Grateful for your videos. When my dog was a 3 month puppy, the vet wanted him to get this vax, just in case! No way would I do that! No varmints or standing water near us. I no longer go to that vet. We desperately need more holistic vets as yourself❤

How I wish this video was available six months ago, and I so appreciate all the good advice you offer. I took my 120lb Akita to the vet for a nail trim (I'm a senior and it's too much for me anymore). I walked out after what amounted to a strong sales pitch, with an expensive bill for two vaccines, one of which was for lepto. I'd never heard of it before and the traveling vet who was seeing patients that day went into great detail about the dangers and proliferance of it in wildlife in our neck of the woods. She made it sound like he could get it just walking our daily neighborhood walks. My dog got very sick: for two days he wouldn't eat, drank little, could hardly get him to get up to go outside for a potty break. He gradually became more himself over the next week, but I immediately called the vet and cancelled the second dose he was supposed to get a month later. Never again.

Dear Doc. You are awesome! Please ignore nasty comments from close-minded people. Had dogs all my life. Last one was raised, fed , vaccinated all accordingly to "science ". Died of a cancer of the lining of a stomach at only 8 ( medium bread). Was it " Blue Buffalo " food that was heavily promoted as the healthy choice, or annual multi shoots and all the tick meds? Done with "science ". Don't stop what you doing. Best wishes to you and yours.

Once I was afraid of those diseases, but right now I am more afraid of the vaccines that they're trying to give my dogs. I have a wonderful vet who doesn’t believe in over vaccinating our dog but lepto he definitely recommends so I do it. However, people should know that there is a higher risk for an allergic reaction so my vet gives him Benadryl mixed with it for precaution. By the way Dr Jones I just noticed you’re almost at a million subscribers that’s amazing and so deserved! Thank you for all your information!

it's an extremely high chance of allergic reaction. my aussie nearly died from this vaccine and people need to be educated on the risks of it. it's actually far LESS dangerous to get the bacteria and cure it with common antibiotic than risk your dog literally dying some hours after this shot. also unlike most vaccines this one doesnt present symptoms immediately. they will present hours later, often late at night leaving you to scramble for an ER vet.

I have lepto vaccine PTSD after watching multiple puppies and dogs die right before my eyes on the table at the vet where I worked as a surgical tech within seconds of getting this shot. Some were revived with epinephrine but many were not. My dogs run in the woods daily wading through puddles and standing water and have for 30+ years and they have never had, nor will they ever get a lepto vaccine.

Imagine the trauma of your 12wk old puppy gasping for breath and have a full blown anaphylactic shock 8 hours after this damn shot. That was me. Treating this disease is LESS HARMFUL than the vaccine and with only a 30% chance of the shot actually protecting against the numerous strains of lepto, it simple is NOT worth it. doxycycline is a 5$ RX. A dead puppy from a lepto vaccine has no price.

Disease disease disease. When do you guys ever stop this is sickening. My dogs have the best vaccine in the world it's called 'immune system' Mostly raw food, homemade dog food with all kinds of Vegetables Seasalt Seaweed
Garlic chick pea . Keep feeding the canned food to Your dogs and then you'll be surprised of the diseased outcome. My dog's on excellent Shape. No health issues. They are over ten years old the average person would think they five. Beautiful coat. Also, you guys do not be surprised if your dog have health issues a developed them after getting spayed and neutered. Why not giving the female's a hysterectomy and let them keep their ovaries. Why do you guys think they put on weight after the procedures. Over the years why would that not be contributed to other health issues? I mean, even as of vet. A little bit of common sense can go a long ways . Responsible dog ownership would be the right thing to do instead of neutering in spaying Just cutting away oregons that have crucial functions in the body. And then wanna be surprised when they get sick over the years😂.

Years ago the vet recommended the lepto vaccine for my 5 month old puppy. We left the vet office around 5 pm. He cried all night and in the morning I discovered he had hives all over his abdomen and swelling around his eyes. I called the vet and said he obviously had a reaction to the vaccine. The vet did not want to admit the vaccine was the cause for hives, but did have me bring him in and he was given a shot of benadryl.

it has to be specifically benadryl allergy aka pure diphenhydramine. if there are any other components mixed in, it's NOT dog safe. it's also better to break the tablet in half or crush and mix in food for the absolute fastest ingestion possible.

She was vaccinated for lepto but they treated her for it while they waited on the results. She died in a day. They said it came back positive for lepto from a raccoon. I still say it was bs. If she got it, she got it there .

The vaccine is now combined with the 7 way shots now. I did NOT want my dogs vaccinated for this, but the vet actually vaccinated in a 'booster shot' for this vaccine alone, despite the fact I left the dog for a teeth cleaning , no extractions permitted and nothing else, specifically no booster. I had read that depending on the vaccine it was possible to cause it to shed the disease organism. Sure enough about exactly a week later I started to get sick. I was very sick for a while until I fixed it myself...no, not saying how. I cannot find a decent vet any more. There is some kind of organized for maximum profit vet group out there. They all belong around here, the old country vets seems they were hounded by the vets in the 'organized group' until they just surrendered their licenses like you. THE NEW VETS ALL SUCK. Luckily I know a few things my old retired vet taught me over the years. I trust you and your advice it is a lot like his with the minimalist approach, not the maximum profit ideaology.

In NYC, it’s pretty common for vets to recommend it. There are tons of wild raccoons, rats, and standing water everywhere. The soil is likely contaminated, especially after it rains and snows. My vet recommends it yearly, especially with my having a service dog. He’s never had an issue after getting it. While I wish we didn’t need to use it, it makes sense for our situation. My boy sometimes ends up with minor scrapes from scratching an itch and playing. You just never know if your dog may end up with an open wound. They also sniff everything and occasionally like to briefly lick things as one of their ways of understanding their world. The vet we use is really not generally pushy about stuff nor does their practice attempt to upsell everything (quite the opposite), so when he said he really felt it was necessary, I followed his advice. Thankfully, my boy has been healthy and has had no side effects.

He never had any health issues before. He was now diagnosed with epilepsy, after having had 3 more seizures which where terrifying for him and for us. Our dog is on cbd oil and doing well! They did the iv treatment, they even had to do blood transfusions on him. It all started because he threw up and i took him in to be looked at. Im a veteran with severe ptsd and he was my service animal, best friend, my saviour, and my world. The vet didnt have the lepto test on hand so it was never confirmed. I just want to have a second opinion on if it is what truly took him from me. Its killing me not knowing. I feel like ive failed my battle buddy. I had a female Maltese, Gidget, who developed IMHA (Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia) from a rabies vax. She was older at the time (8 or 9). After a year, the vet managed to pull her out of it and she lived another several years. It was so scary and she never had another shot. I had a letter from the vet so I could get her groomed without even a bordatella. Before this, she’s had the Lyme vax and leptospirosis. After the IMHA episode, the vet recommended no leptospirosis for my two cocker spaniels who are prone to issues from vaxes. I do worry about it because we live in the woods but our yard is fenced so the risk of lepto under these circumstances is low. I miss my Gidgie. ♥️

Thank you so much for this informative video. We had lepto scares this summer and we were told all water are high risks. And it’s fortune to treat the disease requiring kidney dialysis, yet outcome is mostly devastating. Half a dozen dogs were killed within days and it was really scary.
All info was about getting them vaccinated, don’t drink or let them in any water… no one talked about simple doxycycline treatment could work.
Feeling a lot better now that you give us valuable advice because my dog loves water ❤

I had an interesting discussion with my vet about this. She was automatically going to jab my dog for this without consent when I went in for something else. She wasn't happy looking at her face when I gave her data and research to back up why I wasn't vaccinating my dog. As I also said to her, he doesn’t drink out of muddy puddles etc, we always carry fresh water with us for both our dogs and they've both got a great "leave it" cue. So if I think either of them are going to drink out of standing water I can move them away from it and offer them fresh water.

Thank you Dr. Jones for all you do with your vids to share alternative remedies! Have watched so many of your vids, but can’t be sure if you ever talked about, or if you know about this remedy? After the vet scared me talking about lepto in our area, I let her give my shar-pei the shot. The next morning, I woke up to find her with a thick discharge of puss oozing out of her nose. She kept licking her nose to clean it, and I cleaned it the best I could also, but it kept coming out all day, a lot, and she didn't look good at all. I called the vet and they said it was a reaction to the shot and noted in her chart that she's allergic to it and to never give it to her again. Thankfully, she was back to normal after a few days. Never again, for any of my dogs!

Hi, just wanted to say thank you for all the wonderful information you share. I’m also glad to know about some of your homeopathic medicines. I have a Pomeranian who is 17 years old and have a question for you. She has a heart valve not working. She is on 2 heart medicines plus 2 urine pills. What I selfishly want to know is there anything you can recommend for her heart valve. Gracie is a real trooper. She had surgery for a very large hernia. Vet said it was 50-50 chance of surviving the surgery. She did! More than you want to know right. . . I’m still wondering if you can help with medication or not. I’ll understand if you don’t have any to. Thanks.

I had to put my Chihuahua to sleep he was about 17 year's old. We don't know because we rescued him the vet estimated by his teeth and other issues. He became very ill and they said he was in kidney failure he went downhill very quickly. We did everything we could he was so little he stopped eating, drinking and couldn't even walk. I had to give him water with a syringe he never improved. It was absolutely heartbreaking. 😭

My puppy (8months now, 4-5months at the time) did get the lepto vaccine bc she’s wild and dove into a swampy mud puddle by my house and went for something floating in the water, almost got it in her mouth 😑definitely got some of the goop in her mouth. Ate deer poop and other unknown animals poop, stuck her snout in rainy mud puddle water, etc. She was fine, is completely healthy & thank god had no reaction to the vaccine. Fortunately she has since stopped eating random shit & diving into dirty swampy water/puddles, so she should be good on getting that vaccine in the future. She did, however, have a horrible reaction to the rabies vaccine & she now hates the vet. Unfortunately I live in a state where the vaccine is required- so she’ll need one again next year & I’m dreading the day. 😰

@@ladyfarrier5949 …regardless, I think it’s required by law, no? I think re-vaccination is required within 1 year of the first.
