This is only the base of the trophy, and even the base has been long stripped of its frescoes and bas-relief, as well as the bronze appliqués. To have seen it fully adorned would have been a sight to behold, no matter when in time, or whom. Thanks for sharing.
I couldn’t agree more. The battlefield is more agricultural land with a small canal running through it but to think, the remnants of that war are all beneath it to this day - I hope one day you get to see it!
