I loved that Lake! I was born and raised in Oregon, I started Scuba Diving in 1967 before a certification was required in Oregon. I dove in Clear Lake in the early 70's. Back then we didn't have drysuits we only used Wetsuits with "spine pads" and yes, it was dang cold!!! But I would not trade the experience for any warmer place...... Love this vid!! Brings back many memories!! Thanks
Some of my all time favorite dives there.. including a night dive at the springs.. laying on my back on the bottom, looking at bubbles rise into a field of stars and moon above the water... A lifetime memory! you must return and try it.
Bitplex It was... one of the best experiences of my whole life... The water here is very very cold, at the springs end of the lake, just a tiny bit above freezing. Dive in appropriate protection.. I did my first dive here in a 6mm with titanium wetsuit and it was horrid... ( and that was fine in Puget Sound) I came back with a full arctic rated compressed neoprene dry suit by Atlan of Canada... that was OK... made diving the springs end of the lake a pleasure.
I have been kayaking Clear Lake for years and it never fails to disappoint. It is always beautiful. The water, however, is colder than blue blazes! You never, never, want to end up 'in the creek!'
Absolutely beautifully euphoric dive. When you put your head under the water, it is like going down the rabbit hole and entering wonderland. Absolutely amazing dive. Thanks for the video.
@@butchkerrigan8397 I've fished plenty of water colder than that. Some above are saying there isn't enough oxygen in the water, others are saying there are fish at the opposite end. I didn't see or catch any there as a kid in the mid 60's.
Beautiful video - the water is so clear it feels like flying! I vaguely remember tent camping and canoeing with my family and relatives here when I was a little girl. My memory is that everyone was so happy and relaxed on this camping trip. Just my preference: I'd like to hear the natural sounds of the water and people (without added music).
What a beautiful video ! Oregon has the lock on clear lakes . When your in southern Oregon you don't have to carry any drinking water with you because they are all potable. Thanks for sharing this!
+bushbaby 1 Don't drink from lakes or steams without boiling first. clear water is not always clean .You can't see germs and it's all one big bathroom to the animals.
I must disagree. Even if there are no fish deer, rabbit, and other animals relieve themselves on the forest floor. The rain washes it all into the stream. As an avid hiker, camper, hunter i have learned you always purify your water. By the way i am from Washington.
Beautiful spot ! Reminds me of swimming in Crystal lake near Frankfort, Michigan. This was back in my College days in the early 80's. I was just amazed at how clear the water was while swimming around. You could see the bottom while in deep water....awesome
@jeff jones That doesn't ring a bell for me Jeff, but I'm going back almost 40 years ago when I was up there for College. Man, I can't believe it's been that long ago! I wonder if those lakes are still that clean as I remember the ones I swam in?! Hope so : ) Cheers
This is soooo cool! I've always wanted to go scuba diving but the sheer amount of different species of fish in ocean water always kind of terrified me! XD But it's amazing how there's no fish in this lake. It's eerie but really neat at the same time! Great video!
My wife and I visited this lake a year later. I filmed under water using my waterproof gopro on a selfie stick, not a fish in sight. I've seen people go fishing there on the far end though.
That's exceptional visibility! That's how clear the Rock Quarry is where I took my dive lessons back in 1986, which was in Howard County MD, I believe it was still inside Howard County lines, but it's been so long ago. Lol. The one side where we took our last test for OWD was 100 ft deep, which there was a pallet with cables going down to the bottom anchoring the pallet to the bottom, and then underneath the pallet were 4 × 50 gallon drums filled with air to keep the platform neutral point, which was at a depth of 20 ft. The other side of the Quarry was 140 ft deep, and had a crane underwater sitting on the bottom, and the crane had a 100 boom on it, so if you go down 40 ft you'll see the top of the boom of the crane. I never got the chance to go over to the other side to see it, but now you can't go diving or even swimming in the Quarry anymore, because asshole kids screwed it up for everyone, because they were getting drunk and diving off of the 50 rock cliff and then drowning, so they fenced it all off. I haven't been back since, I went diving in it once after they fenced it off, and then when I ascended to the surface, I heard this person yelling at me saying you can't be in there. When I got out and explained to him who I was and that I got my scuba diving certification there back in 1986, then the guy was cool about it, and he told me why they stopped people from being in there, so I was like I understand, but it sucks, and he said yes it does, so I left and went home. It was a great diving spot!
Haha wild swam i think thats the quarry in my hometown I've swam a few times . Are you talking about belive its called stone lake quarry in laurel/savage. In the gated community? Well at least now is a gated community. Always heard there was a crain down there stuck when they hit water while excavating
@@jamez2fly92 Yes, I believe that's the same place! I found Scuba Diving masks, fins and even a wine cooler that had never been opened, and the water is really cold at the depth I found it at, which was around 40' deep. I took it back to the top and drank it after I was done diving, it was good! Lol

They are obviously on the shallow side which is why you can see things growing. Probably the afternoon when fish aren’t out. If you dislike the music, turn it down. :) Great video! Been there a lot as a kid and used to see divers there. Always wondered what it looked like down there. Thanks.

This reminds me of when i went snorkeling off the coast of maui except there was alot of fish and lots of corals and it was really cool i saw some turtles too
for everyone saying that theres no fish. there wont be because there is no way for them to blend in/hide (water is to clear) so its about impossible for smaller fish to live. ig the bigger ones could cause they have less predictors but they cant survive without feeding pf the smaller fish.
I have personally been fishing at this lake and caught my limit (20 trout over the weekend) many times.. I'm utterly confused as to why there is no fish in this video and i assure you the lake is full of them.

To cold, seaweed in most rivers here in Idaho almost completely dies off in the winter, farmers using many forms of fertilizer is what makes most seaweed grow. We call it Milfoil here ,it sorta looks like aquarium weeds. It's not good, I'd call it a invasive species. The fish can't breath very well in slow moving river's with that in it. Takes all the oxygen. That seaweed in the lake looks like the seaweed in spring fed area's.

It's so clear it's like there's no water there, and so beautiful, especially the shades of green, stunning!
Any fish in the lake
Why can't all lakes be like this?? The major reason why I'm terrified of deep water is cause I can't see shit.
Go learn to scuba dive. Cured me, and I was afraid of bathtubs. I'm headed out to clear lake this weekend for the first time, super stoked!!

Nowhere for fish to hide in those waters. They are somewhere else in the lake
Not a lot of fish because the spring fed water is O2 deficient.
