The thing that I love about this game is how it’s revived the good old days when people found glitches and cheats in old school games that people would discover all the time
For all the people dying early: you NEED 100% to apply the correct power-ups in the main menu. Especially Amount, Cooldown Reduction, Speed, Duration as you need these to keep the Rune in place ALL the times. Otherwise you will die around 23-27 minutes and not make it to the Reaper. This is due to the 0.1-0.2 second gap between recasting your spell, if you have not equipped the power-ups mentioned above. You WILL take damage because there are so many enemies that they will push through, hence you need these power-ups.
I wanted to know if this still worked with recent updates, but given the date of your post I think I found my answer and I'll try it tonight. I did previously manage the kill 2 reapers in a 34 min library run, but I didn't unlock him so I'm going to try this.
I used the right stuff and sat nearly in the same exact spot as Nathan and I took some damage. Made it to 30 min and got killed. The red gem placement is pretty important lol
@@barryschalkwijk9388 that was exactly the “mindblowing” thought I had when I died constantly at 24-25 mins. Now it makes totally sense. I really noticed the difference (even though I would still take some damage), I could make it to the reaper so much easier. I got it when I could take the Bone Weapen (pog). Have you killed the Reaper by now?
This is the best guide out there. Got it on 2nd try - highly recommended since it covers most important thing - positioning which gives you invulnerability to survive through this challenge! 10/10
The tome bug was fixed recently, so there is no need for this specific leveling order. Amazing guide nevertheless, definitely the best one I saw on the topic.
Amazing guide! I beat him despite spacing out and NOT getting the Empty Tome at all. All the other tips were so good it didn't matter! I even lasted 36:05, I was pretty impressed.
I did this without getting the Tome at all due to crap luck. Thought I'd try to finish it out and it worked . This video gave me the confidence to actually attempt this. Thanks, you're a legend!
Thank you so much for this guide, I did it on my second attempt. On my successful run I was lucky enough to get the bone; and "lucky" enough to get the biggest chest and max my runetracer early which didn't matter anyway because I didn't get the book. Still managed to win because second death got stuck on the left. Thanks again ;)
thank you for your guide ive been trying to do this for more than 5 days now and the reason is because i dont know that the reaper health is higher the higher your level is and i kept trying to level up before the reaper comes

Got it on my second try! It’s extremely helpful now, like someone else commented, that you don’t have to worry about the order you upgrade in anymore. The first run I lost because I started getting hit by enemies randomly around the 25 minute mark. I may have been slightly off on where I was standing. Second try went flawlessly.
Even when I get it pixel perfect, can't do it at all after 5 tries. Sometimes the flying enemies give me too much XP before the 3 minute mark, often times I get no chests so my runetracer doesn't do enough damage to keep the amount of enemies from piling up, and the farthest I get is 27 minutes before my runetracer flies away completely and I die.

One big thing to add to this: the reaper can bug out when it dies and instead of dying, it gets glitched to just stay on screen. It's no longer 'active' i.e. can't hit you or get hit, but it also doesn't count as it dying. It happened to me on my first 'kill' and it took me like ten more attempts to get another kill. Apparently this happens when you kill it while it isn't frozen (just from hearsay, no source on that), which would make it pretty unlikely. But it can happen and it suuuucks. Also thanks for the explanation, would have helped a lot in my runs if I knew the spellbinder version was optimal. Most of my failures were to not getting to red gem, but a couple ended because my DPS wasn't high enough to kill before IIRC the fourth reaper spawn that kills you.
This just happend to me i think. Everything was fine but he just never died, spawned 5 extra before they killed me but never got the kill on the first guy :/ Thanks for explaining why.
After the fix of timings on upgarde, you need to do the following: Upgrades: Duplicaor, Tome, Bracer, Spellbinder and Spinach are needed. I messed up royally and didn't even get the tome and still did it with this guide following some of the rest of it, mostly just the positioning and whatnot, definitely the best way

Actives: evolved knife, evolved holy wand, runetracer, santa water, laurel, clock lancelet. Passives: tiragisu, candelabrador, duplicator, bracer, spinach, tome. Tiragisu is a must, since reaper defroze couple of times and kept hitting me till laurel wore off. Could be because that timing of lancelet freezing is messed up by me getting tome.
My dad and I both play this game and I used this guide to finally unlock the secret character after about a month or so of him having unlocked it already. Thanks!
Dunno why I finished with only 64 lvl after picking red gem, but I did it, thank you. :) Although I died from mobs around 27 minutes in, even if I was standing in same spot like you.

Managed to do the set up correctly, but I somehow glitched the game and prevented my first reaper to spawn. Then the second reaper got stuck on the bookshelf and was outside the killzone until the third on pushed him. And I died when the fourth one showed up. I wanted to cheat death but death ended up cheating instead and made me waste half an hour.
Just had this happen as well. I wonder if this is a "fix" on the developer part to make sure that he won't spawn until a certain lvl so there's a minimum HP pool to beat through.
The second time this happened to me I did a quick dip to the bottom of the screen on my way to get into position and then they came at me. They might just be stuck off-screen and need you to get low enough to dislodge them.
Worked first try a year later. Made it all the way to minute 35:30. Something weird hapened where I only got to level 63 and didn't actually get to level 100, but it still worked. Because of this, though, the second Death bumbed into the first one and moved it out of the range of Lancet, but it moved into the next spot so it still froze, thankfully. Thanks a lot!
Finally got a reaper kill! I noticed that Laurel is important to get, since there's a chance that you get hit by reaper when they unfreeze for a quick second. So, I'd say if you're just trying to unlock Red Death, make sure to get Clock Lancet AND Laurel both.
on my third attempt, still on an unlucky run, i managed to kill the reaper even without the toms(yes.), i had spinach, bracer, candelabrador, spellbinder, duplicator and santa water, rune tracer, clock lancet, laurel, knife, fire wand, i did all placement well tho, and knife and fire wand evolded so even when the set-up isn't perfect you should still try your run anyway, you never know sometimes RNG is with you ;)
I always died to the witches when I was doing this strat, but when I was doing the red cape run, I got a build that healed so much hp that it could tank the 4 reapers' damage and I got to minute like 34:30 or sth and then the same thing happened as after the capella magna boss fight, all reapers died and a white invunerable death killed me and I was surprised that I got the Red Death lol. In my opinion this is the easier way, you just have to run to left after minute 30:00 starts, anyways here's my build I was using: -character: Lama -at least 3 revives (its good to get the awake arcana at the start), I had 7, but wasted 4 on white death at the end -Gemini arcana (not necessary, but faster xp with guns) -axe (not evolved bc i was playing with lama to get slash arcana) -empty tome (also not evolved) -pentagram + crown (gorgeous moon generates and collects xp) -king's bible + spellbinder -laurel + red pieces for cape (to find them you need yellow sign, to get it just reach minute 15 in moongolow and get through the corridor) v ---------- V Get these first V ---------- v (So you unlock slots for more evo's) -super whip - hollow heart + whip -> evolved whip + union with vento sacro (unlocked by surviving 15 minutes with Zi' Assunta - unlocked by defeating the coffin guards at the bottom of capella magna - you already have this stage if you got yellow sign) -Phierragi (evolved guns) - Tiragisu + blue gun + red gun If you are using a character that already has one of those, you will have a free weapon slot, It's good to get a clock lancet there, so it buys you some extra time freezing the grim reapers, anyways Good Luck! Thank you for the detailed guide. I killed Death on my first try! I think got lucky. I expected Death to immediately be upon me, but 10 seconds passed with no sight of him. Turns out, he got stuck somewhere off-screen, and got unstuck only once I started moving south. Gave me plenty of time to pick up EXP crystals.
Thanks for actually explaining it in detail. No one else explained the red experience gem thing, they simply say "oh it has all the experience". Thank you!! How did you find out about all these mechanics? Is there a post somewhere explaining it? Did someone go through the code to figure it out?
Most of the mechanics I guessed at as I was playing the game and later had confirmed reading comments on the Discord. Several players have dug into the code to try to understand how some mechanics work.
This still works as of v0.5.0e. I would suggest the following Randomazzos: Awake, Slash & Chaos in the Dark Night. DO NOT pick up Lost & Found Painting as it will mess with the duration of the freeze.
@@ondrejrubas7268 You have to make sure that you have all of the power ups listed in the video, but also your positioning needs to be spot on. There are several spots where the runetracer will get stuck, but every few minutes it will have an odd bounce. If this is the case, you're slightly off center. It just takes a little practice to get the right positioning. The 25min.boss should not be able to push in if you have the correct power ups. Also, start with the Awake Randomazzos.
Thanks dude managed to kill my death....having both cross and downward knife makes a ton more DPS ....managed to kill 2 deaths before dying strangely my red gem appears on my left side from all my tries 0% curse on HYPER library surprisingly on that run I didnt get tiragisu...I have store resu but no tiragisu on current update
I tried this and for some reason I just couldn't deal enough dmg. Survived till 33:25 but first reaper still alive UPDATE: tried a few more runs and it was either the missing candelabrador or my placement, but I managed to kill it at about 32:40. Traping the Runetracers correctly can actually be really tricky (shorter "paths" for maximum damage). Survived till 35:13 :D
just failed my run too, way low runetracer dmg both cause of pathing, and my first chest was a penta upgrade doing runetracer all the way before other buffs :( think my RT dmg was 1.4m while guide here had over 5
@@Coffeepotion yeah I got it on the next try, just in the reaper phase runetracer was going slightly wrong first time, down to the starting position instead of bouncing straight back n forth :) had to study the positioning a little more closely. Strat definitely still worked as of 2 days ago
I don’t think this works anymore. I can’t even get the first step to work. Works for 18 minutes and then the run tracer starts moving around more for no reason
This was modified with the most recent patch. I made an update video (see pinned comment) which explains how the strat has changed with this bug removed.
thanks for the video, man! really helped me in my road to killing a God (of Death)!! maybe something to mention is Santa Water evolve is kind of decent against him (it's what I ended up changing in my winning run that seemed to help) since it'll attract towards him.
I think the new Arcana's (at least the easiest 3 to get) kind of mess this up, so be careful. You definitely don't want the duration or speed modifiers (I used the Crit one myself and pulled the health one from a chest after 30minutes). My character's belt had to be on the 2nd layer of molding on the wall. I was a bit above like the video mentioned and took some damage from the Medusa's at 27 minutes. My hand was a little to the right of the lamp marker, so I think there's some leeway there. I ultimately failed though because the reaper refused to walk to the top of the table (or was chain frozen below it) so I was doing no damage without the runetracer lock. Will try again- but the element of needing reaper placement as well is a bit frustrating.
Honestly I can’t say I believe this was a legit attempt, or at least if it was then the devs must’ve buffed the hell out of Death. I’ve tried this exact strategy all day today at least 20-30+ times and every time it’s been a fail. Not a fail as in I did something wrong, I lived to 30mins almost every single time, the problem is Death doesn’t die in 1 minute like this video shows in my game. I’ve perfectly nailed Death with Runetracer and even got the Jail of Crystal Arcana card to freeze him so much it makes him a joke. Problem is I’ve went over 33mins (close to 34) of just blasting the Death that spawns while I’m still lvl2 with the exact same build used here, and for no reason Death will not die. Again idk if they’ve changed the game since this run but if they haven’t, then this run looks pretty sus compared to what I’m dealing with in the game.

@@whywegottadie I tried this method, can’t get the Runetracer when doing it. I can, but not with this specific set up. I believe I need the Crimson Shroud at this point because I got into a fatal 7 minute showdown (made it to 37:00 minute mark) with a whole motley crew of Deaths ☠️
I just beat the reaper by accident...my plan was just to unlock either infinite corridor or crimson shroud for the first time. Started as Iguana, got thunder loop, soul eater, la borra, and holy wand, maxed out clock and laurel, then used Mad Grove arcana to get all the pickups at the same time. got it in 30 seconds
After a couple of attempts I've managed to get everything set up exactly the way you recommend, but it seems like the lancet doesn't perma freeze him... I did everything the way you said, Spellbinder > lancet to max > tome to max > everything else, got myself into the correct position, but Death just unfreezes after a bit and kills me. Tiragisu saved me twice, then dead... is it possible that something has been changed/fixed in terms of lancet stunlock?
I just did it with that build and it worked, did you get spellbinder max first? the constraints are pretty annoying to max two things before ever getting tome
I tried for several hours yesterday. Also in Hurry Mode, with Hyper, with Arcanas (Sarabande of Healing). Once with Arcansas and a revive (from the power-up) I made it, but didn't get to the gems fast enough, as they are all far on the edge due to Arcansas. At one point I died at 29:50. Unfortunately, it does not work on the Switch in version 1.6 as shown in the video. After 25 minutes, either the runetracer jumps away or the opponents press up against you anyway. I have tried at least 10 runs with different positioning. I see a correlation between the behavior of the ruentracer and the amount of enemies on the screen. If anyone else can provide useful info please feel free. I found a crappy video today where @dope2infinity968 makes it on the switch. But there is no closer info than the weapon setup to see.
If the biggest thing that can end a run early is getting "unlucky" by getting a Petachest that maxes your Runetracer too early, wouldn't it make more sense to turn the Luck powerup off also (like Magnet/Growth)? It's not useful for anything anyway, right? Without it, the chances of only getting single reward chests is much higher (.. I think?)
Probably wouldn’t hurt but I never personally found it necessary. Definitely more relevant with the chest spawn changes from the last patch which I anecdotally found increases the number of chests I open before 30 minute mark.
@@NeverNathaniel Other feedback: - I was just killed by a 2nd death rushing over, I would THINK that got aggroed by a Hellfire shooting it from way offscreen? Dunno what else would've caused it. If that's the case, probably Hellfire is also an "avoid" pickup? - Picking up lvl3 early gives Death a bunch more HP, but also allows you to split the treasure chest rewards between multiple, and might have other benefits? I did this by accident, but it just made me get lvl5 Lancet before I even had to dive for the Red Gem, which looked more useful than anything? Overall very nice guide, I haven't managed to kill him yet, but I understood all the "steps" I think and just gotta get a bit luckier. Many thanks!
As of 11:22 PM EST another reaper shall never be feared! Thank you for this guide, it was a huge help. I ended up going with Cross instead of knife because on an earlier attempt I kept freezing the reaper outside of the little cubbyhole that I needed to get him into. I played on normal mode with zero arcanas and only one revive. I tried this on hyper mode but I kept getting swarmed around the 20 minute mark and the rune tracer and Santa water just couldn't keep up despite being evolved by intentionally picking up a few chest pre-emptively to boost their damage to compensate for the hyper horde of deadites . My end level was 63.

Nice. Fire wand is probably not a good pick, tho. Only take weapons that are contained by that space. Garlic would be better. Just don't level it too large, if you can avoid it. Really appreciate the explanation about what to level and in what order. Great stuff. Liked and subscribed!

plus there is a secret character unlock bound to this that is pretty impossible to unlock if you dont abuse these mechanics.
If you like this mindset, you should check any speedrun comunity around any game. Basicly the same.
There's also a cheat code you can input in the menu to unlock a secret character. Really reminiscent of old school games!

So I did this on the new console version( Xbox Series X) and I had the character right up against the wall and it still worked. 💪

Just had this happen as well. I wonder if this is a "fix" on the developer part to make sure that he won't spawn until a certain lvl so there's a minimum HP pool to beat through.
The second time this happened to me I did a quick dip to the bottom of the screen on my way to get into position and then they came at me. They might just be stuck off-screen and need you to get low enough to dislodge them.
just tried today 4/16/2022 and it worked perfectly. you also can now upgrade in any order because tome was fixed last patch. i killed 2 of em!

Worked first try a year later. Made it all the way to minute 35:30. Something weird hapened where I only got to level 63 and didn't actually get to level 100, but it still worked. Because of this, though, the second Death bumbed into the first one and moved it out of the range of Lancet, but it moved into the next spot so it still froze, thankfully. Thanks a lot!
Finally got a reaper kill! I noticed that Laurel is important to get, since there's a chance that you get hit by reaper when they unfreeze for a quick second. So, I'd say if you're just trying to unlock Red Death, make sure to get Clock Lancet AND Laurel both.

The mistake I was making was I was in Hurry Mode, which doesn’t give you as much experience since only the clock speeds up.

on my third attempt, still on an unlucky run, i managed to kill the reaper even without the toms(yes.),
i had spinach, bracer, candelabrador, spellbinder, duplicator and santa water, rune tracer, clock lancet, laurel, knife, fire wand,
i did all placement well tho, and knife and fire wand evolded
so even when the set-up isn't perfect you should still try your run anyway, you never know sometimes RNG is with you ;)

Just today the tome bug was fixed, the order is not important anymore
I always died to the witches when I was doing this strat, but when I was doing the red cape run, I got a build that healed so much hp that it could tank the 4 reapers' damage and I got to minute like 34:30 or sth and then the same thing happened as after the capella magna boss fight, all reapers died and a white invunerable death killed me and I was surprised that I got the Red Death lol. In my opinion this is the easier way, you just have to run to left after minute 30:00 starts, anyways here's my build I was using:
-character: Lama
-at least 3 revives (its good to get the awake arcana at the start), I had 7, but wasted 4 on white death at the end
-Gemini arcana (not necessary, but faster xp with guns)
-axe (not evolved bc i was playing with lama to get slash arcana)
-empty tome (also not evolved)
-pentagram + crown (gorgeous moon generates and collects xp)
-king's bible + spellbinder
-laurel + red pieces for cape (to find them you need yellow sign, to get it just reach minute 15 in moongolow and get through the corridor)
v ---------- V Get these first V ---------- v
(So you unlock slots for more evo's)
-super whip - hollow heart + whip -> evolved whip + union with vento sacro (unlocked by surviving 15 minutes with Zi' Assunta - unlocked by defeating the coffin guards at the bottom of capella magna - you already have this stage if you got yellow sign)
-Phierragi (evolved guns) - Tiragisu + blue gun + red gun
If you are using a character that already has one of those, you will have a free weapon slot, It's good to get a clock lancet there, so it buys you some extra time freezing the grim reapers, anyways Good Luck! I hope you get the red death asap :)

I think got lucky. I expected Death to immediately be upon me, but 10 seconds passed with no sight of him. Turns out, he got stuck somewhere off-screen, and got unstuck only once I started moving south. Gave me plenty of time to pick up EXP crystals.
Thanks for actually explaining it in detail. No one else explained the red experience gem thing, they simply say "oh it has all the experience". Thank you!! How did you find out about all these mechanics? Is there a post somewhere explaining it? Did someone go through the code to figure it out?
Most of the mechanics I guessed at as I was playing the game and later had confirmed reading comments on the Discord. Several players have dug into the code to try to understand how some mechanics work.

It's almost impossible to kill 2. The first one u needed almost 1min to kill if the 2:and has 60x the HP u need to do dmg for almost a hour.
This still works as of v0.5.0e. I would suggest the following Randomazzos: Awake, Slash & Chaos in the Dark Night.
DO NOT pick up Lost & Found Painting as it will mess with the duration of the freeze.
just died at 25 mins, mobs just got much more hp, any idea what to do? i was lvl 2 whole time
@@ondrejrubas7268 You have to make sure that you have all of the power ups listed in the video, but also your positioning needs to be spot on. There are several spots where the runetracer will get stuck, but every few minutes it will have an odd bounce. If this is the case, you're slightly off center. It just takes a little practice to get the right positioning. The 25min.boss should not be able to push in if you have the correct power ups. Also, start with the Awake Randomazzos.

strangely my red gem appears on my left side from all my tries

surprisingly on that run I didnt get tiragisu...I have store resu but no tiragisu on current update
Still works despite people claiming it’s been patched. I even forgot to select the Empty Tome and managed to make it to the 4th reaper
I tried this and for some reason I just couldn't deal enough dmg. Survived till 33:25 but first reaper still alive
UPDATE: tried a few more runs and it was either the missing candelabrador or my placement, but I managed to kill it at about 32:40. Traping the Runetracers correctly can actually be really tricky (shorter "paths" for maximum damage). Survived till 35:13 :D
just failed my run too, way low runetracer dmg both cause of pathing, and my first chest was a penta upgrade doing runetracer all the way before other buffs :( think my RT dmg was 1.4m while guide here had over 5
@@str4nd3n3s It's either the new patches, or the "trapping". It's not easy to get right and makes a whole lot of a difference.
@@Coffeepotion yeah I got it on the next try, just in the reaper phase runetracer was going slightly wrong first time, down to the starting position instead of bouncing straight back n forth :) had to study the positioning a little more closely. Strat definitely still worked as of 2 days ago

I don’t think this works anymore. I can’t even get the first step to work. Works for 18 minutes and then the run tracer starts moving around more for no reason
This right here. Works great until around 20 minutes then rune tracers becomes unstuck behind chair and I die. Tried 4 times now.
Just did this on the May 8th (0.5.2) release, so still working!
wait so tome doesn't affect items if they're already lvl 8 when u pick it up?
This was modified with the most recent patch. I made an update video (see pinned comment) which explains how the strat has changed with this bug removed.

thanks for the video, man! really helped me in my road to killing a God (of Death)!! maybe something to mention is Santa Water evolve is kind of decent against him (it's what I ended up changing in my winning run that seemed to help) since it'll attract towards him.
I think the new Arcana's (at least the easiest 3 to get) kind of mess this up, so be careful. You definitely don't want the duration or speed modifiers (I used the Crit one myself and pulled the health one from a chest after 30minutes).
My character's belt had to be on the 2nd layer of molding on the wall. I was a bit above like the video mentioned and took some damage from the Medusa's at 27 minutes. My hand was a little to the right of the lamp marker, so I think there's some leeway there.
I ultimately failed though because the reaper refused to walk to the top of the table (or was chain frozen below it) so I was doing no damage without the runetracer lock. Will try again- but the element of needing reaper placement as well is a bit frustrating.

Honestly I can’t say I believe this was a legit attempt, or at least if it was then the devs must’ve buffed the hell out of Death. I’ve tried this exact strategy all day today at least 20-30+ times and every time it’s been a fail. Not a fail as in I did something wrong, I lived to 30mins almost every single time, the problem is Death doesn’t die in 1 minute like this video shows in my game. I’ve perfectly nailed Death with Runetracer and even got the Jail of Crystal Arcana card to freeze him so much it makes him a joke. Problem is I’ve went over 33mins (close to 34) of just blasting the Death that spawns while I’m still lvl2 with the exact same build used here, and for no reason Death will not die.
Again idk if they’ve changed the game since this run but if they haven’t, then this run looks pretty sus compared to what I’m dealing with in the game.

@@whywegottadie I tried this method, can’t get the Runetracer when doing it. I can, but not with this specific set up. I believe I need the Crimson Shroud at this point because I got into a fatal 7 minute showdown (made it to 37:00 minute mark) with a whole motley crew of Deaths ☠️

Why is it when I get to 23 minutes I die every time
I just beat the reaper by accident...my plan was just to unlock either infinite corridor or crimson shroud for the first time. Started as Iguana, got thunder loop, soul eater, la borra, and holy wand, maxed out clock and laurel, then used Mad Grove arcana to get all the pickups at the same time. got it in 30 seconds
After a couple of attempts I've managed to get everything set up exactly the way you recommend, but it seems like the lancet doesn't perma freeze him... I did everything the way you said, Spellbinder > lancet to max > tome to max > everything else, got myself into the correct position, but Death just unfreezes after a bit and kills me. Tiragisu saved me twice, then dead... is it possible that something has been changed/fixed in terms of lancet stunlock?
I just did it with that build and it worked, did you get spellbinder max first? the constraints are pretty annoying to max two things before ever getting tome

I tried for several hours yesterday. Also in Hurry Mode, with Hyper, with Arcanas (Sarabande of Healing). Once with Arcansas and a revive (from the power-up) I made it, but didn't get to the gems fast enough, as they are all far on the edge due to Arcansas. At one point I died at 29:50.
Unfortunately, it does not work on the Switch in version 1.6 as shown in the video. After 25 minutes, either the runetracer jumps away or the opponents press up against you anyway. I have tried at least 10 runs with different positioning. I see a correlation between the behavior of the ruentracer and the amount of enemies on the screen.
If anyone else can provide useful info please feel free.
I found a crappy video today where @dope2infinity968 makes it on the switch. But there is no closer info than the weapon setup to see.
I jus discovered this game..an I've never geeked out over a game that's mobile..but this one takes the cake
If the biggest thing that can end a run early is getting "unlucky" by getting a Petachest that maxes your Runetracer too early, wouldn't it make more sense to turn the Luck powerup off also (like Magnet/Growth)? It's not useful for anything anyway, right? Without it, the chances of only getting single reward chests is much higher (.. I think?)
Probably wouldn’t hurt but I never personally found it necessary. Definitely more relevant with the chest spawn changes from the last patch which I anecdotally found increases the number of chests I open before 30 minute mark.
@@NeverNathaniel Other feedback:
- I was just killed by a 2nd death rushing over, I would THINK that got aggroed by a Hellfire shooting it from way offscreen? Dunno what else would've caused it. If that's the case, probably Hellfire is also an "avoid" pickup?
- Picking up lvl3 early gives Death a bunch more HP, but also allows you to split the treasure chest rewards between multiple, and might have other benefits? I did this by accident, but it just made me get lvl5 Lancet before I even had to dive for the Red Gem, which looked more useful than anything?
Overall very nice guide, I haven't managed to kill him yet, but I understood all the "steps" I think and just gotta get a bit luckier. Many thanks!

As of 11:22 PM EST another reaper shall never be feared! Thank you for this guide, it was a huge help. I ended up going with Cross instead of knife because on an earlier attempt I kept freezing the reaper outside of the little cubbyhole that I needed to get him into. I played on normal mode with zero arcanas and only one revive. I tried this on hyper mode but I kept getting swarmed around the 20 minute mark and the rune tracer and Santa water just couldn't keep up despite being evolved by intentionally picking up a few chest pre-emptively to boost their damage to compensate for the hyper horde of deadites . My end level was 63.

Nice. Fire wand is probably not a good pick, tho. Only take weapons that are contained by that space. Garlic would be better. Just don't level it too large, if you can avoid it. Really appreciate the explanation about what to level and in what order. Great stuff. Liked and subscribed!
