I preordered this yesterday with the dark grey dial and black subdials. I am actually a fan of 36mm watches since I feel they look best on my 6.75" wrist. My biggest concern was the long lugs but I took a chance. If you signed up with Maen, they were offering promo codes for 40 Euro off which helped with the decision. I guess I'll find out in August (when it ships), if I made the right call.

My wrist is between 7.25-.35" personally love how most pieces with a Lug to Lug of 46-48mm fit (depending on the case and shape of the lugs). The proportions obviously come into play as well, but still. Most of my collection is made up of 38-41mm pieces with a Lug Width within or dang close to that 46-48mm range I mentioned and while all of them fit ME perfectly in my opinion, many of them would look great on a 6.75" wrist as well. I don't have many pieces under $1000 in my collection anymore, but that doesn't mean I don't keep up with the quality affordable pieces coming out and this thing looks GREAT. I've been waiting for Tissot to make an automatic PRX in the 37-38mm range for what feels like forever now (pretty much since the first 40mm Quartz released and I found it too much of a bargain to pass up). IMO it made zero sense to make the second release so small compared to the first UNLESS they have one in between in the future plans. So we'll see. It took them long enough for rubber straps even though it's a pretty "duh" thing to make and release for a watch like the PRX. So I've continued to keep up with brands like Traska, Maen, Tissot (still), Monta although they're a bit more expensive (I own a Noble and I haven't seen better finishing or a better bracelet or clasp in a watch below the Tudor/Omega etc range. They could keep using the SW-300 base and charge a good chunk more, but they give great value. This Maen though... It has my attention. A Day-Date 40 is the closest I have to a perpetual calendar 😂😂😂 Essentially equal to all of the Seikos with both a day and date I had when I started getting into this deep rabbit hole. I love the proportions, I LOVE the Dial (Looking at this one: www.maenwatches.com/products/brooklyn-36-atc-04) and all of the detail... The texture along the minute track that matches the sub-dials... Love it. Unless Tissot surprises with a "goldilocks" PRX PM80, I may end up with pre-ordering that Model. I just hope the bracelet is as good as it looks

Been collecting for a while, CasiOak to the other Oak. The Manhattan 37 silver dial is one of my funnest watch. It’s versatile, elegant, and the light play on the dial and bracelet are better than most watches, regardless of price. The shipping is infuriatingly slow though, but we’ll worth the wait. Just ignore the tracking, lol. Enjoy

This is not a $600 watch my friend. It retails for €849,- here in the Netherlands, with a discount price of €749,- that brings it in competition with some very nice Seiko, Tissot and Orient watches with the same level of detail and inhouse movement. It is a nice watch, but this is not the next big thing.
Have the Manhattan silver dial with date (no date sold out that round) and very happy with it. I wish the power reserve lasts longer but sacrificed for thinness. My Octo Finissimo came in at the same time, and they are equally enjoyable. The dial of the Manhattan and the Octo movement manipulate light as good as anything, only slightly behind the White Birch and ahead of the ice blue PRX. Maybe their QC has gotten a lot better. Regardless, glad I got it and would get another from Maen. The shipping is infuriatingly slow, especially since you can track it.
Why is everyone so focused on Rolex? Comparing everything to Rolex. Rolex is a middle-class luxury watch for Snobs and far very away from a watch that you could compare all watches to. If people like Rolex, it is fine, but don't fool yourself it is and always will be a VOLKSWAGEN, not a Rolls Royce 😅
Maen is the first independent watch maker that I honestly want every one of their models. While I'm sure it will end eventually, right now it's like this Dutchman is in my head when it comes to watch design. And now there's another one I need to save up for.
That's my thought, too. I want every model of their watches, they are very unique and very attractive and that is something not even some of they high end brands are not able to achieve
I cannot believe you're still promoting this brand! Their QC is horrendous, to the point where that alone is enough to never touch the brand again. With the extremely slow shipping and over all poor customer service on top it's just.. makes me shiver. The only thing this brand kills is your hairline (if you're fortunate enough to have one) and your sanity.

It is a bit puzzling to see these kind of comments while we have tried to accommodate you and you even acknowledged our communication and good intentions in our email correspondence. It is also worth mentioning that our products have improved greatly compared to a few years ago. Our customer reviews speak for themselves and just because you were not happy with the watch does not mean that other people would agree or that our products cannot improve going forward. All i expected was finished watch, not a shop window mock-up. I get that it might be a bit puzzling to you, it's also a bit puzzling to me how you take this to a comment section on a youtube video. I rarely complain, comment or discuss on the internet and I see myself as a fairly reasonable person. So me actually feeling the need let people know about my experience and how poor of a product i recieved and that people should be wary about it, is quite telling! I sure hope for both your sake and all your paying customers sake that your watches have improved, because that can't have been hard to do. Personally i will never find out. I love their catalog but Maen really need a nicer logo 😅 I know it's a silly thing to criticize but I feel like it's the only thing holding it back. Their designs are awesome (obviously since they rely on timeless classics for inspiration).
I think I understand where you are coming from. Personally, I believe the typeface and proportions as such aren't even half bad. But if you didn't know the brand and the reasons for choosing the name (which actually means "moon" in Old Dutch and also seems to refer to the name of a ship of the Dutch East India Co. which undertook an expedition to the East Coast of North America, exploring places such as what is now known as Long Island, Manhattan, the Hudson River, and Brooklyn - hence the model names of the watches), it would be all too easily confused with one of the many Chinese (probably AI-generated) brand names such as "Smael", "Lige", "Cadisen", etc., which seem to try to convey a sense of substance and credibility by sounding somewhat European...

ANYONE who wants a Rolex either specifically wants a Rolex, or they want something that has all of the same brand attributes. Maen has almost none of those. I’m sure they make a great quality watch, but be serious: the only reason you’re talking about them in this way is because it’s an ad (and it’s more typical Rolex clickbait). Btw, watch “review” channels (if that is what you call yourself lol) tend not to do full advertisement videos for brands like this because it obliterates your trustworthiness as a reviewer. Nothing wrong with sponsored content, but it needs to be heavily disclosed and you need to actually provide an objective review of the product. Otherwise, you’re just a glorified salesman.
Another one of these annoying microbrands, no watches are available you have to pre order. Studio Underdog are another. I put my order in September last year and have heard nothing? You are better off getting a brand you can actually buy like Hamilton, Tissot or Longines. This watch culture of pre ordering is crap!☹️
One problem. Ya can't read the dial to tell the time. I don't wear my Skymaster. I got to twist my wrist around to catch the light just right to tell time.
Fabulous, videos like this make me reconsider the status quo of watch videos. Something refreshing and personal, not the same opinion of the same few watches.
I like how wide apart the subdials are conversely I dislike when they are placed too close together as it makes the dial look "cross eyed". The coloring is a little dull though to my taste on the that one. The rectangular one is overall nicely done.
These new independent manufacturers are extremely exciting because they bring back what makes a watch a WATCH: Passion and Obsession. There are no boring special editions here. There are no indexes citing what they're worth on the open market here. These are people with extreme, passionate obsessions that make what they want...because they can, and selling them only to fund their obsession. The future of watchmaking is looking very very very good and I can't wait to see more of these geniuses with imposter syndrome introduce their passion pieces.
my only gripes is that of the maen logo isn't fancy enough its not wide if it needs to be wide and its not narrow if it needs to be narrow, the font could be better that's it
No Maen is totally NOT a Rolex alternative. I bought one once (not this model), sent it back. It's very very cheap looking in real live. Believe me Seiko does a far better job. I can't believe this model will do the job. Hyped by RUclips "influencers" most likely paid.
Agree completely. Hype for hire is everywhere in the watch game. I bought a Lorier off all the RUclips marketing & FOMO hype. It is pure and utter crap. Hands look like they were made by a dyslexic toddler on crack. Belongs in the trash, too much of a POS to even sell in good conscience.
I can’t speak to “R’s” experience, but I tried on Maen’s GMT and Manhattan at NYC Windup last year and was really impressed with the quality and finishing of them. I’ve got both on my list to buy.

Hard to really judge it on this prototype as it’s a bit rough around the edges. The day/month hands aren’t centred, the second hand looks pissed at an angle and the application of the black dots is all over the place.
Two things friend, movement is in-group not in-house. 2-the hands bend down towards the dial to assist precise reading. It’s an old watchmaking trick, usually in chronos - if the hands sit high above the dial it’s v hard to be precise reading the increments
Mark me down as "excited." I've had my eye on Maen for a while, albeit casually. But after seeing this, I'm officially off-the-fence, and want to know and see more.
Nice looking watch, but 36 mm, way too small. I've got 19 cm (7.5 inch) wrist and watches smaller than 40 mm just look silly on my arm. Maybe I can pull it off with 39 mm, but that's it. This trend of making very small watches really annoys me.
I hope this channel would give some attention to Aragon. They offer some distinct twists to established designs and they're really great value for money.
I'm not really a fan of Rolex and wouldn't buy one even if I had the money and time. But this watch and Maen as a brand are about as far from Rolex as you can get! 😑
I would definitely choose this over a Rolex. It has refined looks, good finishing, though it's a bit too small for me, and a price that would make me comfortable enough to actually freakin' wear the thing.

The seconds hand is slanted, so it seems they've bent the pinion when installing it... doesn't really scream quality :/ Also the brand name is unfortunately horrible, or perhaps not the name but the logo itself. It screams a I'M A CLONE OF ANOTHER WATCH WITH SOME RANDOM NAME STAMPED ON THE DIAL.

MAEN Watch is Awesome. Very nice balanced look. Less is more I agree. I have Hamilton watches that I enjoy and feel ok to wear them my Khaki Field is on now and feels great not so worried about dings at the price point it is a keeper and useful.
There's about a million watches that fit big wrists. Those of us with small wrists have felt shunned for a long time. Thankfully watches like this are giving us options we didn't have before.
How does MAEN convince reputable online reviewers to give such high praise ($$$)? You can see in the b-roll the second hand is tilted - not even on straight! (2:05) I get this is a prototype, but it's part or your marketing campaign! I bought the Greenwich GMT based on reviews like this and was so disappointed. Sold it within a few months. Quality and finishing did not justify the $750+ price tag. Won't buy from MAEN again.
Came in just to dislike the video. Rolex doesn't even make a reverse panda with two sub-dial date complication, enough of the click baits of what "beats" Rolex and maybe compare relevant watches to each other, e.g. 2 sub-dial watches to... other two dial options.

I'm excited about this watch. There are triple calendar watches out there but almost everyone of them are larger than 40mm. I like the 36mm to 38mm watches since they fit my wrist better.

I'm in the kinda uncomfortable position of having preordered their GMT a few months ago, and now one of these, without having received the first order yet (or having any experience with the brand). And I'm *extremely* tempted to get a Manhattan too. I haven't seen much to suggests these watches won't be really, really nice, but these lllooonnng wait times seem to be in conflict with the rapid rate of launch; I feel like they'd be a major turnoff to less impulsive buyers, and a possible recipe for expensive irritation for people like me. We'll see, I guess... * The fact that my typical purchase is around half Maen's asking prices, or less, is not helping my anxiety.
The MAEN day/month “panda” isn’t even close. If you want something close to the Rolex, get a Tudor Black Bay Chronograph, but if that’s still to rich for your blood, a Hamilton Chronograph panda should fit the bill.
If Rolex released this watch the internet would explode. Lovely looking time piece. I took the chance and ordered one when they opened the pre-orders. I'm looking forward to seeing how this wears on the wrist and what the final build quality will be like.

I'd buy this in a heart beat if this watch could be worn while swimming. Thats why Rolex is so special for me, the oyster case represents safety. I love 36mm, but if this had 100m of water resistance this is an instant buy for me! loving this brand

I’m sure they make a great quality watch, but be serious: the only reason you’re talking about them in this way is because it’s an ad (and it’s more typical Rolex clickbait). Btw, watch “review” channels (if that is what you call yourself lol) tend not to do full advertisement videos for brands like this because it obliterates your trustworthiness as a reviewer. Nothing wrong with sponsored content, but it needs to be heavily disclosed and you need to actually provide an objective review of the product. Otherwise, you’re just a glorified salesman.

Another one of these annoying microbrands, no watches are available you have to pre order. Studio Underdog are another. I put my order in September last year and have heard nothing? You are better off getting a brand you can actually buy like Hamilton, Tissot or Longines. This watch culture of pre ordering is crap!☹️

I like how wide apart the subdials are conversely I dislike when they are placed too close together as it makes the dial look "cross eyed". The coloring is a little dull though to my taste on the that one. The rectangular one is overall nicely done.

These new independent manufacturers are extremely exciting because they bring back what makes a watch a WATCH: Passion and Obsession. There are no boring special editions here. There are no indexes citing what they're worth on the open market here. These are people with extreme, passionate obsessions that make what they want...because they can, and selling them only to fund their obsession. The future of watchmaking is looking very very very good and I can't wait to see more of these geniuses with imposter syndrome introduce their passion pieces.
my only gripes is that of the maen logo isn't fancy enough its not wide if it needs to be wide and its not narrow if it needs to be narrow, the font could be better that's it

No Maen is totally NOT a Rolex alternative. I bought one once (not this model), sent it back. It's very very cheap looking in real live. Believe me Seiko does a far better job. I can't believe this model will do the job. Hyped by RUclips "influencers" most likely paid.

Agree completely. Hype for hire is everywhere in the watch game. I bought a Lorier off all the RUclips marketing & FOMO hype. It is pure and utter crap. Hands look like they were made by a dyslexic toddler on crack. Belongs in the trash, too much of a POS to even sell in good conscience.
I can’t speak to “R’s” experience, but I tried on Maen’s GMT and Manhattan at NYC Windup last year and was really impressed with the quality and finishing of them. I’ve got both on my list to buy.

Hard to really judge it on this prototype as it’s a bit rough around the edges. The day/month hands aren’t centred, the second hand looks pissed at an angle and the application of the black dots is all over the place.
Wish all watches has a display case back, especially in this size
I have now spent 30min trying to find out if it has screwed down crown. Maybe that says something about the real quality, brand and customer concern.
Two things friend, movement is in-group not in-house. 2-the hands bend down towards the dial to assist precise reading. It’s an old watchmaking trick, usually in chronos - if the hands sit high above the dial it’s v hard to be precise reading the increments
Mark me down as "excited." I've had my eye on Maen for a while, albeit casually. But after seeing this, I'm officially off-the-fence, and want to know and see more.
Nice looking watch, but 36 mm, way too small. I've got 19 cm (7.5 inch) wrist and watches smaller than 40 mm just look silly on my arm. Maybe I can pull it off with 39 mm, but that's it. This trend of making very small watches really annoys me.

I would definitely choose this over a Rolex. It has refined looks, good finishing, though it's a bit too small for me, and a price that would make me comfortable enough to actually freakin' wear the thing.

The seconds hand is slanted, so it seems they've bent the pinion when installing it... doesn't really scream quality :/ Also the brand name is unfortunately horrible, or perhaps not the name but the logo itself. It screams a I'M A CLONE OF ANOTHER WATCH WITH SOME RANDOM NAME STAMPED ON THE DIAL.

MAEN Watch is Awesome. Very nice balanced look. Less is more I agree. I have Hamilton watches that I enjoy and feel ok to wear them my Khaki Field is on now and feels great not so worried about dings at the price point it is a keeper and useful.

There's about a million watches that fit big wrists. Those of us with small wrists have felt shunned for a long time. Thankfully watches like this are giving us options we didn't have before.
How does MAEN convince reputable online reviewers to give such high praise ($$$)? You can see in the b-roll the second hand is tilted - not even on straight! (2:05) I get this is a prototype, but it's part or your marketing campaign! I bought the Greenwich GMT based on reviews like this and was so disappointed. Sold it within a few months. Quality and finishing did not justify the $750+ price tag. Won't buy from MAEN again.
Came in just to dislike the video. Rolex doesn't even make a reverse panda with two sub-dial date complication, enough of the click baits of what "beats" Rolex and maybe compare relevant watches to each other, e.g. 2 sub-dial watches to... other two dial options.

I'm excited about this watch. There are triple calendar watches out there but almost everyone of them are larger than 40mm. I like the 36mm to 38mm watches since they fit my wrist better.

I'm in the kinda uncomfortable position of having preordered their GMT a few months ago, and now one of these, without having received the first order yet (or having any experience with the brand). And I'm *extremely* tempted to get a Manhattan too. I haven't seen much to suggests these watches won't be really, really nice, but these lllooonnng wait times seem to be in conflict with the rapid rate of launch; I feel like they'd be a major turnoff to less impulsive buyers, and a possible recipe for expensive irritation for people like me. We'll see, I guess...

The MAEN day/month “panda” isn’t even close. If you want something close to the Rolex, get a Tudor Black Bay Chronograph, but if that’s still to rich for your blood, a Hamilton Chronograph panda should fit the bill.
