Hey Chris! I think at this point you can consider making like a cozy little discord for the channel, maybe a nice little members' club or something for people who really appreciate the absolute quality content that you have been making for such a long time.
Thoroughly enjoyable video... While I strive for the soft landings also; I find slamming it down that last foot or so mitigates the moving ship issues. What can you do? "Fly the plane to the ground..." Anyway, I was also having a bit of fun this weekend trying out low level "dust off" flights. Come in hot and land as fast as possible, "load the wounded" and get out ASAP... Seeing how fast you can transition those props and keep everything else under control turns into a challenge. (Keep crashes turned on! lol )
I’ve tried all sorts to overcome the strange landing phenomenon on moving ships. When I slammed it it bounced back on me! 😅 These were as good as mine got!
@@cgaviator My guess is due to the custom code the aircraft is running to allow VTOL to work. I notice the same behavior in the IndiaFoxTecho F35. Hopefully with the next sim update adding helicopters and gliders both devs will have better code to work with and make the flight dynamics more real!
"Nature uhh...finds a way" moment when seeing that ramming action between different species of ship xD Oi there, its NNN don't you know :) those seamen be crazy :)
Oh no that’s real world. I should also of added that any auto stabilisation modes should be deselected immediately after landing and engaged immediately before T/O. Otherwise the helo stabilisation try’s to stop the ship moving. What is particularly interesting is if the helo heading hold is engaged and the ship turns! The helo try’s to maintain the heading and can skip across the deck. Don’t know anything about the Osprey but the Sea King was prone to this.
Nice job Chris, I was going to try this and just saw you posted this video. Thanks for the pointers! I am also going to try it at night. I have had lots of fun doing that with the H-145 and now my new favorite MSFS aircraft is the Osprey. Just finished a Melbourne to Sydney night flight to watch if MSFS had the lunar eclipse, unfortunately it did not, but loved the flight the flight 250-650 foot night operations. Great video!! ❤ 👍👍😎
Yeah it’s a Harpers Ferry class LSD, due to the C-RAM being on top of the bridge as opposed to in front of it like on Whidbey island class LSDs. Excellent modeling of the ship (except the lack of excessive rust all over everything), did my first MEU on the USS Ashland (LSD-48) and just looking at this one brought back memories.
@@cgaviator Hey Chris sorry to be a pain , have set my controls ok for the Osprey but whenever I slow to come in to land the joystick jolts forword and the Throttles move to full throttle with no input from me, is there a auto stall recovery switch I need to disable. 🤔 point to note I havnt done a cold n dark start yet wanted to get familiar with the flying controls first. Great timings. 😄 Will you give the dev feedback to improve the flight model? The textures needs some love, too - the black cockpit (metal) textures seems to be non-existent, i think it should be visible in 1440p despite the compression. The aliasing is bad at some edges and it has this optical distortions inside the cockpit (not sure if its the headtracking). Otherwise it looks like another great way of airsurfing! Looking forward to see how development progresses. THX 💙
Nicely done, fascinating departure from standard flight. Does this operate like a helicopter ie cyclic and collective with rudder/torque? or like a standard aircraft? How do you change the angle of the nacelles and add power at the same time if your hands are fully occupied? I assume the props/rotors are contra-rotating to balance and as you said elsewhere via a gearbox, but how do you go backwards, reverse thrust? without a major change or rapid descent? It has certainly got my "normal flight "theory mind boggling. Does it have two throttles so that you can increase power one side to go sideways or at angles in reverse. Totally got my mind working overtime, i thought "heck you would need many hands to do all that". and "brain overload" if i think conventionally. Incredible graphics too. It was a distinct pleasure to watch. Would be amazing if they brought out a program that covered the aircraft of the RAF memorial flight Spitfire, Hurricane, Lancaster, Mosquito, Westland Whirlwind, Gladiator type of idea for you to fly, or the Skyraider, Hunter, Gnat, Canberra, V bombers, Phantom. Lightning, Buccaneer, Tornado, then of course the future aircraft proposed for the follow on after the F-35 and Typhoon. So many great aircraft in RAF history. Thanks once again, loved it. Sad to see the recent loss of 6 great airmen in the Dallas tragedy. RIP gentlemen, a reminder of the courage of all aviators to even leave terra firma and keep us safe, a salute to all who fly for us, that we often take for granted.
Skyraider, spitfire and F35 are available. Phantom and Lancaster are in progress. There’s also a good P38! As for the Osprey, from my understanding it’s very flybywire. There’s only one ‘collective’ and I believe nacelles can be automated in the real aircraft. In this model I assigned the key for nacelle angle to a thumb switch on my throttle. It’s still a juggle but it’s a fight I’m winning mostly! And finally yes, such an awful accident.
