That was crazy. Glad you made it through that night of chaos unscathed lol. I was a little surprised that you lined up with the Samurai after seeing it's scetch instability.
Crazy seeing how unstable some of the other fast cars seem compared to the Plaid, whatever Tesla is doing with the suspension it seems to be doing a good job!
@@ericwanyonyi2445 That and modern drive controls. I only watched the two runs vs the Turbo Truck... worlds apart - and kinda scary to think anyone would WANT to race in a cobbled together overpowered bucket like that truck. Built for speed and in its sole purpose a failure, even outright dangerous to use.
What a night! That Turbo truck and Samurai are really unique builds. The 4 wheel hop was impressive! Not sure I've ever seen so many track infractions in one night. That was wild. And that wreck... something else. Nice wins Andrew 🏆
It’s a fine line… Lue broadcasts a live stream, so he has no way to “edit” if he guesses wrong and someone is hurt or something shocking happens. But I have the benefit of knowing the final outcome before I post my edit (everyone okay, no one hurt, both cars totaled)
@@TeslaPlaidChannel I meant the comment in a comedic way. I've only ever seen you be respectful, so I'd hate to imply you weren't. I just found it ironic that as soon as LueTubeTV was shying away from it, you cut to a full 10x zoom. Made me chuckle :)
@@zealeigh 👍Gotcha. Kind of like the end of our last video when I said: “Too bad the dragstrip got shutdown because someone spilled antifreeze all over the track, but we aren’t gonna name any names… It’s that truck right THERE ->” 😃
no surprise Audi and BMW cant handle a straight line. Cannot wait for my Plaid! Love the videos and your absolute professionalism on the track, happy holidays.
Not fair to pick on the BMW here. It was clear the Audi came over into the BMW lane and hit him into the wall then he ended up back in the Audi's side. Gonna be a sad day for both of them if they didn't have track insurance because their regular insurance isn't gonna cover that.
Pretty exciting runs! But not for the reasons that you would want. The track prep seemed a bit off, but you did fine considering. There were some scary customers out there, in a wild west night.
I really like seeing some of these cars run alone 1st. They appear very fast and in their own right are, but without a reference. Then see them run against you, it really puts into perspective how fast the Plaid is.
👍 Thanks! We’ve been doing this more often lately because it serves multiple purposes. It lets us see if the other cars are competitive or not worth a run together. It gives footage for the video in case we race together later on. But most importantly, it lets us determine if they are “squirrelly”, or if it’s safe to go down the track next to them 😃
We dropped about 160 pounds and 0.15 seconds to run as fast as 9.15@152MPH, but our car needs to remain NHRA legal, so we’ve kept all the required safety bits (all airbags, including the ones in both front seats, all mirrors, seatbelts, brakes, etc). But for someone who is willing to take everything out, including all screens, dashboard, center console, all 20 speakers, door panels, all airbags, etc, theirs has run 8.77@157MPH
👍 An excellent piece of engineering, but unfortunately overpriced. Not worth $100k more than the Plaid, even if the interior is nicer. I’d rather have a Plaid and a Model S Long Range (or C8!) for the same money.
Hi, Andrew! Was wondering if I had missed something of yours until you wished Tom a good Thanksgiving! I am wondering what the scuttlebutt is on the ground there about the possible closure of Bradenton. Any thoughts? Thanks, Bill
Indeed, we were gone out of state for 3 weeks starting Thanksgiving Day, so this was our last race night and we weren’t able to edit it until this past week. I watched the planning commission meetings and sent them a letter as well. Although they may eventually develop the adjacent land with 4500 homes, the buyers are all supposedly going to have to sign something that acknowledges the noise and accepts it. But we all know how that goes. Eventually they all band together and exert pressure to shut it down. Never mind who was there first. Never mind what they signed. It’s just wrong, but this pattern continually repeats itself. But maybe if it drags out and takes long enough, EV racing will be quiet enough and they can pivot? Who knows? 🤔
Whenever I see videos like this, I wonder how my 2022 model 3 long range would stand against the same cars as the model s. I don't have the boost upgrade so it will be stock.
Pick up a helmet and give it a shot! We've taken every one of our Teslas (all 6 of them) to the track over these last few years. Slowest was our 2016 S75, which still ran a mid 13-sec in the 1/4 mile. If you have hesitations, consider starting with an 1/8th mile track like the one in this video, and then ask to run SOLO (no one in the next lane). They will almost always honor it (unless very very busy)
I was waiting to see what that El Camino would do but unfortunately he jumped off the line too late against the Plaid. I'd like to see a rematch on that one to give the El Camino another or better response time off the line. Yeah, WOW. That crash at the end seemed to be the Audi SUV fault unless the BMW was in the way and shouldn't have been at that spot at the end. Just hoping they can get all fixed up and back out there soon.
Wish the Audi and BMW drivers good luck getting their insurance companies to cover the damage to their cars. Auto insurance policies exclude any damage that occurs while engaging in any type of racing. Most people never look into this before taking their street cars to the track.
👍 True, unfortunately. We know this first hand after we were hit at this same dragstrip earlier this year by a nitrous drag truck: ruclips.net/video/IKMPYbzr0p8/видео.html

Fast Tesla, consistent also 👌

*Everytime I see a truck completely stall out it looks like a dinosaur falling to its knees* 😮⚡️🚗

Heavy battery weight at the low level helps with stability

Wow, what a crazy night at the track! Great races!
I like the pickup truck, shame it can't go straight.
👍 It’s a sweet build for sure! Very easy on the eyes, not to mention those 5:32 door panels! 😳
Your electron car whipped every combustion car that lined up with you. Very nice.

Great races again! I once I get my new wheels I will be back out! glad this crash wasn't associated with the plaid! scary!!

The lack of noisy drama and skittish steering makes the almost stock tesla a winner
That vintage twin turbo truck is jumping everywhere... Is it too light for that powerful engine? The dude should change to Chevrolet AK body

Looked like the Audi didn’t check his blind spot when he went for the “exit” which is only on the right hand side

To accidents at the track are they covered by insurance
Motorsports are excluded from standard auto policies.
But you can get drag racing insurance for about $30,000.00/year.
I think the only thing that can beat a Tesla in a drag race is a top fuel dragster. Jesus those things are wiping the floor with everything
That truck is just a big air brake...good to 100...then air resistance hits it.
TESLA MODEL 3 💪
The truck driver missed 2nd gear. Thats all
Good thing we raced twice 👍
