It’s soo many factors that goes into picking a Super Bowl act and i think lil Wayne is to much of a risk just like Kanye would never do the superbowl it really made sense for Kendrick to do it this year especially business wise he built a superb career and have one of the best teams working for him.
1. 2-3 Min Performance at the Super Bowl. 2. Mr. Morale Tour 3. Success in the Battle 4. Pop Out Show That has given them Concrete Evidence that they made the right choice to pick K. Dot.
Lil Wayne should have strengthened his hand by publicly congratulating K-DOT for being approved to perform at the Superbowl. Lil Wayne came off as manipulative & desperate in the grand scheme of things. No one owes him anything and he seriously needs to invest in working on himself personally & professionally. This was a business decision & K-DOT had nothing to do with JayZ & the Superbowl's decision. I am happy that he was selected because his work ethics are impeccable and his body of work is exceptional. Let's support K-DOT in his accomplishments. . .
Exactly. If Wayne was really thinking he would’ve publicly congratulated Dot to kill the controversy then see if he could work with behind the scenes to do a cameo spot. If executed well he could’ve parlayed that “audition” into a future invite to headline a SB. But now he’ll probably never get an invite.

@@trevorgerardfrederick for sure, I've seen this episode previously. I think you misunderstand where I'm going with this. When Kendrick dropped those back to back disses we had all of these impromptu podcasts, these oh i had to sneak a episode in for this moment. Where's the breaking news or the breaking coverage? I know this is a podcast but to Hiphop this is huge news. Diddy basically carried Hiphop into the next generation when Big and Pac passed. This should be breaking news worthy for any hip hop outlet. I don't need to hear from the media their opinions I prefer the opinions of people within the culture. Aside from Akademiks - who really isn't apart of hip hop culture like JB, I haven't heard from any one else.

There will for sure be lists and names listed that will have everyone second guessing or having opinions their fav entertainer. Let's not lose sight of the impact Diddy respectfully has had on the culture and what this means.
They absolutely right, we ALL love Wayne, he's produce great music in the past and know he's from New Orleans BUT those reasons aren't good enough to just hand him the super bowl, he and his team shouldn't automatically assume and feel entitled to it, the super bowl hasn't picked artists based on that in the past so why would the rules change now, it's a business first before it's a music stage and something I realised that some people don't know is, Kendrick is currently a bigger artist than Wayne, do you really think 14-23 year olds listen to Wayne more than Kendrick? the answer is NO, just cause we grew up on Wayne and see him as a huge artist, it doesn't mean next generations don't have their own huge artists.
@@justin080995 he’s not Super Bowl level familiar. The average grandma in middle America couldn’t name 5 Wayne songs. I’m sure because you’re into rap music that you feel that he’s that big, but he really isn’t compared to people like Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Eminem, etc.

The “snub” occurred when Wayne was at his peek and he wasn’t acknowledged with a “Super Bowl” performance. I might be wrong but I think I heard or read that the NFL doesn't pay artists for Super Bowl appearances because of the pub they get just for being on a Half Time show. Your bag comes afterwards from the exposure to 100+ million viewers of the Half Time spectacular.
Wayne did the vmas, espys, did halftime at a raiders prime time game, ran out the tunnel with the packers, did a Sunday night football intro. He also has a residency in Vegas himself. You can say it’s not enough but you can’t say he ain’t did nothing in the past year man
Those things are irrelevant and small gig compared to the biggest event in America. Companies are paying millions of dollars just for a 15 second ad and Seriously running out the tunnel with the packers???? You would make a terrible defense attorney lol
The residency in Vegas was just two days and it was June/July of this summer - by then the Super Bowl decision was already made. In additional to what you listed - Wayne often didn't come to sound checks, showed up late for shows, and left early (sometimes after only 15 minutes) if the crowd wasn't hype enough. And his performances weren't that great. That stuff matters as well.

Really that was around the same time birdman and them put a hit out on him and shot up his tour bus and nobody did anything, so how y’all expect him to ride for BLM when his black life didn’t even matter to other black men!!??? Stop looking at shit from surface level
The fact that he said he wouldn’t share the stage with anyone was probably the deciding factor because what he gone do for 13 minutes by himself
He’d probably mumble his way through his greatest hits with DIY choreography then pause at the end with a stoic pose to inexplicably end the set a few minutes prematurely.
Exactly
But Rihanna did it though lol 😂😂 dude was not up for the job
13 minutes?wtf 😂 have you been to a Wayne show? Obviously not or you wouldn't say some goofy sht like that 🤦🏾♂️
It’s soo many factors that goes into picking a Super Bowl act and i think lil Wayne is to much of a risk just like Kanye would never do the superbowl it really made sense for Kendrick to do it this year especially business wise he built a superb career and have one of the best teams working for him.
1. 2-3 Min Performance at the Super Bowl.
2. Mr. Morale Tour
3. Success in the Battle
4. Pop Out Show
That has given them Concrete Evidence that they made the right choice to pick K. Dot.
Twice performing at the Superbowl. Beyonce and Dre.
@mauricejones810
I STRONGLY doubt that him winning a rap battle against Drake played any role in him getting picked to perform the Superbowl
He didn't win that battle. He weaponized Drake being mixed race. Not the same thing. Drake had much better songs.
@@Roccofanhe won the battle and it definitely shows because Drake has seen a decline since that battle happened
@@Roccofanand not like us is still beating his new releases thats crazy
Wayne a fool. How you a snub if you weren’t even considered?
Wayne sounds like a child that’s been spoiled his whole life and finally been told no! Get over it you don’t always get what you want it’s life!
😂😂😂😂😂
Tbh, he kinda is. Lil Wayne been rich since the 90s when he was a teenager. So he probably is pretty used to getting his way.
Someone ask him where this energy was a few years ago when SB was also in NO. 😂
It's been there multiple times even he was on fire back in the day. The haters didn't say 1 word, now all of a sudden they are outraged 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
They just started featuring hip hop artists when Jay got involved so it wasn't really realistic then 🤷🏾♂️
Wayne’s a goat but we know he been dealing with substance abuse and I’m sure his track record had a play in the NFLs decision
no he hasnt he literally has epilepsy. good lord. thats why he cant remember lyric and freestyles but he still puts on a good show.
Also, Wayne is reliable or dependable
Literally this
Wayne’s getting torn up because we all know damn well he woulda never made that video without someone close to him telling him he should make it. Hell, I’m more than willing to bet he would have never even known that people wanted him to do the Super Bowl, if the people around him didn’t tell him. Wayne keeps himself outta the loop, that’s on purpose too. Idk, the video to me just seemed super inauthentic.
Somebody def informed him he needed to be offended lol
Nonsense. Every one knows Wayne is blacklisted due to his support of a certain person; Trump!
...shout out to Ish, too... for being the only one on the set who kept it real 💯
Yo as dumb as this sounds. What if Wayne actually does perform??? Kendrick bring him out? Any chance like thatd be insane
Yeah. He has a horrible team around him. That is a huge part of his downfall.
@@1sagacious1 Blacklisted by who? Closeted Trump supporters? Certainly not the NFL whose players and owners openly support Trump.
Can't wait for the Diddler convo. I know you're going to roast him 😂
the whole industry ducking that uncomfortable diddy convo smh.. a lot of people waiting and hoping they get left off them subpoenas or afraid of the names that will be involved.
I'm pretty sure this particular episode was recorded before the arrest
@@sa-mp5iw Again I think the point I'm making is being misunderstood. It's not about podding at this point, its about owing it to the culture to be the first to report on the state of the culture. Be it a one time thing or a Hey we don't normally do this but we are going to speak on the state of or the impact this is having on OUR culture before anyone else does.
Push Ups and Diss tracks aside, this is bigger than anything we have seen in Hip Hop in quite some time, bc it may involve a lot of people we hold to be the darlings of the culture.

Plus Middle America is way more familiar with Kendrick especially after the work he did on the Black Panther soundtrack.
@@parkermudsen1063 bro wayne is a pop culture icon at this point. Middle America is more than familiar with him in 2024
@@justin080995 he’s not Super Bowl level familiar. The average grandma in middle America couldn’t name 5 Wayne songs. I’m sure because you’re into rap music that you feel that he’s that big, but he really isn’t compared to people like Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Eminem, etc.
@@parkermudsen1063 fam I mean this with all due respect, but Wayne sold a mill first week twice, shit even the Carter 5 did 500,000 first week. Strictly rap fans don’t get you those level of numbers. Beyoncé doesn’t even have those kinda accolades, and Kendrick doesn’t even come close. I’m not saying Kendrick doesn’t deserve his spot on the halftime show, I’m just saying Wayne is more than a rap star, he’s a pop star at this point.
And I can also acknowledge that Wayne is more of a legacy act, while Kendrick is at the peak of his already legendary career.
*edit.. I’m also a Billboard nerd, so I’m more than aware that Taylor Swift is the biggest pop star to exist since Michael Jackson 🤷🏾♂️😂
@@justin080995 ok. Name all the hit songs he could perform to fill 20 minutes during halftime that don’t talk about drugs, sex, or violence.
He will be aiiight. As many accolades as he has its unbelievable that he still has space to feel disappointed about this. He sold out big venues he should be quite and chill like the podcast said
AGREED!
imagine telling an ambitious person not to be upset when they dont achieve their goals. not every is complacent like you.
@@stinarrr its not about ambition its about opportunity. Wayne has accomplished more than most artists will ever accomplish when you consider relevance, sales, and longevity. If he was really that ambitious he would have had a larger say so in his own career. The ambitious ones in Wayne’s life were his handlers, once he stopped fucking with them his career pretty much stopped too. You wont see that with real ambitious artists like Master P, Jay Z, too short, nba youngboy, lil durk, are examples of ambitious artists. Lil Wayne had all his decisions made for him

Lil Wayne was the hottest thing smoking from 07'-11'ish. He's not that anymore. Kendrick Lamar is better in every way in his city or your city. He actually raps about something besides lean, drugs and low class women.
Wayne's response was at least better than Birdman's. 🤣😂
If the super bowl is ever held in Green Bay then he should get the nod with him being a Packer fan n all 😂

You weren't "hurt" hearing about black lives being taken😅
But this killed you. You laughed and joked but now you ain't got no bars😅
I fuck with Wayne but he should be on Cole's fall off album
The “snub” occurred when Wayne was at his peek and he wasn’t acknowledged with a “Super Bowl” performance. Irregardless of what city or state it takes place in, the opportunity should be given to those who’ve proven themselves to be the best at that particular time. Once again, I think Wayne done that year after year but this ain’t the year for it; this is undeniably Kendrick’s time. I highly doubt Durk being upset if they had it in Chicago and chose Kendrick now… or anybody for that matter. This sudden change entitlement post Jay Z positioning himself and Dr. Dre’s production in LA.
I think Lil Wayne would have been lit ! The show will be interesting bc who knows which direction Kendrick is gonna go with the halftime show, either way the show will be dope.
Appreciate them pointing out respect 1st and far most and pointing out the team is important keep respect on Wayne name.
Never had a problem before this. The Superbowl has been in New Orleans before so why when Kendrick gets a spot he feels disrespected? When its all said and done Kendrick will be the G.O.A.T
I didn’t know any of this. I’m glad they explained it
It’s not about men being vulnerable. Wayne doesn’t align with us-he’s said his audience is mostly white and that racism doesn’t exist. Be mindful of what you’ve said in the past, because it can come back to haunt you
All this conversation has taught me is that a lot of hip-hop fans don't truly understand the value of performing at the Super Bowl. If they did you'd quickly realize that in the year 2024, Lil Wayne is nowhere near qualified for that stage.
It's insane that this is even a conversation. No one is entitled to anything.
Why are we still calling this a snub. I don’t understand why Wayne would think he was owed the Super Bowl.
He should’ve moved like lasagna. 😂
Never been a real G
If Wayne steps up with the performances, he'll get to perform at the Halftime Show
Not kendrick show 😂 Wayne can wait for HIS time to shine at a Superbowl show
It’ll be a looooong time (if ever) before the NFL even considers Wayne as a viable option for the SB. And by then his music will be even more irrelevant as far as Middle America is concerned.
May not happen. The noise is gonna get loud for the Swift/Malone/ Country crowd soon.@@VirgoShxt

Kenny hasn't done anything this year other than diss Drake
@@link5283returnshe had a huge concert that did numbers, put out the song of the year, completed the highest grossing solo Hip-Hop tour of all time.
You haven’t been paying attention.
@@_NoHandle_ you aint never heard of wayne walking out of no vegas residency man. if thats the case he wouldnt get another one. he did drais as well. you going off what that grammy director say that if thats the case why have him perform multiple times at the grammys if he so difficult . budden them said he has done nothing and thats just not true
