Not gonna lie, I lowkey almost cried when Nergigante bust out from the rock. Proved to everyone just why hes the Eater of Elders and the main monster of Monster Hunter World. I love my spiky boi
That makes no sense. If I killed the worlds greatest rapier duelist just after long 30 minute match with someone else and he was barely able to stand that whould be cheating and covardish. So nergi really just stole our kill as it was barely abel to stand up.
@@infernalshogun2064 So? I was talking about shara ishvalda nontheless nergigante whould have had time to recover unless nergigante can regenerate hes stamina as fast as his spikes I dont see the point in your comment.
Thrak The Carrier Of The Moonlight I'm saying that because of the end of your comment stating that nerg was barely able to stand when shara was heavily injured when really he recovered fast enough thanks to his regenerating ability to finish off shara after we got in the way
Now I'm just remembering all of the comments about how weak Nergigante is and how a "Real" Elder Dragon would kill him despite Nergi's nickname of "The Eater of Elder Dragons". and looking at all that, all that I can wonder is... What would people's reactions have been if Nostalgia wasn't in the way? If Nergigante was one of the first Elder Dragons shown in the series and if Fatalis, or Miralis, or any other Elder Dragon that people constantly say would wreck Nergigante was only revealed in World? Would people still say Nergigante would lose to them? Like really, I don't mean to challenge the strength of those Elder Dragons. But instead to challenge Nostalgia. What would people have thought of Nergigante if he was first presented in the original Monster Hunter? A rampaging porcupine of a dragon that's introduced by killing a Kirin and presented with the in-lore title of the "Eater of Elder Dragons" despite being unable to actually fight another Elder Dragon due to technical limitations. And then fast forward to Monster Hunter: World where a new Elder Dragon is presented as this destroyer of Kingdoms an ultimate evil that children sing about ala "Ring around the Rosies" style. And then someone comes along and says "Yeah, this thing would absolutely destroy Nergigante in a fight". How would you feel then? Nostalgia is a powerful set of prescription glasses, and learning to take them off isn't the most intuitive thing. But it is something that's sometimes needed if you want to look at things from multiple perspectives and _then_ decide what's going on.
He can probably take most, but Crimson and White fatty, Gog, and Dalamadur are definitely outside of his abilit to prey on, while Shagaru (kind of depending on whether the frenzy virus works on nerg and whether he goes apex), Alatreon, and Amatsu might be difficult matchups for him. Also I don’t know how many of Valstrax’s dive bombs or dragon blasts nerg could take, or whether he could penetrate Nakarkos’s bone armor without being blasted with dragon or thunder energy by the tentacles, assuming he could easily kill Nakarkos once above ground and way before it could finish channeling its death laser.
Nah, not looking at this from that kind of analytical perspective. Genuine thanks for the effort though, shows how much you care about this topic. :) I'm not gonna lie, the main reason why I brought up this comment was because I started with World. And to me, Nergigante really does feel like the Eater of Elder Dragons to me. Just watching his turf wars where he thrashes with other Elder Dragons or watching him demolish stone walls that not even Mega Barrel Bombs can scratch. It all gives me the vibe that this is a monster that has learned to Brute Force its way through opponents with control over the forces of nature itself. Only to go online and see how many people who've been fans for much longer despise Nergigante because of the idea that he might be able to beat their favorites. At first I felt like they did, a bit offended that people would talk badly about Nergigante, implying that he was weak. Then I grew to resent those people... and after taking a few months away and coming back to Iceborne... I realized how silly all of that was. Then this cutscene happened and the discussion flared back into my mind. Now there was cinematic proof that Nergigante could take down Elder Dragons that were larger than him and with supernatural powers as well. I wanted to show it off proudly as proof... and then it began to feel hollow. What was the point in declaring that? To get a sense of superiority? To show that I was right and they were wrong? I started thinking about it, and decided not to use this cutscene as something to parade around about Nergigante's strength. But rather as a diving board to get into a new topic. How much of our bias regarding hating or loving Nergigante stems from Nostalgia? And also in general... how much does Bias effect the way we see monsters? That's the discussion I want to start up here, I'll let Capcom be the one to decide who Nergigante can and can't take on.
He only draws with deviljho. I would never assume that deviljho could kill fatalis or any other black dragon. Shara was also badly weakened, so there is that.
@@weegeeclaus695 Once again, I appreciate the analysis. But this isn't actually about who Nergigante can beat. I elaborated in my last comment that this is mostly about challenging Nostalgia over everything else.
Ah, I see. Xeno and Shara are each other's counterpart. One is an alien who uses unearthly powers while the other is an archean who uses earthly powers.
Xylotolsicam he’s not actually an alien, it’s just that his birth and bioenergy-thieving abilities are unheard of. An elder dragon that is born from sapping and concentrating the energy of other, dead elder dragons is definitely something most people in-universe wouldn’t have even considered, making just the THOUGHT of his existence “alien.” (That, and the fact that “Xeno” does mean “alien,” and that he’s blue and translucent) He was born on Earth, grew up on Earth, and took from earthly beings.
I really like when Capcom does this, when they introduce new monster concepts thta completely defy and goes beyond our wildest expectations, thats why this monster goes instantly on my favorite list, i sure hope they bring Nakarkos to this game
Kinda ironic that the final boss from ICEborne is in a hot place like this desert lol Btw this concept of the monster being in a shell reminds me of Taikun Zamuza from Frontier Also this Monster it's SO Bizarre and I like that A LOT. Can't wait to fight it by myself PD: WOW Nergigante in the end was like: "Remember who's the true final boss!!!"
I personally thought that treat was similar to Ahtal-Ka from Generations Ultimate. Partially because there seems to be some kind of adhesive substance joining the rocks, which reminds me of Ahtal-Ka's silk.
I was thinking the same thing. That gigantic alien with the white body, but the human-esque skull. I love how twisted and fucked up its look is. Its second form would like something from a horror movie if it were colored red and pinkish.
I just realized how deep Capcom intends to go into this…there are now 2 Supreme God class Elder Dragons in the New World…something supposedly formed from 5 Original Supreme God Dragons of existence. We’re getting 3 more of these aren’t we?
Well, Nergigante is more of a Anti Hero It hunts Elder Dragons because while Nature needs a powerfull entity to guard them, if there is too much everything will start being unbalanced like how Kushala destroyed villages, Gogmazios and both Lunastra Teostra stealing Gunpowders as their meal, or the Magala's spreading Virus soo much it caused a Plauge Nergigante can be considered good because it hunt other Elder dragon which is rare because Elder dragons almost never fight each other and dont have a predator to worry about, imagine the other Elder dragon as Rats and Nergi as Cats But Nergi can also be considered bad because it attack pretty much anything in its path even if its main meal are the Elder
@@RenoKyrie plus if it hunts mainly elders or threats to nature, he might as well deviljho or rajang since their very existence can throw everything out of balance

you know what would make this fight cooler is if you could team up with ruiner to help with the first phase chipping off that rock armor, but when the armor breaks shara knocks ruiner out with one of his sonic blast letting you have to finish the fight on your own
The part with armor is a bit ew but the second phase is awesome, I love its design. That's why I think that they should have worked on new monsters instead of a lot of subspecies and returning monsters but this game remains perfect
You know its gonna be quite a boss when you think its just a rock elder dragon, but then turns into a monster that doesnt look like its from a monster hunter game. This fight was hard (In a good way) and crazy given the twist they threw in with the monster.

@@infernalshogun2064 So? I was talking about shara ishvalda nontheless nergigante whould have had time to recover unless nergigante can regenerate hes stamina as fast as his spikes I dont see the point in your comment.
Thrak The Carrier Of The Moonlight I'm saying that because of the end of your comment stating that nerg was barely able to stand when shara was heavily injured when really he recovered fast enough thanks to his regenerating ability to finish off shara after we got in the way
@@infernalshogun2064 I said shara was barely able to stand not nergigante
I'm not gonna lie, the main reason why I brought up this comment was because I started with World.
Bruh, regular nergi was weak... Now ruined... WHO THE HELL FED HIM DEMON AND ADAMANT DRUGS!?
I wonder if the everstream made Xenojiva yo counter the Everwyrm? That would be a bad ass turf war
Ah, I see. Xeno and Shara are each other's counterpart. One is an alien who uses unearthly powers while the other is an archean who uses earthly powers.
If xeno is not an alien that means there could be more due to mass elder dragon deaths but i like to keep both theorys in mind
@@Dabajaws he is an alien
Xylotolsicam he’s not actually an alien, it’s just that his birth and bioenergy-thieving abilities are unheard of.
An elder dragon that is born from sapping and concentrating the energy of other, dead elder dragons is definitely something most people in-universe wouldn’t have even considered, making just the THOUGHT of his existence “alien.”
(That, and the fact that “Xeno” does mean “alien,” and that he’s blue and translucent)
He was born on Earth, grew up on Earth, and took from earthly beings.
@person person that sounds terrifying and brutal
I really like when Capcom does this, when they introduce new monster concepts thta completely defy and goes beyond our wildest expectations, thats why this monster goes instantly on my favorite list, i sure hope they bring Nakarkos to this game
Kinda hard to fit in, maybe in the higher levels of guiding lands in the vale area, cause in the actual vale there's not much room for such behemoth

So, Nergi is the true hero?
He’s always been THE true hero
Well, Nergigante is more of a Anti Hero
It hunts Elder Dragons because while Nature needs a powerfull entity to guard them, if there is too much everything will start being unbalanced like how Kushala destroyed villages, Gogmazios and both Lunastra Teostra stealing Gunpowders as their meal, or the Magala's spreading Virus soo much it caused a Plauge
Nergigante can be considered good because it hunt other Elder dragon which is rare because Elder dragons almost never fight each other and dont have a predator to worry about, imagine the other Elder dragon as Rats and Nergi as Cats
But Nergi can also be considered bad because it attack pretty much anything in its path even if its main meal are the Elder
@@RenoKyrie plus if it hunts mainly elders or threats to nature, he might as well deviljho or rajang since their very existence can throw everything out of balance
