  • Successful fishing is always a matter of answering two questions: 1) Are there fish in this area? and 2) If there are, what are they biting?
No matter how good of a fisherman you are, you can't have success if there aren't fish in the area you're fishing, obviously, and even if there are, you won't catch many if they're not interested in what you're throwing.
On my most recent trip, I found an area that was definitely holding fish, and I caught a few of them but not nearly as many as I felt I should have.
Then I made an easy adjustment that took me from occasional bites to every-cast action. Check out the video for all the details!

In Texas a 18 inch is the size you want to keep. In Louisiana its getting thrown back. Weird to hear someone say they like eating a 12 incher.

this is exactly why I’ve been against Department of wildlife and fisheries changing the size limit. I’m fine with 15 fish limit instead of 25 per person. Great video I was at Lake Saint Catherine on the 18th same thing, shrimp birds reds and specks I even had a redfish steal a pole. The bite is still on and getting better love the videos keep them coming.

Try fishing Alabama where the speck limit is 6 and size 15” -22” . The average fisherman will never get to keep a fish

I fish Calcasieu lake where we've been at 15 for a long time. it is more than enough fish.
I have also fished around dauphin island and Galveston Bay and the quality of fish is substantially better than I've caught in Louisiana and they have far more conservative creel limits.

Yea I agree 25 a person is ridiculous. I normally keep 10-15 at the most. So far this year we either hit schools of 10” or 15-16” trout.

Wish versamaxx would make a cork like the 4horseman, but adjustable. Ive had that versamaxx adjustment part break off on 2 corks. Not from a fish, simply popping the cork.

I love watching your videos but I have never fished that area of the lake Borgne and Catherine . Were would you start from. I’ll probably launch out of chefs pass someplace. Thanks

Love watching and learning from you, keep the videos coming. The wife and I are going to be moving southeast from where we are at now (DeRidder) and come live the life down there when our daughter graduates in three years and I can't wait. I notice that you don't tag the trout you release, I am also part of the TAG Louisiana program and can't you use the same tags for reds and trout?
