I think it's also because parents don't teach them that everyone is different. Look different and act different. Not that they want them to be racist, but they just don't teach them or tell them that everyone in the world is different
Actually being race conscious is a natural instinct, and it can even serve as a survival instinct. We are drawn to those who are like us. No matter how much you want to make up fairy tales about there being "only one race".

"Parents raise kids to be racist" is a reductionist way of looking at it. There is no escaping the fact that, although people aren't necessarily born racist, we do have inherent instincts to trust in-group individuals more than out-group individuals. Racism is an extension of that instinct. Make no mistake, however - if something is natural, it has no bearing on whether it's actually right.
It would've been an even deeper burn if the girl would have said "She has a pretty face and I have a pretty face, unlike something you see in the mirror"
She’s raised so many frequencies with this story and the reporter portrayed it so eloquently. She is a “healer” and she knows her purpose at a very young age❤ young, but an old soul.
You're 100% correct Dena. I always say, "My father taught me love and my mother taught me hate". Seems interesting that usually it's the opposite, but not in my childhood household. Not until I went to college did I realize just how wrong and ignorant my own mother was. I had to reprogram myself to love all people. It's hard but it can be done if you want to.
I don't know why people think it's OK to question other people's kids. That cashier should have just rang the doll up and let that little girl enjoy her new doll. The little girl had the perfect response.

It had nothing to do with looking like the doll but just being a different color. The racist was trying to be the nice person she thinks she is by expressing her racism in a not so blunt manner. If I was that girl's mom, I would of put the cashier in her place.
I kind of get it. As a child, I would prefer brunette dolls because I was brunette. I made up stories with myself as the main character, and for that I needed my doll to look like me. I think people are making the cashier out to be something they're not. If they meant it in a racist way, sure, that's terrible, but the cashier said 'we have lots of dolls who look like you, are you sure this is the one you want?'. She didn't entertain jokes where someone's feelings were the punchline and I mean she would tell you quick, fast and in a hurry that it was unacceptable. I was like 9 or 10 the first time I even heard the N word (and I live in the south) from a kid in my neighborhood. I came home and asked her what it meant and she very quickly told me it was a word people used when they wanted the world to know they were ignorant. Being young, I believed her and seriously thought that was the definition until she came into my room later that night and told me where it came from and that saying that word was hurtful to black people's feelings just the same as if someone called me ugly or stupid, and she let me know that to say it was telling the world of your ignorance. She grabbed a coloring book off my shelf and gave it to me then handed me one white crayon and told me to color her a picture. I told her I needed more colors and she said no that I had to use just white and I got a little upset and started whining about needing more colors. She asked me why and I told her that the picture wouldn't be pretty with just one color and then she told me never to forget that. That the world wouldn't be pretty with just one color either and that's why people are all different colors, that if God had used just the white crayon the world wouldn't be pretty. It wasn't nearly as profound to me then as it became as I got older but I will never stop being grateful for being allowed to grow up without having to carry the burden of hating anyone for being different.

Kids see color...definitely. When I was a little kid playing on the playground and I saw someone with very differently coloured skin from me for the first time, I definitely notice. You’d have to be blind not to notice. The difference is that I didn’t think anything bad about it. In fact, I thought it was really pretty and I was jealous. The girl was black, and at the time, I wanted to be a panther. Like, the cat. The thing isn’t that kids don’t see color - it’s that they just don’t care, because the color of a persons skin is like...probably the least important aspect of what makes them who they are as a person, and kids aren’t as illogical as adults. They don’t see a different skin color and think - oh, wow, that person must have X,Y,Z personality. No. That doesn’t make any sense. That’s why this little girl cares mostly that her doll has the same life-goal as she does, and is a pretty girl like she is. That’s what is important to her. The rest of it doesn’t matter.

It's just a doll why does the cashier care if it looks like her or not. People like her is the reason why we can't get past racism because they keep clinging onto it.
The cashier acts like she's the one paying for the doll
I don’t know if this is a controversial opinion, but I think if you’re a cashier you should not EVER and I mean EVER comment on what people are buying in a negative way. It’s just weird and passive aggressive. Something happened to me once where they were sort of making fun of what I was buying it made me feel like shit, like I don’t want to have my purchases questioned by some random person. Keep it to yourself! Though that’s just my opinion. Have a nice day or night.
@@SirrSerpent absolutely
To be honest, i feel like if we had blue or green or pink dolls (like completely as a skin tone) nobody would care as its a ‘toy’ so why do people think its ok to ridicule and slander other skin tones (that are realistic)on a doll that a child doesn’t even mind about. "Parents raise kids to be racist" is a reductionist way of looking at it. Most children don’t even think about things like this. When I was a kid race never even crossed my mind, but now I know all the hatred, stereotypes, and prejudices that exist.
I know right, a person could be a blue and a young kid wouldn't think twice about it. They're all so sweet and innocent and adults needs to see the world through their eyes
i know adults need to stop ruining crap.
Right me either. I had dolls of all colors. Mostly picked them due to their outfit or occupation
I’d never even heard of racism until my dad explained it to me

this warmed my heart on level 100 because im a black girl 🥰🦋❤️
Oh, you’re Black*? AND a Girl*? Get ready for people to put you over them. I’m White and a Girl, but no. Just because I’m not dark means that I’m Racist* and “I’m apart of the people who bought slaves.”
Maybe if we didn’t talk about- and then there’s ASIANS! Asians are only apart of it because their from a different *race* not *color.*
You don’t see people committing Arson* in Asians* countries because their White*, right? NO!
So shut up about your Race. And I’m* sick of people shouting out “I AM A GIRL!” Every second.
AND DO NOT GET ME STARTED ON SEXUALITY*!
Black- A person of darker skin tone who usually has brown hair and brown eyes
Girl- A person with a uterus and breasts who has long hair and wears things like dresses to convey a feminine perspective
Arson- A act of slaughter in which buildings are burnt
Asians- People of a curtain race that usually come from Asian countries like China and South Korea. Mostly people who are white.
White- A person with lighter skin tone that usually has blonde hair and blue eyes
I’m- I Am.
I- A signal suggesting the person speaking
Sexually- a term for Girls and Boys
Racist- Against a certain group of Race
It warmed my heart how the little girl was so naturally kind hearted that she deflected hate with just love. It's something adults of any race struggle with. We see so much negativety that it just brings us to be negative back. We could all learn something from this sweet girl

@@ethan.2306 yes I am serious. You clearly don't understand racism. It is introduced for white people by white people to exploid people to benefit their economy. If white people were hated and had to go the same horrific history black people had to then we probably had an other discussion. But we don't. Absolutely! Warms my heart and gives me hope for the future. ❤
Yes they are! I'm so grateful to my parents because I grew up in a home without hate, too. My mom didn't tolerate any type of discrimination in our house whether it was about race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disabilities - AT ALL!
@@sunnidavis195 your Mum sounds like a wonderful lady, I have always said "we are all human beings, it doesn't matter about the colour of your skin, your sexual orientation, if you look different ect as long as you are kind, respectful etc then I will be the same in return" 🤷♀️. @MapleMeii_ 89% may be a lot but that’s not how you think it works, 1% out of 7 billion is 70 million, so 11% is definitely a lot compared to some bad apples in this world
@MapleMeii_ yeah i get what you mean
She’s gonna be a great Doctor, God bless that little girl, kids don’t see color , grown ups do, sad to say
But not ...ALL adults!! please remember that there is a very VOCAL MINORITY that is SCREWING IT UP for the SILENT MAJORITY. while I may be white I assure you I am Color blind I have a love for all ...and there are many, MANY! like me... I'm hopeful you are one.
God bless all who allow the love of God to be shared and shed abroad upon hearts that hunger for Truth.

@Jadi Alkhulaifr Ms. that is why it is so important to work on a minority child's self-esteem in the home. When this is consistently done, the child is better prepared to face racial adversity outside the home.
@@AK-jt7kh The first time???? Where do you live? Of course, we all see color, that is not what that phrase means. Some of us don't care and some of us don't notice. If you are exposed to different races and ethnicities regularly at one two and three years of age, racial differences are nothing remarkable. I was raised on Air Force Bases where diversity is the norm. The only time understood there were differences was when I visited my parents' homogenous hometowns where everyone looked like me, but I felt different only when my dad retired and we moved to the South (U.S.). That is when I stopped being normal and became other.
@@1001nancymcmillan I don't think we need to be colourblind, we just need to celebrate variety and treat everyone as unique and valuable.

Linda’s Channel well come to think of it, even though “colorblind” society is not one we are striving for, since it erases the past of oppressed groups of people, children who have not yet been taught these histories could actually be called “colorblind” in a positive light, for not letting skin color get in the way of their opinions and choices!
