I worked here as a Keeper for a couple years when it first opened. It was open for longer than 2 years, but they changed hands a couple of years after I left. I could tell you exactly what animals was where! I'm so heartbroken to see that it's all been abandoned and left in the state it is. What a huge shame :( 💔
Yes, it's a massive shame, and yeah, I know it was Bugtopia before. However, the reference I was making was that Rutland zoo only lasted a few years. Thanks for sharing with us
I worked at Bugtopia for around 6 years before it changed hands and I was let go. It is genuinely heartbreaking to see the place I loved educating people and getting them inspired about all the animals there in such disrepair. Unfortunately, it was due to the lockdown and the soaring electricity prices that killed it in the end, I’m just shocked to see the people I’d hoped would breathe life into the place would leave it in such a state :(
18:49 I have a photo here with a Blue Parrot on my shoulder, that is why it is so open and no cages :) then I think it was fish running under or around the bridge if I am not mistaken :)
This is such a shame to see. We were going to visit there again next year but found out it closed a couple years ago. I have been there many times over the years

Did this location today! Was a different explore for sure!!
Yeah was worth doing before it's trashed fully
@@BeardedReality Since your video it will likely be destroyed. And if it is, I will view you to be a large part of a cause

Yeah only the bigger zoos managed to survive lockdown and even some of them didn't make it crazy how places end up - thank you for sharing with us

Yeah it is sad far to many places gone lately
I visited here when it was open with my children and it was really nice in there, loads of animals. It was a shame it closed
Yeah so many places gone forever now crazy times
I used to love bugtopia as a child it’s sad how it is now .
Yeah real shame it's just ended up left so many people have been telling me about the place
7:39 there was something moving in that tub of water
Aha 😅😅
We went here 2 weeks ago, no power and looks totally different
wow really madness - has to be council or local groundskeeper that has cut the power - and people eh
@@BeardedReality probably, such a nice area too!
This would be heaven for me and my mate who rescue reptiles
Aha I have just started looking after animals so I also get that feeling
@@BeardedReality what animals you looking after
Mantises, spiders and frogs atm
All good thanks
Glad you are well
I would like to save some of the stuff if was near me and reuse it so it all dont get trashed because people dont have respect for anything
Unfortunately would still be classed as theft
@@BeardedReality well thats rubbish
@@BeardedReality does anyone still own it
Probs the council now
Its shame its just been abbandon would be easy to fix it and open it up again
Yeah it's not to far gone but believe didn't get alot of guests hence closure after 2 years
You should buy the land
Aha land probs owned by the park tbf
I want to get in to urban exploration any tips x
Research, be prepared, always best when not alone and be safe
Some of them tanks would of cost a fortune to build or buy in
Ohh yes truly wasted
Where abouts is this place ?
It'd a zoo in England
I no that but where ?
@@JamieBernard-t4n Rutland Water in Oakham / Northamptonshire / Leicestershire area :)
I know all the brands they have in the vet room
Yep common brands in the market would love to find a zoo left for like 50 years with everything imagine that
@@BeardedReality let alone them i would lol
Your going have to end up buying a zoo lol 😂😂😂
Bearded zoo coming soon 😂😂
