Weird how a bunch of Maiden songs from 1 and Killers played yesterday out of the blue, and I found myself happy (for a change). These albums came out when we had our whole lives ahead of us, and now we’re coming to the end. RIP Mr. Di’Anno.
@@Markotto09 soo true. Strangely I had an urge to play the first Maiden album about 8.20 this morning while getting ready for work.. While putting my makeup on I had a really bad feeling of dread in my stomach.. Like something bad was going to happen.. Played the first 2 albums last week alot.. I'm sat here in tears..
This hit me like a hammer. I’ve been a lifelong Maiden fan and the first song and video I ever saw was Women In Uniform and his voice and look was one of the main things that got me hooked! Those two Maiden albums are masterpieces and I was lucky enough to see his UK return show at the Cart and Horses pub where Maiden was born back in September of last year, even though he was stressed he still delivered the best show he could! All maiden songs too and we got to meet him afterwards too which was amazing! Such a great guy and a legendary voice! I managed to get Paul’s Handwritten Setlist from that show which is one of my prized possessions. It was no secret that he was no doubt going to be brought on as a guest at Maidens home coming stadium show next year which would’ve made an amazing and monumental reunion but i know full well there will be a tribute made to him in his honour. RIP Paul ❤️ What a legendary man with a legendary voice
I've got the original Soundhouse tapes ep with the original line up.. Last thing I'd ever sell.. Fully signed R. I. P Paul.. Thanks for being in Maiden ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I got to see Paul at a hole in the wall club way back in 2009 and even got to meet him for a minute. He was really cool and talkative, considering I was just an awkward teenager.
Killers was the very first record I bought as a kid growing up on a grotty UK housing estate in Thatcher's Britain. Those early Maiden albums were a much needed form of escapism that I still cherish. RIP Paul.
The first two Iron Maiden albums are my all time favorites by them. Clive Burr was also extremely competent as a Drummer. I raise a glass and salute both of them. RIP Mr. Di'anno...
Definitely sad news to wake up too. I really loved the haunting and bloodcurdling sound of his voice that made the two Iron Maiden records so special. I always hoped that he would’ve continued with the same vocal style and similar type of music that he was doing in Maiden. It’s just really sad that his health was never able to improve. RIP Paul. We love you and you will be missed.
First Maiden I ever heard was Number of the Beast, Piece of Mind, and Powerslave between the ages of 4-5. At 6, I discovered my late brother’s cassette of Killers. I heard the title track and was blown away. His scream made a bigger impact on me than the scream in Beast. Killers is still my favorite maiden album today, and he will always be my favorite Maiden singer. RIP Paul Di’Anno. 🤘
I was fortunate enough to see Maiden open for Kiss in Gothenburg, Sweden in 1980. I was blown away by the raw energy. And Di'anno's voice and delivery really made an impression. I became a Maiden fan there and then. Incredibly sad news, thank you for sharing your thoughts.
This is a awful blow. Sucks man. Paul Di'anno was the best and my favorite Maiden singer. Iron maiden 1st album and killers were game changers. RIP Paul! 🙏 He's Up there rocking with Clive burr 🤘🤘
Seeing Maiden live tomorrow…. They NEED to dedicate Iron Maiden to Paul at the show(in St Paul, MN ironically). Killers is still their all time best album!! RIP Paul
What a bummer brother. At least you got to meet him and see him perform. Our favorite Maiden was his version. Those two first records are pure heavy metal.
Now this definitely makes me cry. Iron Maiden has been an extremely special band to me ever since 1986 of the age of eight years old. I remember the first time I ever listened to the Paul Dianno era was the Killers album and it blew my mind big time. The self titled debut album also blew my mind big time as well. I love the Bruce Dickinson era and Blaze Bayley era a lot, but the Paul Dianno era is extremely special! Those two albums are PERFECTION! I love the other bands that he had after Iron Maiden as well! Killers, Battlezone, Dianno, and Architects Of Chaoz big time! Rest In Peace Paul! You helped my childhood be awesome with your music!
Ralph, I love both era's of iron maiden, this is a tough one for me to man love those albums with Paul, though I never got to see him live, always loved his voice, he will be missed. R.I.P. PAUL 🤘
i like number of the beast and powerslave, but i love killers and the self-titled. the dvd “the early years” with dianno is unmatched in its awesomeness 🤘rip
I like all the eighties Maiden but the first two with Paul are the best. Always my go-to albums to hear all way through. Maiden Japan EP is a favorite too. Had it on cassette. I wonder if recordings of the complete shows those songs were recorded at exist?
Yes, Maiden Japan is a full CD album. I ordered it, received it and listened to it. I had the five song EP cassette when I was a kid and now I own the entirety of it. I ordered it from fastmetalcds on ebay (Canada). It has the same artwork, the same five songs as the original cassette, plus many, many more songs.. and a booklet. Shipping cost within Canada from fastmetalcds is nil. I have no idea what it is outside of Canada. I also ordered Testament Live At Eindhoven full album. I had a five song EP of the Eindhoven concert on cassette but now I have the full concert on CD. Why they wait decades to gift us with full concerts, after the EP offerings, is baffling. The live songs were already recorded why not include them on the original 80s cassettes, right? Metal Will Never Die.
Sad news indeed. I love the Paul Di’Anno Iron Maiden era. I like the stuff Maiden did after Di’Anno left, but those first two albums were amazing. His latest album is amazing too. He brought it right up until the end. RIP Paul Di’Anno.
So sad it took his death for people to realize how great he really was. I have everything he recorded after leaving Maiden, including his last, "Warhorse".
I was lucky and got to see Paul play live three times. I think I saw that same tour you did, but in Massachusetts. I also saw him in the 90s with Killers. It was this tiny club. Phenomenal. Marshall Lockjaw, Phantom of the Opera... and so much more. The other time was the 30th anniversary of Iron Maiden's debut. He played the whole album. That could have been the show you saw... I get the two last shows mixed up. He meant so much to me.
I actually met him close to 20 years ago, when he went to my country of origin to perform, and I happened to be working as Immigration Superintendent, so I stamped his passport and gave him a VIP treatment, and he kindly signed all my stuff, both Iron Maiden and Killers LPs and a German copy of Maiden Japan, and also his biography, still have them today. Rest in Peace brother 🤘🏻
The first Maiden album i ever bought was the Maiden Japan ep. I loved live albums back in the late 70s and early 80s. I loved to imagine what the concert might be like. Time to give it another listen. R.I.P Paul
Oh my God, this fucking. Hurts. RIP, my friend, we'll all miss you terribly. The best Maiden singer and without Paul I wouldn't have seen Maiden just last Saturday night. Damn I didn't know he was that sick. It's awesome he and Bruce had their meeting and saw each other play. Paul performed because Bruce was there.
A sad day indeed. The loss of another og metal god. Caught Dianno here in Australia in 2010 and he was awesome. My first introduction to his Maiden material was a cassette a friend lent me. But when I flipped it over it had Maiden Japan taped on the other side. I was blown away. It was Maiden but tough as nails. R.I.P. Paul. A true legend 🤘
Back in the ‘80’s, the first 2 Iron Maiden albums had been my introduction to metal. Now at age 53, I remember first hearing the opening track (Prowler), and so I played both albums with DiAnno in their entirety this morning - and listening managed to produce the very-same smile on my face albeit perhaps with several cross feet now included lol. Absolutely love the first 2 albums. RIP Mr. Andrews/DiAnno
No doubt about this guys influence particularly with those classic first two Maiden albums. Still listen to them on the regular. R.I.P. Paul. You were a Baller, Mate.
Man, it seems like yesterday i was a kid buying my first Maiden album, KILLERS! LETHAL!!!! I remember PURGATORY, just blowing my mind, along with the rest of the album. Prodigal Son.....man, what a beautiful, under stated vocal performance.
Definitely very sad day . Loosing Clive hit me hard and so does Paul . When I was a kid jamming with my buddy I was into priest AC/DC kiss and he had an 8 track he put in Iron Maiden and it totally changed my life . Great you met him
Ralph my first thought when i read this news was what your reaction was going to be in this video. incredibly sad news and a huge loss to the Metal world 🤘🏼 condolences to his friends and family 🙏🏼
Damn, I know how much you love early Maiden/Dianno. Listening to Maiden Japan right now, it’s so good the early Maiden. You’re right, it was a different band. Brings back a lot of memories, as I am sure it does for you also. Still remember first time hearing Prowler. Take care Dr.
great loss seemed like a cool guy great singer. paul aggressive metal & punk. I'm glad you got meet paul. early iron maiden was great. paul has done a lot.
For a lifelong Maiden fan, I never really got into the Di'Anno era until much later. And as much as I love Bruce, those first two albums sound best with Paul. And it also gave me new perspective on the Blaze era, too. Each Maiden vocalist sounds best on their albums. Bruce may be the Maiden singer eternal, but his covers of the other two can't compare. Each is perfect for their respective time in the band. Rest in peace, Paul Di'Anno.
July 2 1981 Convention Hall Asbury Park N.J. Killer world Tour I sat in second row dead center and had my face melted by the guttural voice the thundering drums the angry wailing guitars and the rhythmic thump of the bass. This was IRON FUCKING MAIDEN!!! I was a 16 year old burn out who listened to satanic heavy metal. Maiden’s first two albums with Paul (and dozens of ep’s) defined Heavy Metal and influenced countless numbers of bands.
came into Maiden as a teen at a different era so I like Bruce , ( mid 80's ) , but man , we must give credits where due , may this man rest in peace and thanks for the music ..,
I loved the KILLERS album and it is indeed a Maiden classic and Paul Dianno needs to be more celebrated and recognized for the band’s early success. This is sad news. RIP
The first two Maiden albums are Heavy Metal masterpieces. Such a huge loss!! 🫂
I agree.
The first two albums were always my favourites.
This is truly very sad news today. R.I.P. Paul.
I hated the production on their debut. Once I got past that... the record is fucking amazing!
Best Maiden the first two. The third was written during that period too, but Bruce did the vocals.
Best Maiden singer EVER! Rest in Peace Paul!
HECK YES!
Was waiting on this one. RIP Paul. First two albums are my still favorites
This sucks so bad. RIP Paul, the Prodigal Son. Running wild, running free. 🤘😞

Totally fucking gutted. Need this work day to end so I can listen to those first two albums.
Very well said Ralph
As usual

Me too. What a legend.
Killers was the very first record I bought as a kid growing up on a grotty UK housing estate in Thatcher's Britain. Those early Maiden albums were a much needed form of escapism that I still cherish. RIP Paul.
I remember getting the 1st two Maiden Albums in 80 81 changed my life forever RIP Paul Di'anno 💔💔💔🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏💔💔💔

One of my favorite singers. RIP Paul. Great tribute Doc.
Thanks Doc, heard it here 1st.. so sad, loved his era of Maiden best❤️✌️🤘👊

They had a more punk edge with Di’Anno and I always loved that about the first 2 Maiden albums
My favorite Maiden line up
The "Killers" lineup of Harris/Di'anno/Murray/Smith and Burr was the absolute best.

Seeing Maiden live tomorrow…. They NEED to dedicate Iron Maiden to Paul at the show(in St Paul, MN ironically). Killers is still their all time best album!! RIP Paul
Saw the band 2 days ago and for Iron maiden the song he wore the Paul leather jacket, I think he knew it was close.
Earlier this year, I drank a pint of Trooper beer in London's Cart & Horses Pub, where Iron Maiden were first formed in 1975!
Paul was awesome the first two albums were my favorite by them.
The singer on my favorite 2 Maiden albums. A really terrible and tragic loss. Rest in heavy metal peace Paul DiAnno. Forever will be missed 🙏🤘
What a bummer brother. At least you got to meet him and see him perform. Our favorite Maiden was his version. Those two first records are pure heavy metal.

Damn 😢. Killers will always be my favorite maiden lp. They were never the same afterwards.
Paul was my favorite IM singer, this one really hurts, RIP Paul ❤️
I'm really crushed right now. Will be listening to the first 2 records the rest of the week. We love you, Paul! R.I.P.😢

Crushing loss to me and the world! We lost one of the greats. Up the Irons!🤘
Very Cool. Like I said before, their best album is Maiden Japan. I love Iron Maiden with Bruce and I never saw them with Paul, but Maiden Japan RIPS.
Sad. The Nomad album is amazing!! I havent heard the Battlezone stuff since I was a kid. Cant find it anywhere either.
I have 2 copies of the first 2 Battlezone albums on CD.
I just named a character in a video game after him last week. RIP Paul.
