  • The weather was forecast to be quite nice at around 1 to 3 degrees with a slight breeze. A relaxing time with very little work to do. The Jimny camping set up is starting to get really convenient with each improvement I make.
    A lot of people love the idea of a fast set up and tear down but I enjoy picking the right spot and taking my time. It's all part of the experience.
    It’s a private woodland I’m in where you pay a small fee to be able to camp there. There’s no facilities so it’s a bit like wild camping but legal. In the UK it’s not easy to find places to camp.where you have permission to light a fire. Speaking of which, the fire is simply for warmth. How I light the fire is using flint and steel and I do it that way because it’s good practice and I enjoy the process. It’s clearly not a survival situation and I’m not destroying the environment or risking injury (or an irresponsible idiot as someone has commented.. well the jury’s out on that one 😉).
    I hoped the footage would be good quality as I shot it with an iPhone 11 Pro. Unfortunately it's not as good as expected. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, I'll try to do better next time.
    Hope you enjoy it. If you like watching a guy in the woods doing relatively nothing I'm sure you'll give it a like ha ha.
    Thank you :D

      Hi mate. Trying to remember where I got it. I think it’s a part of an old camp kitchen setup and repurposed. Although I have seen them for sale separately too. I had to cut a notch out for the gas pipe to run through and works a treat 👍

    • @flapbean
      @flapbean 2 года назад

      @@OutThereEquipped I’m browsing Amazon as I type.. there’s a few available for less than £15. At that price not worth attempting a DIY!
      I went with the quick connect gas terminals they are brilliant except it leaves one of the ends permanently poking out the unit and susceptible to damage.

    Hey love this Chanel ... I really want a Jimny I think they look great👌🏻I have a Range Rover evoque at the mo I live in Kent countryside so need a 4x4.... my car is always covered in mud from my dog to I’m a long distance walker. Would I be sacrificing that much by giving up my evoque?

    • @OutThereEquipped
      @OutThereEquipped  4 года назад

      Hi thanks for the kind words 😊
      My neighbour has an evoque and I guess the 3 main sacrifices you’d be making moving to a Jimny are
      1. Less storage space
      2. Smaller fuel tank
      3. It won’t be as nice on road as your evoque
      None of those 3 things matter for our usage but I think it’s best to show the good in the videos and be honest about bad.
      Overall we absolutely love the jimny and it’s incredible off road. It’ll come down to whether you can manage with it’s few limitations. They can be a deal breaker for lots of people :)

      Hey 👋🏼 the rock was to help level the car so the tent was flat. Saves sliding to one side during the night. I ought to get some levelling blocks really as that’s not great for the tire.

    Love it mate. Jimny's have definitely got many off us quite excited, and your set-up looks like a real beauty. I'd reckon you have thought this through & arrived at a really nice comfy set-up.
    Just a thought from me, if that's okay. With cooking in rear of car, which I reckon looks pretty damn nifty, have you got your fire extinguisher handy?
    In Australia we would normally avoid camping directly under trees 'just in case' branches come crashing down. Some of our gums are actually known as Widow Makers, and every so often there's news reports of campers killed by falling branches. Your forest though, looks almost manicured. So I'm guessing that's probably not an issue?

    • @OutThereEquipped
      @OutThereEquipped  4 года назад

      Cheers Bill, yeah i've got a fire extinguisher on the left below the little table. Totally agree and I was a bit hesitant of cooking inside the back tailgate at first. I've a fire blanket too.
      The woodland I usually camp in is a managed area, you pay a small fee for your own private plot. However I do check for window makers, they'd make a fun night pretty rubbish in no time eh!

    • @andrifsig
      @andrifsig 4 года назад

      @@OutThereEquipped Agree with the nice setup. But added to the potential fire hazard of cooking inside, then odors from gas cooking is likely to remain inside of the car and added to the moisture from the hot water then that will over time and use take its toll on the interior. Nice setup though and comfortable. I would maybe check out a drawer/shelf system that you could pull the cooking and dishwasher setup outside of the vehicle but still be attached. Much better ventilation and you would still get the cover needed from the roof top tent and the awning. Unless you get weather like here in Iceland with sideways rain blowing every which way.... :)

    Can anyone tell me what's the point of parking the Jimny on top of one rock only?
    Is it to stop the vehicle from going back?

    • @OutThereEquipped
      @OutThereEquipped  3 года назад +1

      It’s to level the car flat for sleeping in the tent. There was a dip in the ground where the rock is :)

    Good to get out in nature. The only thing i would do different is to cook outside the car otherwise the smell and grease gets embedded into the upholstery.

      We’ve literally just been talking about that! Got some ideas to try but you’re right it will get a bit messy over time. Need some set up tweaking 👍

    what are the red lights used for?

    • @OutThereEquipped
      @OutThereEquipped  3 года назад

      Mainly because they draw less power than setting them to white light. Red light helps your night vision too.
