Isn’t it his show and he has a vision on how he wants this story to be portrayed? If he wants to demonstrate how in a sense his career/life could have played out and use a female lead what’s wrong with that. What if the ex director wasn’t doing a well enough job portraying the story. The lead role is female but the story is from a males point of view and personal experience.
i think the main focus was emphasizing the general dark side of the industry rather than focusing particularly on the womens experience in the industry. but the direction they seem to be moving in they should have considered not telling the story in a male lense

As a huge fan of The Weeknd, this is rough… I’m really hoping there’s going to be some big twist at the end that will redeem the story and make us all go “oh so that’s why it felt so disturbing at the beginning” but I’m highly doubtful.

I’m surprised that most of the interviews do not talk about how the character was grieving throughout the show. They also did not mention anything about the brush and what it meant in the end when he said that the brush looked brand new. The interviewers seem to only focus on the fact that she was a popstar and that’s about it.

People are always trying to figure out how to make money off you and take whatever they can off you. Especially young artists.
