- Not going to upload yet another redundant sand dunes video but this one ends with the Jeep stuck in a 4ft water hole and everyone inside wet from the waist down... so yeah, fun, fun!
And a very special "Thank You!" to Jake Dilts and his amazing 60th AE TJ for pulling my Jeep out of the hole and to the parking area! Very impressive performance for a Jeep half the size and weight of my 392 JL!
Also, happy to say there was no permanent water damage to the Jeep, other than a reverse cam that may or may not have been related to this incident. Наука
More money than brains
Who would have known when he said there's the water it would end that way.Glad you are safe and thanks for the tips,be ware of standing water .I'm going to the dunes soon.Honest simple video is more helpful than 80 percent of the others out there.
Wow didn't realize it'd been that long since I've been up in the sand dunes lots of trees. That I don't remember seeing in the past.I once Hydro locked a motor in an 86 Ford Bronco in the water hole out there.
And the ad said just cleaned and detailed.
Glad to see you're back on the road!!! Those water features can be tricky and deceptive, for sure. We run into that there, and over on the east coast in the forests and pine barrens too.
Great video and thanks for posting. Im going there next month. That is a memory not soon forgotten!!!!
Thanks for posting, not everyone would share an experience like that. 😄
Yeah, we need to laugh at ourselves sometimes. As long as we learn from our mistakes, that is. Thanks for the comment.
Looks fun, lucky kids!
Ironic that the name is Rubicon! 😂😂😂😂😂
that was good, I didnt expect that
Sucks but happens to the best of us and always ends in a good story.
Couldn't quite tell from the video - did you shut down right away - or leave it running? Glad to see you didn't damage the motor.
I shut it down immediately, not that I feared hydrolock - the hydro-guide hood did it's job well - but because of the submerged electrical components, seeing I wasn't sure where all of them were located. Turns out some electrical controls did get wet because when I tried to restart (after recovery), everything was glitchy. Headlights were flashing, windshield wipers were running with the switch off, the dashboard was going crazy, even the horn was honking on it's own. I disconnected the battery and was towed by the recovery jeep to the parking lot, where I let it set overnight, and the next day everything was back to normal, other than the slight difficulty starting the motor due to the exhaust system being filled with water. Everything returned to normal, other than the reverse and trail cam stopped working and the shifter started acting crazy weeks later. Both have been fixed since and it's running great now. Oh, I also had to drain the front differential, clean with brake cleaner and fill with new fluid. The breather tube ends just above the from wheel well, which was below the water level.
That same water hole got us last year 😂😭
It looks so shallow! LOL I went through this same water hole last year (see my other dunes video) and made it through four times but must have hit a deeper spot this year. What a mess! All cleaned up now though, including the front differential that got water/sand in it through the breather tube.
@@naamangeist7843 ours fried the fuse block 😭😭 replaced and it was good to go!
I'm a certified REC/TEC scubadiver. My rule is "don't dive in murky waters" same rule should go towards OFFROADING.
Yeah, next time I'm sending the nephews in first to measure the depth. LOL@@captseamus
