You get an overlay to make your natural nails stronger... but mechanical buffing of the natural nail defeats the purpose, since it is buffing away layers of nail, leaving them thinner and weaker. You will be dependent on overlays forever if you do this.
Ask for an overlay with no buffing. It won't be as durable, but it's better than a weak nail. At most, lightly swipe your nails with the medium-fine grit on a buffing block to create some texture for the overlay to adhere to.
There's only two good reasons to buff a nail: 1) to remove peeling or 2) to smooth out extremely pronounced ridges.

Nice tutorial. I had to watch this several times. I have been practicing overlays on myself and I’m frustrated because I never lay the acrylic correctly, I believe I’m not making the bead big enough.

I know this isn’t like the dip powder but does it serve the same purpose as far as trying to grow out already healthy nails?
yes & no , a lot of people say they don’t like when the tip gets blended in because your nail tech can burn you and leave a ring of fire or even thin out your nail too much . Healthy nails depends on your health & if always you soak them off properly and not rip them off !

Hello......May I ask what powder and liquid you use ??............My liquid is CND Retention and it stinks to high heaven. I am an asthmatic which doesn't help either. I think I am making my bead too small and not using enough liquid. Thanks for your video.......

The real nail should not be seen. Two coats of nail polish is required.
Ew how do they even disinfect those tools I feel like they hold residue and then cross contaminate yuck lol I hate nail techs that are dirty
10 minutes in a half and half mixture of isopropyl alcohol and hydrogen peroxide does the trick. Also, by nature, the material of the actual nail product is antimicrobial. Bacteria cannot thrive in monomer, gel or polish bottles. So I’d say you’re pretty safe. Just verify that the bits are cleaned after each use and that no files are reused. You can always just do it yourself as well 😉
