I laughed at the question "why do you put flour on it"? Fabio: "We have always done it that way." Well that is good enough for me. That's how I was taught!

Love the weather portion of the video. Reminds me of when I go out in Santa Ana Wind conditions and sail in Long Beach (aka Hurricane Alley). You'd get from 40 knots to over, steady, 70 knots of wind. Sailboats would be out in force and getting blown over in force too. Happened to me my first time there on my NACRA 5.8 back in the '80s. In college I raced Shields there.
@@HarborsUnknown Before I ever tried sailing in that kind of wind I had taken sailing courses at the OCC Sailing Center in Newport Beach and our instructor took us out twice in Santa Ana Winds. We were on a Shields 30' monohull and going so fast we left a rooster tail behind us. I only wish those boats has a speed indicator. All I can say is that at first it was like the first time I was ever on a big rollercoaster as a kid. Then you get used to it and start having fun .... cautious fun.
@@HarborsUnknown I've been watching a few of your videos now and they've been very informative. While I'll never be well enough again to drive back to California from the middle of the Utah desert and get on a boat, I can recall my times sailing, and I did love it.

Good locally produced produce, simply cooked is always the best , that food looked really good 😃 I’ve tended to stay away from swordfish , as I’ve been disappointed by it too many times , I’d normally cook white fishes with a dusting of flour as I think it gives a subtle crisply finish and absorbs the juices from the fish which would otherwise be left in the pan , but as Fabio implied , it’s something you were taught to do, so you always do it 😉 That sailing looked like fun , ok , I wasn’t there , but that looked more like rough weather rather than bad . As always , all the best , and thanks for sharing.
😂😂You got us on the click baity title, it was kind of rough. Swordfish definitely depends on the fish itself. We've had amazing fresh caught swordfish and of course dry but this was quite tasty. The tomatoes and zucchini were delicious! Thanks for watching!!

Can't tell you the tears that came out when I saw the Newport Bay Bridge as you sailed under there and into the Narraganset Bay. I went to Highschool in Newport and Middletown, Graduated from Middletown Highschool, new many from Portsmouth as well. I learned to sail as a kid in Newport, RI, and made many trips underneath that same bridge. I recall a rather windy day taking a 14-footer out with my mother and sister and heeling the boat so much that water came over the gun rails, such an exciting sail that day, although my mother and sister refused to ever go out with me ever again, lol. Well, I did get them out many years later when we went out on a 28-footer on the Chesapeake that was a much nicer sail and seemed to heal old wounds, lol. Thank you for sharing such an amazing and memorable adventure! P.S. I remember the CORN up that way as it has a distinct taste and flavor to it that is different than down south. Something about the air and soil that just permeates throw each kernel. And I agree, the best way to eat and taste what nature and God created is to eat the food RAW. I like eating corn, tomatoes, and zucchini and squash raw as well, the flavors just POP. However, I did grow up eating it just like you all did with the onions, spices, and butter all in a pan like that. I can smell it cooking as we speak, mmmmmmm. Good memories all around!
Thanks for sharing your beautiful memories Michael! I'm (Kristin) not a big fan for water over the gun rails either but it can be exhilarating, lol. We haven't had corn in ages but boy was it sweet and delicious! We're so happy you enjoyed our video. Thanks for watching!

Ok here is how we butter 🧈 our corn 🌽 in the South. You take your bread put the butter 🧈 on it and take your corn 🌽 on a cob and rub the corn on the bread 🍞. If you're going to let your dog on deck unattached, or otherwise, you should consider adding netting along the railings. Also, you can get some birds that could take off with him. A sealion grabbing him wouldn't be out of the question either if the dog was exposed at the back of the boat. I've had one jump up and onto my boat out of the blue. He was after our catch. They can be bad news if you're away from your boat. You could come back to several of them camping out on the stern. At least in SoCal there were. Newport, Dana Point, Seal Beach (no pun intended).
Yeah, we're debating about adding netting along the railings. Most of the time she's with us in the cockpit and never out there unattended. We don't have sea lion's where we are but I've seen videos of what a nuisance they can be!

Like most family sailing cats it looks miserable to pilot in bad weather or in cold climates. Might as well be sailing a Hobie in a rain jacket for all the protection you get. I'm not being a Troll. I just cannot fathom how poorly designed some of these cats are. I saw a review video of a supposedly brilliantly designed boat, with the sink jambed into a position where you had to bend over sideways to reach the right side of it since it was blocked by the stove top, plus you had to worry about burning your right arm every time you'd want to do food prep or clean a dish while cooking. At least there are some signs of better designs emerging. Boat designers don't seem to take things used elsewhere in the world in designing their boats. They might be great in hull design and be able to squeeze out an extra knot or two heading into the wind but I see nothing but poorly designed ventilation in all these boat review videos. Designers need to explore the world, where you're average B series campervan has 10x better ventilation. Cross ventilation is worthless if you don't have a breeze. You run into that a lot on sailboats, usually when you're going out in the mornings. So you create your own in cabin breeze using an exhaust fan somewhere conveniently placed on the boat which will pull air from outside into whatever space you need to cool. Before I ever had a home with an AC I heard about this trick to keep cool at night. I'd close up all the windows, put a box fan in one and use cardboard to seal the rest of the window then set the fan to blow air out the window. Any room I wanted cooled off at night I'd just crack open the window in that room, and negative air pressure from the box fan did all the work. You didn't have to open the window all the way because it would be too cold then, even on a hot summer night. Few cats have windows designed to keep out the hot sun, they love that streamlined sweptback look that turns your salon into an oven in the daytime. That might be a plus sailing under freezing conditions but otherwise a nightmare. They love to put beds where you can't simply wake up, put your legs over the side of the bed and stand up. No, you have to scoot on your *ss down the length of the bed waking up the other person and in some designs you can't even do that without hitting your head. Then there's the fun of making the bed on many of the models, and you all know what I'm talking about. how many boats come with that under mattress material that helps prevent mold from growing? I never see reviewers look for that in their reviews. Only after the fact boat owners seem to hear about it. I also love designs that place something that could explode or catch fire under the bed. Brilliant. Then there's this new 'feature' of folding doors that you then swing up and stow in the ceiling. Like at some point that's not going to fail and come crashing down killing someone. How about lifeboats that are impossible to get out in the water in time of emergency. Very few designs will let you do it in time. And the boats with rain capture built in? I hope you're using a good, no a really good, filter because all that rain has probably caught some bird p**p, dead bugs or other dead things and added it to the tank. Which will require a frequent good cleaning out or replacement before you know it. You have electrical lines carrying high voltage and no way to tell your positive or ground. (See the Wynns video, also see the video where a wave ripped their lifeboat off and left a big hole in the middle of their boat during a two week crossing. See, that's (great?) designing. I applaud some designs, boats with auto-pilot and power winches, remote controls that let you steer the boat from anywhere. I don't understand why fly bridges that can be sealed tight from the weather aren't more popular? Is it that you lose sail area? Yeah, you do, but it's down at the bottom of the sail where turbulence from the boat interferes with a clean wind. If you want to add back the square footage of sail you either make the mast taller (which would limit you going under some fixed bridges) or simply add it along the trailing edge of the sail. It floors me at some of the tiny spinnakers certain boats have. It's like having your 95 year old grandma give your car a push. But, as I said above, the #1 design flaw I see on nearly every boat is the control station. Time for the backlash to commence! Have at it folks. I'll take any and all constructive criticism but Trolls and flamers will either be ignored or the more stupid comments that catch my ire, and like the Hulk says, you don't want to see me when I'm angry, or receive my (hopefully) blistering and brilliant reply.
