I’ve never played it until three days ago. I’ve always wanted to my whole life. I now know this feeling you speak of, and I haven’t even gone that far with the game yet. This is one of the greatest games ever made. As a child I had these dreams of a dragon that would torment me, and one day I finally slayed it. It’s like my dragonslayer dreams have come to life and every fight with a dragon gives me CHILLS
What I would give to play this game for the first time again. It was introduced to me by my friend 8 years ago, and oh boy i'm still playing it up until this day. Anyone still playing at 2024?????
Hahaha...my friend just introduced this to me today, I love the trailer so I can't wait to play it for the first time,, Your comment has convinced me to appreciate such a privilege!
Travis Rodgers The controls are kind of weird if you’ve never played a bethesda game. But you’ll get used to it pretty quickly. Amazing game even after all these years definitely recommend trying out. Try your first play through without mods if you want to get it though.
Damn. And to think I first started playing this game since I was 7 in 2013. And now I'll be turning 18 in a couple weeks, and I still play Skyrim. Almost all of my life has been with this game. I dont care what anyone says, The Elder Scrolls will always have a place in my heart. And I will always be playing.
And here I am, with only 36h in the legacy Skyrim Version on Steam - only completed the main questline and some side-quests and 60h in the special edition with probably most of it just testing mods.. And I never really could get back to it because of the thought of how it could look with enough mods, but never had the strenght to install of them in a correct and working way. (And maybe the side fact I get way to quick in an aroused state because I am a simple man and so I only would think of adding specific mods to the game after few hours playing.. I am my own hell for not being able to have more fun in the game. Amen)
Yeah. Its like going home for me. Been playing off and on since 2012. Its still the game with the most immersion for me. Although I do have other games which are fantastic at that also.

We already call it a milestone of gaming history, how will we look at it in another decade, when gaming has become even more popular and advanced? Will Skyrim have reached the same popcultural importance as The Lord of the Rings or The Godfather etc? Maybe even more important?
I got this game for Christmas in 2012 after my uncle had played it and thought I would like it, I was 12 years old. Through middle school it was my favorite game and it was so fun to explore and forge my own path as the Dragonborn. In high school throughout all of the hard times and the ‘growing up’ Skyrim was my safe space that I could escape to when I came home at night. I went off to college to study to become a minister and the small amount of free time I got at night was used to play Skyrim to ease the stress and remember all the good times I had playing it as a naive, hopeful preteen. Today, Saturday June 29, 2024 at almost 24 years old I decided to rewatch some game trailers of some of my favorite games from those years after I ate my breakfast. I’ve served in ministry for almost 5 years now, I get married in November, and I work full time at a Christian college in admissions. I’ve gotten to the point where I really love what I do and I who im with but sometimes I do miss those days when I was a preteen coming home from middle school to ride bicycles with my friends and then come inside and play Skyrim after it got dark. I watched this trailer this morning and it was the only one that made me emotional. I started watching this trailer and about 1/3 of the way through I began to cry. Skyrim has meant so much to me over the years. I don’t play many video games anymore but I occasionally jump back into Skyrim just to enjoy the game that has shaped me so much. I could never be more thankful for a game studio than I am for Bethesda for making a game that has done so much for me, especially in the times of my life that I was upset, depressed, or destroyed. Thank you Todd and Bethesda, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has meant more to me than you folks will ever realize.
I remember when I married Lydia, we bought a home in Whiterun with our adopted daughter Lucia, we were so happy together until that one fateful day. As the war against the dragons raged on, I have made an infamous name amongst the dragons, so they sent one of their elders after me. We were wandering around the outside of Solitude when we came across this abused lad named Blaise, so I adopted him so that we could have a happy family together, until a dark shadow loomed from the sky, and I didn't notice it until it landed on the roof of a farmhouse. I put my son on the horse and ordered it to return home and keep him safe, and that's when the fire started. In an instant, the ground around me became an inferno of screams and blood as the dragon above rained its hellfire around. Some farm hands were caught in the blaze, but most of the inhabitants retrated to their homes. Lydia decided to cover me as I tend to my burn wounds and the dragon casted fire breath amongst the barn I was in. The animals let loose, some were on fire and desperate to make it out alive. With the drink of an in isibility potion, I sprung out wielding my bow and fired upon the infernal creature, but the arrows barely pierced through the thick hide the elder dragon possessed. It cast ice breath to incapacitate me, and i was taken aback until a volley of arrows flew overhead. It was the guards of solitude that came to assist, but as the dragon rose, it casted a meteor shower. Animals and men were dead all around me, a mother duck was trying to protect the young it had left, the pigs were on fire and the horses ran loose. I grabbed Lydia and we booked it towards the main passage towards the town gate, but as I ran, the dragon trained its sights on me and began to ensue an onslaught of fire balls on top of its meteor shower. Many guards were incinerated as we hunkered down, and I peered outside just to see a man be picked up and dropped by the dragon. It was doing a strafing run on the guards and it was on the process of a turn, but I grabbed my musket and took fire against the beast. The bullet struck but it didn't kill it. Enraged, the beast attempted to snatch me out of the ground, but Lydia stood in front of me so that I don't get killed. I saw her get lifted up as the dragon flew far away with her, and there was nothing I could do about it but try to shoot him down. I lost him in the clouds for a moment until I saw a giant silhouette come out of the storm for one last barrage, but I aimed my musket and shot it out of the sky. The dragon faltered as it was losing consciousness, and I watched it fall to my feet in front of me. The battle was won, but that was the last I saw of Lydia. I searched the nearby swamps to see if I could find her, but I haven't found a single trace. I had hope until one day I received a letter of inheritance, I didn't even need to open it to know it was Lydia's notice of death. We were supposed to go on many more adventures together, but our time was cut short. I've slain Alduin, and I've taken care of our two children as a single father. I'm sure they miss their mother as well as I have, for the house has been more lonely without her presence. As I retire, I built a private manor in Hjaalmarch for me and my children. My new travelling companion is Jordis the Sword Maiden and the housecarl and bard attend to my children during my absences. I miss her banter and witty remarks. I'm sure she would've loved the life I gave for Lucia and Blaise. I never plan to remarry and I have kept the wedding ring long after she passed. We miss you, Lydia. -Legate Xire of the imperials, and his two children
@@nobodyxdel2390 I thank you for taking the time out of your day to tell us the story of your loving family and the unfortunate tragedy that struck. It is a truly touching tale. When passing The Shrines of Arkay during my many travels, I will make sure to pray to the God of the Cycle of Birth and Death for the good health and prosperity of you and your family, as well as for your beloved Lydia's soul to rest peacefully in the afterlife.
@@yourfather3130 I remember after the battle, I shouted my loudest shout after seeing the carnage. It wasn't a shout of harm, nor a shout of health, no. It was a shout of apology. You know how I said that I've earned infamy from the dragons? I have this mod where the more dragons you slay, the deadlier they send after you. I was top of their priority, but there was a shout that could have made the attack less brutal. And that shout was apology. After the battle, I yelled apology to Sovangarde and to the dragons. I used the dragon soul of the elder dragon to apologize, for the dragon have taken the life of Lydia, and my happiness with it. After that, I swore vengance on the dragon, for all that hate spiraled into a cacophony of prejudice and hatred for anything dragon. My views were changed when I met Paanthrunax. When he thought me shouts, not only did I learn power, but I slowly learned to forgive myself. Through him I learned that not every dragon was meant to be killed, and that like the winds at the throat of the world, all my targeted hatred flew away. I apologize once more not to the dragons, but to me. I would have joined the Blades, but Paanthrunax was there for me more than they were.
"In their tongue, he is Dovahkiin, Dragonborn" and the following "Fus Ro Dah" and music never fails to send chills down my spine. As much as this game gets memed on, you can't deny how iconic it is. There's a reason people are still playing it today
Getting memed is the privilege only the most popular cultural works of the time can enjoy. However "buggy" it may be, people enjoy playing it, and that's all that matters in the end.

Ansel Ravenhart In game it's the first Dragon shout you learn and at max upgrade, it supposed to be a knockback/Stun ability. Using it on a flying dragon knocks it out of the sky. It's not a killing ability, like some of the other shouts learned later on.
The worst part about Skyrim is that there will never be another game like it , it's a masterpiece even in its vanilla form and I personally think no other game could ever replace the joy and emotion this game brought to so many players. One can debate wether or not Skyrim is the best game ever created. Certainly tastes differ and there are other games that have achieved greatness in their own way, such as Breath of the Wild, GTA5, etc. One cannot debate the trailer though, the Skyrim Trailer is still by far the best videogame trailer ever created. No other trailer even comes close.
MyAnalyser As much as I love those other games, none of them ever gave me the feeling of awe that I felt playing Skyrim for the first time. That’s how I know Skyrim is the greatest game ever made.
@@SpookyMarine I value your opinion but what feeling of awe you get is not a valid measurement for what the best game actually is, because you may feel that awe for Skyrim, I may have it for Zelda and your neighbour has it for Red Dead Redemption 2. Just because the next person tells me he has such an amazing feeling for awe for Fifa2020 doesn't suddenly make that the best game either. It's a great game, understand though that there are also many people who dislike Skyrim. For one, many people dislike the open ended gameplay because they prefer a more tightly focused story and gameplay experience, something like Mass effect 1 or 2 for example. Myself I do think Skyrim is one of the best games ever, but I feel Breath of the Wild went a step further in genious world design and amazing puzzles (of which there aren't many in Skyrim) and then I love some other games for other reasons.
Fr fr. This game's influence still pervade till this very days in media and new games. I had no idea at the time that the game will become immortal. What a legendary piece.

What if its not to serve as an icon or an early game armor. What if you need to finish the game 100% with only base iron. for the dragonborn is almighty is he not?
I did this. Wanted to be trailer accurate. Aesthetically, it was not too pleasing eventually. By the time I was to battle Alduin, i was using the Ancient Falmer set.
You should have acted, they're already here. The Elder Scrolls told of their return. Their defeat, was merely delay. To the time after Oblivion opened. When the sons of Skyrim would spill their own blood. But no one wanted to believe - believe they even existed. And when the truth finally dawns, it dawns in fire. But, there's one they fear. In their tongue he's Dovakhin - Dragonborn! Simply the best trailer of all time, goosebumps on every viewing.
I practiced the dragontongue and the voice of the narrator for years, and can still do both. My wife (shes real, I swear) laughs her ass off every time I start talking about the dragonborn at weird and sometimes inappropriate moments.

Well said 🥲
The next Elder Scrolls will be upon us sooner than later. Ready to come out of retirement & adventure again?
That “Fus Ro Dah” at 1:08 is what made you emotional I bet
2011: Lydia is my walking chest
2020: I've equipped Lydia better than I've equipped myself
shes our beloved strong valkirya
That's so fucking true 😂
We miss you, Lydia.

and his two children

I did this. Wanted to be trailer accurate. Aesthetically, it was not too pleasing eventually. By the time I was to battle Alduin, i was using the Ancient Falmer set.
I love how they show ACTUAL gameplay and graphics.
For being such an old game now the graphics r amazing

There is a bit of trailer fluff that isn't actual gameplay, but for the most part I'm pretty sure this is all in engine.
You forgot "*FUS RO DAH!*"
I practiced the dragontongue and the voice of the narrator for years, and can still do both. My wife (shes real, I swear) laughs her ass off every time I start talking about the dragonborn at weird and sometimes inappropriate moments.

No there have definitely been better trailers lmao
To this day a few times a year I come back to this masterpiece, mods have kept it alive all these years. This game will live forever.
Most likely! This game held out for so many years and I still play it. Its a very well done game and the effort put into it is insane!
Also lets not forget by the fact that the graphics arent bad at all. They look amazing and the physics are very impressive. A 9 out of 10.
I had to re-watch this to restore my faith in Bethesda after the 76 disaster.

Dragonborn in Trailer: *faces the dragon head on*
Me in game: *runs for the nearest village so the villagers can weaken it for me*
Same true af
the npcs' shooting accuracy when it comes to dragons is... better than the dragonborn himself, like they knew the dragon is going to fly downward so they shoot their arrows lower then the dragon got hit :
Then you get Dragonrend and think, a dragon is that all? Easily dispatched.
*Laughs in berserker rage*
Until you’re in river wood and all the guards die but the dragon still has full health
