This happened with my Siamese cat Sammy & my husband, who "didn't like cats"! Sammy was obsessed with him & all of that love & attention paid off bc my husband, although he wouldn't admit it, became a cat guy so much that he met a kitten looking for a home & brought her home without even telling me! My husband & Sammy both passed away & i miss them both very much! ❤

It is the way cats interpret body language. Indifference to them is perceived as welcoming. And constantly being in their face and trying to get their attention is perceived as aggressiveness.

Cat dads just have that good energy. My husband and cats are the same way. He secretly wants one more cat, but he’s pretending he doesn’t. We feed feral cats and I’m trying to get them to be unafraid of humans and it’s working little by little. He wants one of them and I can’t wait for the day.

I had a cat who was SO bonded to my husband, he would pace the house and wail when he went out of town. Cats form very strong bonds!

The heart knows what it wants. I used to call my cat the other woman in my life to my fiance. They sometimes seemed to be competing for my attention. We had to put my cat down three months ago, but I have a feeling the day will come when another cat will be competing with her for my affections.
So sorry for your loss. We have such strong bonds with our animals, it’s rough they don’t live as long as they should.

Our cat bonded with my partner the minute we got him and he's always been aloof to me. He whines when my partner goes to work and runs downstairs the minute he arrives. The older the cat has gotten, the stronger the bond. I find it so endearing.

My adult daughter has 3 ragdoll felines and 4 children. Each cat has their special person whom they've picked to hang with. All different persons. I find it adorable.

We have our son's cat, he passed away last October. Husband is her favourite but she comes to tell me she loves me too. I suppose it is because she lived with our son for so long. She turned up as a young cat and decided she was moving in with him. He suffered depression etc, we wonder if she realised he needed her? No one claimed her so stay she did. Love her to bits.
I'm so sorry for your loss and hope that your son's cat has brought you some comfort. I have two cats that were my sister's when she died from lung cancer 10 years ago. They're getting old now (14 & 16), and I dread the day that last physical connection to my sister is gone.

@@jeanipin3430 I had a cat named Ripley at one time too. I named her after Ellen Ripley from the Alien franchise. She was a sweet & beautiful mini house panther. She and her almost identical sister Murphy (from Murphy Brown) were rescues. I hope that your Ripley continues to bring you comfort for many years to come.

We had a beautiful (but very nervous) Siamese kitty who just attatched herself to my husband - her whole life. She was always sitting with him and even laid on him at night. He had to go out of town when his Dad became very ill, and she was in kidney failure. I took care of her constantly, but she waited until he returned to cross the Rainbow Bridge. We miss her very much.

Absolutely precious! Cats will always choose their person, not the other way around. I love their independence. My girl, Babette, is a Siamese mix of almost five. She owns our home...and me. We wouldn't have it any other way 🐱❤️

I have saved so many feral cats, I feed them and make sure they have a place to sleep but they all chose their Cat Dad (My Husband)!
Try getting a low setting heating pad and set it up under a blanket next to you. My guess is he's a bit more exothermic.

This is a common dynamic...the person that wanted the cat often pets and interacts with the cat so often that the cat is overwhelmed by the attention...the "non-cat" person will be more passive and the cat gets to interact with *that* human when it wants to, thereby building a more comfortable bond with the non-cat person. Also, it seems like there are a lot of cats that prefer the opposite gender human, but that's just been my casual observation.

I had many cats when we lived in an apartment and whenever my brother came to visit -gues whos lap they ended up in? I think its because he had a certain smell they loved.

When we were young, our cats preferred my husband because he generated more heat. Now that we're old they prefer me because I'm fat providing a nice soft spot and I generate more heat.
