Please, lets not give up! Not sure if it means anything, but SGU season 1 was recently made available on Amazon. I know because I tried to watch it on Amazon two months ago and it was only available for purchase.
At this point I won't believe it's happening until I see a TV trailer - been way too long a gap and I'm concerned it'll either have its budget per episode slashed or used as another tax write off for the company. If they can't do it then sell the rights to a company who actually can! Stop with these dangling carrots as its wearing pretty thin now - Apple+ or Netflix probably would of had a least a pilot episode filmed by now, don't keep the rights just because you can MGM/AMAZON - #fedup
Not like I wasn't already excited but after watching the new Fallout series and seeing the quality there, it really got me excited for a similarly quality new series. ARRRGGHHHH!!!!
I'm going to wait until SDCC to see if there's some kind of official announcement, THEN I'll either be hosting a Gate party to celebrate the good news, or punch wholes in my walls and wash my hands of the whole bloody thing. 🤘😎🖖🇨🇦
Amazon still does not know what to do with MGM. That it's involving Lionsgate is telling. Lionsgate is another free standing film studio in need of a cash injection. Amazon could well buy Lionsgate to make its films. Amazon's major shareholder Jeff Bezos really, really likes The Expanse. Amazon currently hold the rights. They were thought to be giving them up, but with Bezos behind the show, they're more likely to do that than Stargate. If Amazon were to pick up the B5 reboot, they'd have even less money available for Stargate. There's not enough advertising revenue to support the current Hollywood structure of legacy tv companies, cable and streaming services or all the film studios. Amazon is also trying to make back the $8bn spent to acquire MGM and its debt. It does not take a rocket scientist to work out that Amazon overpaid. This may help explain why Stargate Sg-1 and Stargate:Atlantis are behind paywalls on Amazon Prime. So is anything else that could be really popular. Amazon's TV show department is in the doghouse after the expensive flops of Rings of Power and Citadel. Their endorsement of Stargate might not be seen as the positive that it might once have been.
Well, when a television "series" can stoop to the depths of having only 10 episodes to equal a season (ST:SNW) when a *real* season has dropped from 39 (!) to 16 or so in just a decade or so, you know Hollyweird is in deep trouble. Filming in Canada doesn't seem to help them. Pretty soon they'll be shooting in somebody's kitchen!
The most surprising thing of this thing is they thought blackmailing stargate fans into supporting a service would work again. With Stargate Command they actually produced content. With MGM+ it's just a vague hint they may do something.
Another specific sign that the larger global economy is on very shaky ground and the people tasked with "spending money wisely" appear to strongly suspect that it will become markedly worse over the next handful of years. When you believe in that, you a very unlikely to green-light major spending projects, like a new car or an international vacation, or re-starting a moribund television franchise. Get ready, because this isn't just going to impact the SG world. If something is seen as not a "sure thing", it will either have the budget whacked or will be shelved. And in the movie/tv industry that can result in a bit of a self fulfilling prophesy: MGM sees rough economic waters ahead for its own business, which results in a much more cautious approach to spending on its own business, which results in less money going to those secondary businesses that exist to service companies like MGM, which results in budget cuts at said secondary businesses, which typically leads to layoffs at said businesses, which shrinks that secondary business environment as a whole, which makes it harder for companies like MGM to commit to the shows that they are passionate about, etc., much less shows (and other activities) they may be on the fence about anyway. Once the root sources of the money begin spending notably less of it, the impact is guaranteed, and it doesn't matter if these "root" companies are correct in their assessments. They are *acting* like they are correct, and that's what matters.
Making Stargate will make money provided you stay true to the recipe! If Amazon wants money they need to make it. Give me and people like me the ability to watch it and pay for more and you'll do well!
Beacon 23 was filmed a long time ago and at least in the US it is currently airing its 2nd season. Unless it gets renewed for a 3rd season, it has no effect on MGM's budget going forward.
I subscribe to MGM+ and I’ll tell you it’s not that great. They have a few decent shows….Beacon 23 was a Spectrum Originals show that Spectrum dumped when it got out of original series. And season 1 and 2 were filmed back to back. I’d be surprised if it got a season 3 especially with one of the turns in the show. We are still waiting on From S3. No one knows if The Winter King will get a second season. Chapelwaite (a great show btw) was cancelled after one season. War of the Worlds was a good take on the story, and there are a few more but there just isn’t a lot they offer. Plus they don’t show anything in 4K. The picture quality is pretty crappy generally. It would be nice for Amazon to fold it into Prime for greater exposure of its shows. Very few people I know subscribe to MGM+. I am not holding my breath, but it gets any better.
Yeh let's return to the days of season 1 SG1 complete with white saviour complex and all the baddies being black and brown. Go stick your thumb up your arse elswhere please.
I am done, mate. Thanks for all your hard work, but I couldn't care less about new Stargate. I love the series and as much as it pains me we might not get anything new. At least we got the shows that already know and love.
If they do a tv series it better be a 20 episode per season thing. If it's the usual streaming 10 episode season I'm going to be super annoyed. I'm not a fan of 7-10 episode seasons. They should be a minimum of 16 to a max of 24 per season. You really need the extra shows per season for character development in between the plot.
with deepfake face capture, voices and video around the corner. Whats stopping the community from making a well produced fan series (provided that they can somehow produce it in secret to avoid the good ole DMCA)
Doesn't surprise me. Amazon spent nearly a Billion dollars on the first two seasons of Rings of Power only for it to be a flop. The only thing supporting Amazon Prime Video is Amazon Prime itself. Most people that pay for Amazon Prime don't even know they have a streaming service tied to it. So it makes sense if Amazon is cutting budgets. Last years strikes hurt Hollywood and the entertainment industry as a hole far worse than they want to admit. If they fail to reach an agreement with IATSE and the teamsters by August 1st Hollywood will get shut down again. The IATSE leadership has all ready told the studios F**k You Pay Us there wont be any work extensions or wavers. If the studios want to survive they gotta get that deal done.

With LotR, Amazon should buy up all the old scripts of "Last of the Summer Wine" and turn it into a hobbit sitcom set in The Shire - relatively cheap and totally on point
Unfortunately, MGM was hijacked by Amazon whose leadership team bumbles along indecisively with their tv & film production projects. Amazon just doesn't realize the timeless iconic value of Stargate, just as Decca turned down the Beatles for a record contract. Hopefully, Amazon will sell the Stargate franchise to a company that is worthy of owing it.
and amazon said mgm was in a mess when they took over ?. it sounds like at least someone knew what they were doing and how to do it and now it seems like amazon is in total disarray and no one knows what to do.

Soooo does this mean your "sources" guy will not be joining you on Sci-Trek? My guess is no. I wish you better luck with other shows you cover. :) J.S. :)

A little about depression... Human does not generate thoughts. There are a lot of other living beings that send thoughts to him. And some of them want to do him bad, inspiring sadness, despondency and anger. While others want to do him well, inspiring with faith, hope and love. Training is needed to distinguish, to learn life (of eternity), to avoid pain (of not knowing).

it's an old franchise and quite frankly fans of that show are starting to die off. Amazon needs to get a move on and release something before everyone who remembers stargate has ascended to the next plane of existence.
So sounds like we are 6 to 10 years away from anything happening and looking at the age of SG cast it's not gonna happen unless it's a reboot. Beacon 23 is boring and really seems like it does not know what it is doing with itself. So no SG no B5.. sad times indeed.
We fight with dinosaurs. The world really needs enlightened creators and one common VOD platfrom, where people pay for specific titles no matter of origin. (like good old video rental stores). And I dont understand, why production companies do not allow "donations" from satisfied viewers ( I pirate a lot of not-mainstream or hard to find titles and I cant support them). Or crowdfunding for hard and challenging projects... I have no problem to send money for a good SG show. Today is a different time. But seems companies are sleeping :V BTW funny fact: Do you know what we (Czechia) never had in communist times? Cancelled TV shows xD
Why try to make an other platform? Put all on the same place and stop this non sens. Netflix dominate because they are so big, Hulu try to fuse with Disney... Stop trying to make new streaming and put everything at the same place and maybe thing gonna go well

To be fare Amazon & MGM has not made any formal announcement about Stargate so there has not really been any back & forth. But i wish they would. Finally
Why they have Bond.
At this point I have lost all hope that Stargate will return.
Timekeepers
They plan for the budget they have not the budget they might have in the future so this news doesn't affect anything for Stargate.
Not like I wasn't already excited but after watching the new Fallout series and seeing the quality there, it really got me excited for a similarly quality new series.
ARRRGGHHHH!!!!
I liked Fallout myself and no Woke crap.
Sad, but I am patient, we'll see.
People are loving the Fallout tv series and you do NOT want to compete in this field, oh well no money from me for you.
It is dam good
I'm going to wait until SDCC to see if there's some kind of official announcement, THEN I'll either be hosting a Gate party to celebrate the good news, or punch wholes in my walls and wash my hands of the whole bloody thing. 🤘😎🖖🇨🇦
At least there are 17 seasons of old stargate and 3 movies.
4 movies actually, thank god!
I really DO NOT want AMAZON in charge of Stargate .. I hope the FTC splits them up 🤞
Amazon still does not know what to do with MGM.
Anubis would never have allowed the Stargate franchise to go to the dogs.
And in the movie/tv industry that can result in a bit of a self fulfilling prophesy:
MGM sees rough economic waters ahead for its own business, which results in a much more cautious approach to spending on its own business, which results in less money going to those secondary businesses that exist to service companies like MGM, which results in budget cuts at said secondary businesses, which typically leads to layoffs at said businesses, which shrinks that secondary business environment as a whole, which makes it harder for companies like MGM to commit to the shows that they are passionate about, etc., much less shows (and other activities) they may be on the fence about anyway.
It will happen when the stars are aligned...😉
You do realize Amazon can order MGM to free some money up for Stargate by canceling other projects right. That has happened to other things before.
Beacon 23 was filmed a long time ago and at least in the US it is currently airing its 2nd season. Unless it gets renewed for a 3rd season, it has no effect on MGM's budget going forward.
I don't understand why this is problem for Stargate? For example, Foundation has budget 4,5 million dollars per episode.
I’m fed up as well. I’m canceling my Amazon prime. It has no value to me at all
I subscribe to MGM+ and I’ll tell you it’s not that great.
Let it rest in peace. No woke reboot.
Yeh let's return to the days of season 1 SG1 complete with white saviour complex and all the baddies being black and brown.
Go stick your thumb up your arse elswhere please.
Well you can always cheer yourself up by prematurely announcing the glorious return of the Orville.
Beacon 23 seasons 1 and 2 were filmed back to back. The 2nd season is pretty good. Season 1 got better as it went along.
It's a brilliant scifi show
us too mate
I am done, mate. Thanks for all your hard work, but I couldn't care less about new Stargate. I love the series and as much as it pains me we might not get anything new. At least we got the shows that already know and love.
The success of Fallout may influence this also.
"I give up" :XD
with deepfake face capture, voices and video around the corner. Whats stopping the community from making a well produced fan series (provided that they can somehow produce it in secret to avoid the good ole DMCA)
Yes, with tools like Sora too, it's possible. I have more faith in this project than in a new official series.
I give up on all of them until I see an episode, then it might be to late for some, but not all.
So all this is just a guess? And a completely unnecessary upload done just for views.
If the studios want to survive they gotta get that deal done.
..No they can just fire the unions. Glitch made a better show then AM2 with less money. Hasben hotel sucks compared to murder drones. She had 10 years to get money..WASTED. Look at Velma..uh-huh
Fire the unions and go AI and independent. Learn to code
There are none
It’s OK prime is just contract with the NHL starting next year. We all have weekly hockey games on prime so to me that outweigh Stargate
and amazon said mgm was in a mess when they took over ?.
it sounds like at least someone knew what they were doing and how to do it and now it seems like amazon is in total disarray and no one knows what to do.
they should have stuck w/Brad Wright & focused on a new/continuing series in the just place.. just my $0.02 worth..
Beacon 23 - seasons 1 and 2 were shot back to back so they just had to show it
This is depressing. They are clueless. I do wish Disney had bought them instead. We would have had movies, and a few series by now. #Wewantstargate
I'd rather have no Stargate at all & let it "rest in peace" as the best sci-fi tv made, than Disney doing a major woke version & ruining it forever!
I work in mental health in America, you, are a social worker, don't forget to breathe! Use your DBT skills and relax, we still have all the old stargate to watch. I just Introduced my wife to SGA and she loves it!!
Don't believe any reboot hype until it rolls on the screen . If you not able to move immediately sell the IP to someone that is
Hey, should we pass the hat around or something?! Like seriously, I'd donate, heck I'd setup a re-occurring payment! That and put a time limit on it, collect money and say that Amazon gets it if they make something, otherwise the money will be put into a fan made production!
I'd be down for that. Others would be too, as many said so in the comments. I think it'd be better if the Fandom could make it. At least the IP would be on point...
Drop It! You heard me! Drop that tissue box. We have work to do. Xfinity without notice, without refund, without seeing the consequences, has dropped the Heroes & Icons (H&I) channel. This means five hours of Classic Star Trek six days a week is GONE. We need a LETTER WRITING CAMPAIGN to bring back our Star Trek before Spectrum does the same. Let’s collect a list of names and addresses. Get to it NOW!
Bummer Jamie, this is bad news yet again for Gaters ... Am I surprised? Unfortunately not at all .. I know you're probably still mad at me for doubting your "sources" at MGM and all, although since we're playing on the same team, I can't for the life of me understand why, but, I hate to say I told you so about your guy at MGM, who's probably been playing you like a fiddle this whole time, but anybody that says 10,000,000 dollars was recently spent on something as ,massive as Stargate, and after extensive searches, and inquiries, there's not a hint of hearing that from anybody, or any place else is probably lying. ... Soooo does this mean your "sources" guy will not be joining you on Sci-Trek? My guess is no. I wish you better luck with other shows you cover. :) J.S. :)
Not spoken to him yet.
On the 10 million estimate that was towards the movie lots of people said was happening. As I’ve told you before Netflix spent 30 million in He-man and never filmed a second before scrapping the plan. The fact you don’t understand the process or know what work was actually done doesn’t mean they lied. Even your mate Malozzi said a while back Amazon were working on a movie. Do you think any work is free?
I’m cool if you don’t comment further.
@@scitrek Problem is, most aren't catching on with your situation Jay. Even I know you said that this MGM source will show up later on. Besides, you were the one who asked us what to do! I know that you would never lie about it...but it's time ppl understand what tf you're doing. Not to mention that you're doing this for us. Thank you for everything you do to keep us updated on all this, good news or bad. At least it's the truth! ❤🖖
@@Kerify I admire your faith, but how do you know it's the truth, when there's no evidence that it is .. His "source" may not be truthful.
@@josephsardone8971 He asked us all if we wanted it on or off the record, we all as a group chose off to get more info, with an interview for all to see later on.
2nd, they're not only just reaching out to him.
3rd, he's never deliberately lied to any of us before.
4th, another insider that **I** happen to know has been confirming Everything that he's been saying since the get.
5th, I know him well enough to know that he wouldn't trash his name just for clicks & views.
If these 5 aren't "good enough" for you, then I don't know what is, tbh. 😏
In the name of God. WTF. I CANT BELIEVE THIS,
My 2p worth - streamers are slashing budgets, MGM have a very expensive couple of years on the film front with the new bond and the pink panther reboot confirmed.
I don't think they will cut enough content to pay for Stargate
That's Amazon's budget not MGM+ those are two different budgets.
@@mightheal MGM budget of which MGM+ is a subsidiary (MGM are cutting MGM+ budget to pay for Bond & Panther) Bond's IP is a MGM product (with Broccoli as its producer, Bought when MGM bought UA back in '91) as is Panther - both will eclipse budget and return for MGM.
@@mojonojo3 MGM is no longer a independent company or a division they have no budget all movies are being paid for through Amazon directly. MGM+ is its own subsidiary that requires its own budget and is not involved with with movies unless they are making it for the service, which Bond is not one of them.
Maybe the plans submitted weren't woke enough 🙄
Here we go, AGAIN. pfffft (fart sound).
Sad😢😊
I'm starting to think that Goa'uld are good guys
Just who do you think is really running Amazon?
Amazon has totally bungled their purchase of MGM. No Stargate. No new James Bond movie. The last James Bond movie was junk. Totally embarrassing. Given Amazon's penchant for wasting money on junky propaganda (Rings of Power) I fear what they'd do with Stargate. I have no faith in any future Amazon projects.
Never give up never surrender oops wrong show yup ...we both are giving up!!! Stargate can't get off the ground ... Star Trek has all but been cancelled ... And Star Wars is in disarray??? So is this truly the end of SciFi as we use to know it? Maybe I will start streaming some old stuff to make myself feel better! Yup, I surrender! 😢
it's an old franchise and quite frankly fans of that show are starting to die off.
Amazon needs to get a move on and release something before everyone who remembers stargate has ascended to the next plane of existence.
If they don't get their heads out of their your know what by end of this year, Stargate is dead to me.
So sounds like we are 6 to 10 years away from anything happening and looking at the age of SG cast it's not gonna happen unless it's a reboot. Beacon 23 is boring and really seems like it does not know what it is doing with itself.
So no SG no B5.. sad times indeed.
Is this gonna go on for another 10 years?
Do me a favor. Don’t do another stargate video until they start production.
Do me a favor. How bout not tell a creator how to run their channel.
Now we know why the other Stargate channels weren’t in on this “exclusive”. Lol.
@@jaywtubeGateworld?
You don't want what they would do to Stargate, look at all the other reboots, it better this way trust me.
Anyone up for a crowdfund to buy a Stargate from MGM. 😂
Stop trying to make new streaming and put everything at the same place and maybe thing gonna go well
imho The whole streaming world is a mistake and dead end. When we had a video rental shops, it was a central place, where you payed for what you want only, no matter of what origin. The world really needs one common VOD platfrom, where people pay for specific titles. And I dont understand, why production companies do not allow "donations" from satisfied viewers. Or crowdfunding for hard and challenging projects... Today is a different time :V
I’m not trying to defend mgm or amazon, but the pressure to make a show that lives up to the brands reputation and will make them money must be intense.
But given how much they’re probably making off all the sg1 reruns, they owe the fans a closing out on both sga and sgu. And please tell us what happened to the furlings ffs.
The furlings planet got destroyed. SG-1 led the gou'ld right to them. Sad days.
Well hopefully we at least get that Star Trek show about a bunch of little shits at Starfleet Academy talking about boy problems and makeup.
