it isn't that they are always followed by a verb, it is that you are not introducing someone else to do that verb You could quite happily have a pronoun after it. La femme qui lui donne une fleur ce qui nous amuse ....

I made a small remarks that it might be useful to signal colloquialism, this is all. I did not realize one cannot suggest any critique to you at all. Never mind.
