As a retired U.S. Marine Corps officer, I have always greatly respected the Gurkhas as a premier fighting force. Unparalleled light infantry. I salute you and your fellows. Semper fidelis.

Lucky you that SAS stood in for you. I served as 001 on every SAS&SBS operation for over 50 years and was never allowed to stand down! I conquered Everest and K2 in 1975/6 without aids like supplemental oxygen. I only wish I had met you, brave gurkha!
A group of us were selected and passed tests very young: we bonded like family to fight terrorist groups made up of family members who would die for each other, but we were as strong.
