    Except for the last episode I kinda got the vibe.
    I loved Lily's performance, she has such a great presence and her mental breakdown scene was so spot on I couldn't believe.

      Same. I really do see the vision lol but it’s not a common opinion. I loved Lily in this, I hope she doesn’t allow the negative feedback to stop her, she’s great.

    I was one of the only few that didn’t like it, but LOVED it until episode 5. Was episode 5 a good episode? Yes. Was it a good finale? Absolutely not. Now there’s a massive plot hole. Why was Jocelyn crying for her mother? How did Troye Sivan’s character witness the abuse if it didn’t happen? And it kinda felt like they rushed some character development, even in ep 4 too. I still LIKE the show due to how entertaining it is putting aside the massive plot hole. I just can’t love it and knowing that it’s now cancelled, I just can’t defend the writing of this show. However, I can definitely defend what this show is trying to depict and the message. This is not a misogynistic show for portraying abuse and misogyny. Just as the show Breaking Bad isn’t promoting drugs by depicting what it’s like to be a drug dealer with a family. Also Abel’s acting wasn’t bad in most scenes. Still gonna rewatch it & enjoy it.

    • @naturalnaela
      @naturalnaela  6 месяцев назад +1

      See this was me the first time I watched it, ofc I was a little more critical the second time but I absolutely loved it the first time, until episode 5.
      I agree though, I didn’t see it as misogynistic either. I really do think the people who were meant to understand the show, do and that’s ok. I didn’t think his acting was that bad, I didn’t feel like I was watching The Weeknd and that’s important.
      Sad the plot holes won’t get cleared up.

    I’m not alone!! I enjoyed it very much except for the last episode. Felt like they rushed through it and didn’t tie things together, but I was definitely enjoying the season. Also, I’m a bad movie fan too lol. I especially love the ones that are meant to be dramas but I laugh the entire time lol

      You are not ALONE!! 🤣🤣 if they would have expanded on that last episode and cleaned up some of those loose ends, I would have thought it was great, but I did enjoy it for what it was.
      I get the side eye from my friends for liking bad movies but there’s def an audience for them..and I’m in it 💀 Tubi is a gold mine.

    I feel like the show shouldve been more focused on joss than weeknd character and they didnt go in dept with joss life and her story there was just a narrative like this or that about her but not any visual so it kinda was not it but I mean if u like glits, glam and club life kinda vibe and dont care much about story it might be it for u

    • @naturalnaela
      @naturalnaela  6 месяцев назад +1

      It’s funny that you mentioned glitz and glam bc Euphoria had all that and I actually did not like that show, especially everyone’s fav, season 1.
      But agreed, they should have went way more into Joss’s background. If they had more eps or another season I think they would have but it’s unfortunate that that won’t happen now

    I liked it too and I think its because from the get go I knew that it wasn't going to be that easily digestible and leave you feeling somewhat questioning what the hell you just watched but even so I just feel like as much as Sam has written questionable characters...His just really good at writing questionable characters (now if thats by genius or accident we will never know).

    Though very disturbing, I really liked the show and found Lilly to be quite a gifted actor. However, I couldn't stand The Weekend. His egotistical narcissism took over the entire show. His damn songs were constantly played, all through every episode. His acting was horrible.
    The character is necessary, but the Weekend, playing that character and taking over the show and singing through the whole show, was not necessary. He ruined the entire show -- in my opinion.
    It's my opinion that the weekend is the reason the show was canceled. People could not stand him. It wasn't canceled because the storyline was bad or because Lily Depp was bad or because the content was hard to swallow sometimes even though real. It was cancelled because the Weekend stunk. Sorry, stick to singing.

      I’ve seen other people say this too and it def could be the case. I think Abel has a need to feel like the center of attention, I glime that from his music.
      Joss deserved wayyy more development for her storyline, but I do think they would have explored that with another season. They just won’t have the opportunity to do it now.

    i don't think the show even had a plot, they just went along with anything and everything and the acting was shit. it could have been good if it was written well and touched on deeper topics. hell the chemistry between the two main character was so bad too.
    but if you liked it, then you liked it. just know i am questioning your taste.

      Haha that’s fair. But also to be fair, I said I like bad movies so it’s not really a question of my taste. I like good stuff and trash stuff, and I openly admit that. The show was bad but I don’t think it was that bad.
      I see the vision of what the plot could have been but I also go into an entire list of why I didn’t like it, later in the video and I discuss plot holes heavily, as well as character chemistry, specifically Izaak and Leia.

    My take on the show / each episode .
    I like the first 2 episode and the opening scene for the first episode was my favourite. I thought it was well done.
    Episode 3 was cringe because of the weekend
    Episode 4 was cringe because of weekend BUT Destiney save the episode
    Episode 5 felt like a cartoon/cringe/the ending was confusing.
    I wish they didn’t cancel the show but I can see why. I really want to see the original version of the idols the one Amy did.

      @naturalnaela  6 месяцев назад +1

      I would LOVE to see what the original was supposed to be but yeah HBO isn’t picking it back up 🤣
      I thought the opening scene was well done too, it was a great into for the chaos. Destiny was great at what I think her role was supposed to be lol, but great actress, regardless.
      Episode 5 felt very rushed. I heard there were supposed to be 6 but idk if that’s true or not.

    (Hey hey! Its me with my little essays again! and its a long one!)
    I hated this show with every fiber of my being. Sam Levinson seems obsessed with torture 🌽 and thinks he's smarter than his audience. HOWEVER, I think it exposes a very real reality that some of us non-famous folk tend to pretend isn't real. The lies, corruption, etc. There are a lot of Jocelyns in the industry and there are twice as many Tedros' (and even in the non-famous world that people refuse to acknowledge).
    I personally am interested the theory that half of this entire series is all some sick twisted mental fan fiction in Tedros' head gone wrong, especially with how some characters are dressed so normally(Leia) as opposed to others a lot of the time (Joss). Like when he claims "I ain't gay" but its very obvious he derived SOME type of pleasure from torturing Isaac and Xander with those shock collars (even if it isn't shmexual pleasure, it felt like he's trying to over-compensate.). The way Xander sets up Rob is so confusing because what did Rob have to do with Xander's own career other than being Joss's ex. And if Joss was lying about her mom abusing her, whose to say Xander isn't a liar too? (The look on Leia's face when she told Xander the news was like she KNEW something wasn't right)
    My next point. Dyanne (the Asian girl, who is actually Jennie from BlackPink. Yes I'm a stan, sue me) I lowkey think Tedros didn't think she was dumb enough to corrupt like how he managed to con everyone else (except Leia). Or he thought Joss would be easier to corrupt than her only to be shell-shocked that Joss would pull an Uno reverse. That being said, the fact that they made Jocelyn out to be a liar who was "Secretly pulling the strings" pissed me off. It was like Sam Levinson wanted to say "See? Women can be manipulative liars too, and this clinical psychopath (Tedros) is a victim!"
    ol)

      Hey Ara! 👋🏾 How have you been the last two weeks? I was actually just thinking about your choices game the other day 🤣
      You are not the only one who hated this show, I’m def in the minority 💀 like y’all GRILLED it, Abel will never act again. You might be right about Sam, but if add Abel to that. Which like hey, that’s your business lol.
      theory that half of this entire series is all some sick twisted mental fan fiction in Tedros' head
      Ok wait… not this is interesting. I think that would have been a unique twist on all of this. If it ended up being some type of fantasy about Joss (and actual pop star) but they had never met and it was just in his head. 😮😮😮 Call up Abel and tell him to get you in the writers room and let’s do this thing right😭
      I don’t even know if it’s so much seggsual pleasure verses he just like being in control of people. He controls everyone in his life and if he can’t, he gaslights them and turns people against them like he did to Leia.
      I think Rob just ended up being collateral damage. Joss was Xander’s target and he just wanted to go after her. Dianne being in BlackPink explains why she dances so well 🤣 I’ve never been into K Pop, but I just discovered Fujii Kaze and I’m loving his music rn.
      Them trying to make Tedros the victim will never make sense to me…especially without explanation. They expected that to be a mic drop moment but it really wasn’t. HBO needs to release the alternate ending bc this was not it 🤣

      @@naturalnaela I personally hated the show because of Sam Levinson. I feel like if it was made by LITERALLY ANYONE ELSE, I would look at it from a different glance. (Also I'm great thanks for asking! Hope you're alright too!)
      Also you have the gears spinning in my head (because it's the writer in me lol)
      My theory usually comes from those red-pill guys who are unfortunate in the face (Like Abel's unfortunate ponytail.) Like what if he was some shitty assistant and he was fantasizing about being his boss (the REAL Tedros). It could make sense why he just completely gave into Joss at the end because there's no way he would have taken that sitting down (because we've seen the implications of what he's capable of). Maybe "The Idol" is the real Tedros and this random dude wishing he was as big as he portrayed himself in the show. Joss was just The Idol he wish he had and "Tedros' is who this irrelevant assistant wishes he was. Especially when the maids say "The complex he has as if everyone's talking about him". Maybe the REAL Tedros isn't any of those things that the Tedros we saw was.
      Had I wrote this script, the show would end with Joss calling Tedros' name (and the scene cuts back to real life with no filters or scantily clad people) and we see this super handsome man (someone arguably more handsome than Abel Tedros, like maybe ROB!?) walking past "Fantasy (Abel) Tedros" to the Joss while we hear someone scream for coffee or something and boom... Its revealed Abel Tedros is the weirdo assistant whose was dissociating the whole series and it ends where it started at the beginning with Joss ( who happy with a Rob (the real Tedros), Xander being cool and them healing their familial relationship, and not the Joss in his fantasy doing a regular photoshoot). (Also that beautiful black woman whose name I forgot who threatened to hunt him down like a dog might be a real interaction that bled into real life)
      I wrote that in 5 minutes, maybe I SHOULD be in someone's writing room lol. If you ever have a short series, I'll write for free lol. Lol okay I'll stop being annoying now.

      Ok so it’s Sam Levinson, for you. I’m curious then…What do you think of Euphoria? I personally could not stand it, it just pissed me off, especially season 1. Beautiful show but it just made me angry every episode. 😂
      _*Listen, I really want to know why they gave that man a rattail, I guess it did make him creepier but random af, in 2023.
      “What if he was some shitty assistant and he was fantasizing about being his boss (the REAL Tedros)”*_
      ARA!!! I don’t think you understand how much I love this. Or even if he IS Tedros but he’s one of Joss’s assistants and he has inflated his role in her success and she like doesn’t even know his name.😭 This entire thing being a fever dream would make it so much better.
      *_“Had I wrote this script, the show would end with Joss calling Tedros' name (and the scene cuts back to real life with no filters or scantily clad people)”_* - I’m going to need you to write the script. This is crazy. You just wrote a masterpiece.
