Such a beautiful painting to start off your new journal. It amazes me how you can put pencil to paper, sketch a drawing freehand then end up with a masterpiece. Stunning work by a very talented young woman. I love watching your videos Kirsty.
I also agree with you about the ‘Faber Castell’ Pencils as they are so much higher quality than Derwent in general! The only set by them which I particularly adore are the ‘Derwent Inktense’ Pencils, but I do also like their ‘Derwent Signature’ Pencils too, I just wish I had gone for the Watercolour Version when I got them instead of the standard pencils as they would have been soooo much more versatile just like the ‘Derwent Inktense’ Pencils!

I like to work with both options and I love combining real watercolours with the pencils. You can also take the pigments directly from the pencils if you want the colour to be really opaque and vibrant. 😊
I have been a watercolorist for years, I recently discovered the watercolor pencils again after watching a youtuber "Hullo Alice" she is quite amazing. I like to use both now in most every painting I have been doing. I had Koh-I-noor years ago and I simple forgot about them! I treasure these pencils now! You are exceptional in every treatment I have watched you do!
These are my favourites! 😀 I have all of them! ❤️ these are very pigmented and you don’t need a lot of colour at all. I prefer these over normal watercolours!

They're also nice to add bits of color to regular watercolor paintings. Your painting is lovely and I'm enjoying your tutorials very much.
I'm inspired. I just drew my 1st sketch in my 1st watercolor journal. I'm going to make it a nature journal. My pic is of a flower that grows in my front yard every year. Very enjoyable and useful video, I can now try out my watercolour pencils I got for Christmas, looking forward to seeing more of your tutorials. Thank you
Amazing!!! Have to give mine a go again. I have Derwent. Must see if its how I applied them as I got brush strokes but I had absolutely no idea how to use them and gave up after one try. Thank you for this wonderful tutorial.
You can also use it to add details after the initial washes and layers are down and then just tap in or mist in a bit of moisture to activate the pigment.
Oh gosh, I have another question now too. That masking fluid pen looks awesome! I just looked it up and it is also refillable, and can be used with different tips. My question is, what brand of masking fluid would you recommend for use in this tool?
I have so much respect for an artist like yourself. I don't have an artistic bone in my body but I do like to create cards using stamps. I'm leaning towards purchasing a set of good watercolor pencils like this so I was quite interested in your video. You are very talented! 💞
I have a question: why painting into a scetchbook instead of selling these paintings or just hang them up at your walls? It’s a bit of a shame to have these stunning paintings just in a book..?! 🤔🙈😃
I do have watercolour pencils and i have no idea on how to use them thanks for uploading this video i cant believe u did it for the first time it really is very good now i can use the watercolour pencils
I'm impressed with how these watercolor pencils worked. I didn't think they would turn out a patenting like a regular painting like if you used regular watercolor paint from tubes or pallets..... nice work! And great job on the bravery of trying out a new medium. I would be scared to try it out because the what if i waste my money question would pop up. I wouldn't think you can return the pencils if i didn't like them....
ines jimenez if you want to try them out just know that you can scrape the lead of these pencils and mix them with water on a palette to get normal vibrant watercolors which is what I do sometimes.
Oh my goodness this is gorgeous I’ve never heard of this before I wished I could draw like you I would Draw pictures like this and frame them and put them on my wall while that’s absolutely gorgeous never heard of water painted pencils I would love to try it
Wow!! I just absolutely love & adore your painting 😍😍!! Thank you for showing us how they work!! I've been considering buying my daughter a set, but wanted to see them in action first. I think she's going to love them! 😊💜💜
How inspiring! I'm certainly more skilled using pencils than paints. Thia gives me hope for my future creations! You've gone and convinced me spoil myself a little and purchase these beautiful pencils. I already have plenty of multi-media paper. Thank you for the comprehensive review of this product. It's hard to find trustworthy reviews and seeing it in real time helps so much. The color chart is also very clever!
A set of new pencils... GOALS! I love pencils, I guess even I haven't done a single artwork in the last 2 years, my heart still goes for it! The HQ of Faber-Castell is just 20 min away from my home, so I actually have a lot of the Albrecht Dürrer watercolor pencils without ever buying a set, because they sold their selected seconds mostly with a broken tip... also they had some changes in their color palette a few years ago, so they sold the rest of the discontinued colors there as well!
I clicked into RUclips as I always do to watch quilting videos.this pencils video came up and I really enjoyed it so much so I’ve subscribed to your channel. I’ve heard women who quilt say they use pencils with there art quilts then set it with any iron. Any tips on this technique.
The colour chart is available, when you go into the link as suggested, just follow prompts and it will take you to the new site. Look at top right hand corner of the home page and where it says resources, click on this. There are are other colour charts there too. Thank you so much to the artist.
Thank you. I found this demonstration very helpful as I had been thinking of buying these but was undecided. I know now that I'll be adding them to my art supplies. 😁😁
thanks. Always struggle with Masking fluid to create the detail I want, and now just often resort to adding white highlights with a white-gel pen at the end. Will give this masking-fluid pen a go (just added to my basket),
Hi, Kristy. I thoroughly enjoyed your video and I really appreciate all you do to give back to the community. Good choice of watercolor pencils. I kept reaching out to them during inktober as they had the colours I needed though I only have the 36 set.
I just bought a box of 24 Albrecht Dürer watercolor pencils! So glad to find your demo here.
I’m really glad I bought these
Hello Kirsty nice tutorial and presentation👍 Sometimes I used pencil in combination with watercolor! This is awesome a watercolor pencil❤️❤️
that emerald green is ASTONISHING. WOW.
specially just how screens don't show well the in-betweens of RGB
You are SO gifted!!!! 👏👏👏👍😊😊🌺❤️
WoW!!! Love it, I’m thinking About buying some Watercolor pencils. Now I’m sure to buy them. Thanks!!
Hi Kirsty! I just love the way you explain about stuff. Thanks for sharing this amazing video about color pencils. It's very informative
I have the 36 giftbox set and really like them. Lovely idea for the painting.
Beautiful work. Another great video Kirsty 👍
Thank you :)
great painting beautiful ! !!!!☺
I as well have these. I’m excited to use them instead of just playing with them. 😉
OMFG this is gorgeous you have a new subscriber😩😩❤️❤️ I love using watercolor pencils too! Been a new favorite medium
Wow, you have a gift. I'm amazed at all of your work.💗
Love your presentation! Thank you!
So peaceful to watch.
I got a set for Christmas, nice to find this video. thanks!!
CAN YOU PUT A SCAN ONLINE, FOR THE EMPTY COLOR CHART, PLEASE
K J this link no longer works :( do you happen to have a copy to share please? Just got this exact set and would love to use this to swatch. Thanks!
I love the FC Albrecht Durer watercolor pencils.
i will have to try the pencils. i love it. your a great artist.
Thank you.
I found this demonstration very helpful as I had been thinking of buying these but was undecided.
I know now that I'll be adding them to my art supplies. 😁😁
wowwww the rubbable skechpen was amazing
wow woah
Beautiful!!! More flower paintings pleaseeee!!! 😀😀
You are so talented and a great teacher! You have inspired me!
I'm a beginner and just starting out but I learn so much from you (probably because I could listen to that beautiful voice of yours all day, with apologies to your hubby haha). I'm disabled and on a fixed income so $ is tight but I will try to support you on patreon at some point. It's just hard because after I buy a few supplies, I'm tapped out. Anyways, thank you for giving us the opportunity to watch your work on RUclips. John Sacco
Wowwwww!! It's so beautiful😍😍😍😍🙌💛
Omg I love it ❤️ I think I will buy those they look really pigmented 😍
Yeah they are beautiful! Very vibrant and great quality pencils! Definitely worth the extra money in my opinion 😊💕
I just got my Faber-Castell water pencils yesterday. I am not good but I will try my best to learn. 🥰
I really love the gradient idea for your watercolour chart :) I'm still learning how to use watercolour pencils and still keep on pressing down too hard for lighter areas in my drawings!
Wonderful! I also got watercolor pencils and I am loving it. Thanks for your tips and inspiration :)
