See Which Pre-Grated Parmesan Cheese Contains a Wood Pulp Additive Filler
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 23 май 2016
- When customers buy parmesan cheese they expect it to be 100 percent real cheese. But an Inside Edition investigation has found that is not always the case. Some companies use a filler made from wood pulp in their cheese called cellulose to keep the cheese from caking. The FDA says there should be no more than 2 percent. A sample from Pizza Hut had 4.9 percent cellulose and one at Domino's came in at 5.4 percent. A packet of Colonna brand grated cheese had 21.6 percent cellulose. #InsideEdition

j.c man lol it’s not that expensive. No one make you buys the whole block. In my place, 150g = 130.000 vnd ( about 5 US dollar) which is definitely not cheap in vietnam but not that expensive either.

If it's harmless then why does it matter? I bet wood pulp is healthier than the rest of the fillers we eat.
There's lots worse foods out there than cheap parses parmesan. And what does it have anything to do with lazy people?
Cellulose is in vegetables.
ThatTony it's a different kind of cellulose
And who knows what the long-term effects can be from consuming more than 2 % cellulose . I'm definitely cutting my consumption.
Yes Who cares its Just wood.

Ironically when they showed the domino’s cheese packet at 1:56 it said 100% grated parmesan cheese. But if you look at the packet’s ingredients it says cellulose.
That's a scam like for example you see a drink that says 100% real juice but on the back it says contains 5% juice so the 5% juice they put in there is 100% juice.
But cellulose is fine and harmless.
Anti no it’s not 😂😂😂
@@bIahaj cellulose cant be digested by the human gut. its the reason we cant consume grass. we will need 4 stomachs: rumen, reticulum, omasum, obomasum to digest them.
It's not a scam, it's just ambiguous. They mean it contains 100% parmesan, which it obviously does.

Oh yea... that clip of the guy typing
For the guys who thought its "harmless" we never knew why FDA only wants the grated parmesan cheeses to have only 2% of those.Remember, anything that is too much is harmful
July, I always suggest that people read "Salt, Sugar, Fat" by Moss. It's like a beginning primer to understand how the food industry got us hooked and how it grew here. Trust me, they lobbied to get those laws reduced, and they get as close to the legal line as they can. Food purity is an issue in this country. They can't go above 2% or they would be fraudulent in claiming it's cheese. More importantly, though, is that you're paying for useless filler, you're losing nutrition and food value. We vote with our forks, people. Get real Parmesan or Pecorino and nourish your family. You'll be eating more calcium, butterfat, protein... cellulose is a cheat and doesn't provide nourishment.
Another thing is FDA misleading consumers calling it cellulose to avoid calling it wood pulp.
The "cellulose" is NOT same as leafy green cellulose. Grounds of Wood pulp is NO where near same as grounds of leafy greens.
@@zlonewolfthe cellulose is the exact same. Cellulose is an organic compound. Theres no such thing as an impure compound.

I knew it! Parmesan from the stores tastes more like wood.
I seriously doubt you actually tasted wood. You just said that so you could be a special snowflake
When I was a child, I had a completely wooden bunk bed. I used to chew on the wood until I was 7. I can confirm that Alfreid is correct.
Cellulose is, in fact, a completely tasteless powder that is generally coming from fruit and vegetable waste rather than wood. So...no...it doesn't.

The filler they add to the cheese can lead to extreme constipation. I learned this the hard way. Nearly had to go to the hospital to get it out.
Cellulose is completely harmless, what's the problem?

Wow, this news story is so gripping and compelling
Cellulose is a really common food additive, its in baked goods, ice cream its an anti caking ingredient
Camican, it's not in REAL foods. Everything you mentioned, used to be called ".pconvenience foods." That started in the 1950s when the food industry started trying to convince wives that they should be liberated from their kitchens and ought to think of cooking and baking as drudgery, rather than nourishing and fun. At the same exact time, Julia Child was telling us that food is delicious and easy to make, sndmshe was going to teach us how to do it. I bake my own breads; even pizza dough only takes 20 minutes until it's ready for the oven, less time than waiting for that pale, tastless, chintzy frozen piece of cardboard from delivery or a box. It's fun to cook, and it smells wonderful. And you can be generous with real, healthy toppings, not cellulose.
In Europe, you eat more, and more often, but you lose weight, because they have stricter rules and laws about what real food is. They don't allow additives, the way America does. One reason you're fat is because you can't fool your body: when it isn't getting the nutrition it needs, it tells you to keep eating. And at the other end, the fast food industry hammers you to crave their unhealthy manufactured food-like substances that may dubiously taste good, but won't keep you healthy,
You're a fool, if you don't know how to cook, and aren't interested in using logic to see how much cheaper a real piece of
Parmesan is.
I don’t like cheese any ways

No. No I don't. You know why? Because that's just stupid.
So what did you expect! Wood?
I can’t be the only one who thinks the wood pulp powder looks appetizing. I would definitely sprinkle it all over my pasta, I hope they start serving it at restaurants too as an option
that number was perfection

Okay 7yr give your phone back to mommy
Cellulose is in EVERY plant, its what keep plant cell walls stable. While its more common to get cellulose from wood pulp, it doesnt mean its only from wood pulp.
Imagine all the people freaking out over putting cellulose parmesan cheese on their salad
cellulose from oak or pine is dry wood pulp...from WOOD pulp. Rock solid teeth grinding dry wood pulp.
The cellulose from salads and greens...NOT wood pulp. Thats like saying Iron ground to a pulp from metal rebars added to Parmesan is same as iron from steaks to Parmesan is same. 😂
Must be some mental gymnastics youre trying to pull or a blonde moment or both.
For store bought just get 4C , taste great no cellulose. It's also in glass bottles so no plastic seeping in your foods . Classy

Exactly - what is the big deal
Cory Laws it's wood and it's toxic
Debbie Judd if cellulose is so toxic, then people would be sick after eating things like celery and broccoli. Cellulose is a tough undigestable carbohydrate that passes through the gut of most humans. Oh my gosh!! You Americans don't know how to speak!!! You don't say Parmesan like that!!!
That's how we say it in America. Its accent.
I'm not even going to begin to explain what's wrong with your tactless statement. As for how AMERICANS pronounce the ITALIAN word "parmesan", we're obviously not Italian and therefore adapt it to the ENGLISH language. I guarantee every language takes a word from another language and pronounces it differently. It's not about being right or wrong, it's all subjective/relative.
