There are different variations of the PS1 menu, if you live in Japan and the US all the fat model PS1's had the ugly blue background with rainbow colors, the early PAL versions had a gray background but with photos of a music note and memory card, while later ones unfortunately got the ugly color scheme, and all slim models have the background shown in the video.
Because it only has 2 rooms one of them is a memory card viewer and the other is a cd player where you insert like an album disc and you can listen to music on your ps1 I do not know if it plays today's albums because the ps1 is old
Actually, this menu was also used on the very first ps1's. then it was redesigned to that blue thing, then when the ps-one came out, they went back to this, but included the audio visualization included in the blue bios.

@@Ricky-tp2qj No way the blue one with the rainbow colors was shit, it was ugly as hell, the Slim menu is way better, I even prefer the older ones the PAL region got similar with this but with pictures with a memory card and a piano with a music note, the blue background sucked, the gray one rocks.
This one has been trying to find an audio program for the PC that will provide the same audio functions as the PS1, with the sound variety including the hall, church, dome, studio, etc. because some of those atmosphere settings were really spellbinding.
You probably have a different model of playstation! When your ps1 starts up, does it open with a blue background with bubbles? And are the icons for the memory card, and cd player look like splats of paint? If so, then you have an older model of playstation!
@@chowmein0941 No the one that opens like a door is an earlier PAL SCPH-1002 or SCPH-5002. The ones with the splat like icons and blue background are all NTSC consoles (US and Japan except the slim models which have the one shown here) and the PAL SCPH-9002 which to my knowledge is the only european console to have that menu.
It was a simple but functional menu, no communities, no friends, no digital games, here alone you had a CD player and the option to watch your memory card, now instead on the ps4 you can join a community, have friends, chat with them through a group of you or by message and even play with them, none of that existed at that time, it was all simpler and there was almost nothing we know now , lcd screens, 4K resolutions, no! This is 1995, it's not 2020
This brings back memories when I used to buy ps1 games for my ps2 . Like I remember getting Dave Mirra Freestyle bmx when I was like 4. I remember I was so exicted I wasn't paying attention and I put the disc upside down In my ps2 and we had to get another one LoL and I remember having the scooter game, rc helicopter, and my favorite, Stuart Little 2 haha
when i started gaming, the PS2 was already out so i got it. too bad i never had a change getting PS1 before PS2 came out. i was 7 years old when i got my PS2 in 2001
on the newer ps1.....when your in the CD menu and your playing a CD.....if you press start and select at the same time you get an on screen graphics that dance to the music....I forget what they call it. but it was only on the newer ps1s.

@2908kevin The newer PS1's (the little white ones) had a menu like in this video. You probably have the older grey one, which had that weird purple-ish menu instead.
@1PlayerD but you have the bigger PS1 right? with the purple menu, cause i have a NTSC U/C PS One (the small version) and the menu is exactly the same of the video...
I really dont like the PSone bios menu it looks so plain and it reminds me of that Mario Paint fly squatting game. I prefer the 1997 bios menu thats all blue with the rainbow splash options
Bei mir sieht das ganz anders aus, also der hintergrund ist gleich bloß die Symbole, statt die CD sind bei mir Klaviertasten mit bunten Noten und da steht auch nicht Memory-Card oder CD-Player.
+Shailja Relwani The game is not supposed to start after you've reached the Main Menu. my menu is different to this the icons for both CD player and memory card are different, background is still the same. also I can't play a game it just goes on to CD player can anyone help ?
I never had a PS1, but that's okay, I have a PS2 and it's backwards compatible with PS1 games. I have some PS1 games like Silhouette Mirage and other games. PS3 also plays PS1 games too! It can't play PS2 games :( However, there are PS2 classics. One of my favourite PS2 games were Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. My friend has a PS one, I don't. He also has a PS2 just like me.
I really enjoyed Final Fantasy 7 and Crash Bandicoot when I was a kid, and I played them on the PS2 as well. Other than the Dreamcast, Gamecube, and Wii, PS1 games are really nostalgic to me too
I didn't even know the ps1 had a menu.
Me too lol
trick: dont insert a game/or cd

see sony have done bubbles before the vita.
both, i have PS1 fat and slim (SCPH-7001 and SCPH-101)
