Dividends makes you Richer. I’ve been diligently working, saving and contributing towards early retirement and financial freedom, but since covid outbreak, the economy so far has caused my portfolio to underperform, do I keep contributing to my 401k or look at alternative sectors to meet my goals??

Agreed, having a good financial advisor is invaluable, my portfolio is well-matched
for every season of the market and has just yielded 120% from early last year. I and my
advisor are working on a 7 figure ballpark goal, tho this could take another year.

Highly informative video especially the last few points. We generally don't consider the abnormalities in market cycle in our overall returns, hence for a long term investor if a huge market crash occurs during let's say the final 5 years of investing, it going to put a significant dent on overall returns.Hence we need to financially plan 5-6 years ahead of retirement.

    I have one topic suggestion,
Ramesh Damani in his interviews has time and again said that if you invest Rs 10 lakh in business which grow at 18% ROI, you will be able to reach a Rs 100 crore in a span of 30 years, all you need is 10 doubles
It will be great if you can make a video on this topic and convey is it even practically doable!

    • @ETMONEY
      @ETMONEY  3 года назад +2

      Thanks for your kind words.
That's what we said in this video.
      10 lakhs * (1.26)^10 = 1 crore
      10 lakhs * (1.26)^20 = 10 crores
      10 lakhs * (1.26)^30 = 100 crore
I am not sure where 18% comes from. Per math, it should be 26% per annum

Hello Ahamed Sheriff. Per our experience, investing often grows on a person and there are behavioural and tactical parts to it other than just seeking a plan. Infact, it is recommended that you donot use some standard plan of action and have something that suits your goals and risk profile. Since you are very new to investing .. it is recommended that either you avail the services of a financial advisor for 1 or 2 years .. or dedicate yourself to learning about mutual funds, SIPs etc. Today a lot of people are choosing the DIY approach and also make small mistakes which acts as a learning experience and a base for better investing in the future. Our RUclips channel here is a great starting point in your investing journey and you can ETMoney app or etmoney.com for investing in mutual funds

Could you please make a video on how to finalize MF house to invest and when to stop and shift from non performing MF house.
I am not able to put it in exact words but like shares, if one share is not performing for certain period we may shift from it to other based on fundamental and technical analysis.
Is there a way to apply this strategy for MF investments as well.

Due to my lack of knowledge, I discontinued my monthly SIP (back in 2008) investment of ₹2,000 after five years (invested in the Aditya Birla fund) as I didn’t see significant growth in my total amount. Now, I regret that decision every day. My current goal is to accumulate ₹6 crore for my retirement. Could you please guide me on how to start this investment journey?

Just to let you know, most of the folks don't know much on Direct vs Regular in mutual funds. I had to specifically explain and still it was not bought into much because they do not get their consolidated portfolio at a single place. That was till I heard you say that you only deal with Direct.

Hello. When the mutual funds says they have made 15% returns, expense ratio is already deducted. This is the number AMCs, AMFI, ET Money publish. If expense ratio were allowed in the SIP calculator, then expenses will be double-counted. Did you have a different understanding on this?

I am totally agree with you that we can make money in long term. The long we stay in the market probability of negative returns reduced. But one thing I do not understand at the age of 60 what you will do by having 10 Cr in you bank account. You can not enjoy with that money because age does not permit you. You have to be choosy to enjoy. It would be better If I could have 10 Cr by the age of 50 at least I would have 10 years to enjoy.

Your videos are without a doubt, the most suitable for novice/beginner investors. You explain everything so succinctly. As someone who also started relatively late, i would advise people to have a SIP/Lumpsum in at least one Index fund and also to allocate a small portion of your portfolio in to cryptocurrencies. It would be irresponsible for a modern investor to ignore bitcoin etc - for the long term.

I think Lumpsum would work perfect when the markets are down or if you don't want to time the market then simply divide your lumpsum corpus into15 to 20 pieces and invest just like SIP. Remember to stretch this SIP for 2 years ,incase if the markets are at high valuations(just like you have lumpsum in july august 2021 where markets were at all time high) 2 years would be enough to give you a decent valuation at an average.

Pretty sure real estate can give you way higher returns than this over 25 years. Consider that a 5lakh 30x40 site in the city in the year 2000 is now selling for 2cr minimum. That's 40x the investment. And there are no fluctuations like in stock market where if anything goes wrong, your portfolio can be down by 10-20% in a bad year and if that happens to be the year you'd need the money then you're screwed.

    • @ETMONEY

That's because one measures lumpsum from x0 to y0 (x being the day of investment and y being the day of reaching target). The SIP schedule is different with x0, x1, x2, x3 ... while the output is measured at y0. This will become clearer in a video we are releasing this week on SIP v Lumpsum
