Black Panther was actually pushed forward 5 months and Captain Marvel was pushed back 4 months. John was looking at the dates from before Spider-Man joined the Universe.
Black Panther got moved forward not pushed back. It was originally July 6 2018, now it is February 16 2018. That of course is Black Panther's second move as it originally did start on November 3rd 2017 before spider-man. And Also, Captain Marvel moved from November 2nd 2018 to march 8 2019 because of the same reason.
So Black Panther is now on Black History Month, while Captain Marvel is now on International Women's Day. Either way, I'm glad that Ant-Man is getting a sequel.
I say it's marketing genius. The movies would get extra attention. More attention is what many studios would want, 'cuz more attention means more dollar bills.
+TheMemph10 They referenced the original date before it got pushed back after the spiderman announcement so while it wasnt up to date it was an accurate first date so chill out jeez man this isnt a news show this is a "talk show" and the dates are correct on their "news" site collider.com
Wasn't Alexandre Desplat nominated for both Grand Budapest hotel and The Imitation Game for Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Picture? Pretty sure he even won for Grand Budapest hotel
Some casting news announced Lionsgate and Saban has found their Pink Power Ranger in the upcoming Mighty Morphin Power Rangers film in Naomi Scott. Don't really know much about her but glad to finally see some casting on the movie.
John. I loved that line with Dark Helmet playing with his dolls too. They best part about the character is that Rick is the least intimidating guy in movies and he plays the bad guy. So classic from start to finish.
I will always remember Rick Moranis as Barney Rubble in The Flintstones. He was a cool Barney Rubbles and worked well with John Goodman & Rosie O'Donnell.
Alexander Desplat was mentioned in a previous comment, but John Williams has also been nominated for 2 scores in the same year multiple times, most recently in 2012 for War Horse and The Adventures of Tin Tin.
Steven Soderbergh was nominated twice for Best Director for TRAFFIC and ERIN BROCKOVICH in the year 2000. He won for TRAFFIC. Alexandre Desplat was also nominated twice for Best Original Score for THE IMITATION GAME and THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL in 2014. He won for THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL.
idk about a single actor getting nominated for 2 different movies in one category in the same year whether it was lead or supporting but I do remember Steven Soderbergh getting nominated twice in 2000 for Best Director for both Traffic and Erin Brockovich...and then won for Traffic.
I hope they keep his intelligence and being able show he's as brilliant in his fields as they've done, Tony, Hank, and Bruce. He definitely better match Cap in combat too BP is a beast in various fighting styles.
The casting of Gugu Mbata-Raw is one of those underrated castings no one will talk about, but should. She is endlessly talented and equally as beautiful. Sci-fi is great for diverse casts for some reason and this is proving it all the more.
seeing Pan tomorrow. also planning to watch the new Eli Roth film Knock Knock, the Horror/Comedy The Final Girls, the Julianne Moore film Freeheld & the Andrew Garfield/Michael Shannon drama 99 Homes.
While you might not be able to get nominated twice in the same category now, it has happened. In fact, the very first Oscars saw Richard Barthelmess nominated for best actor for his roles in both The Noose & The Patent Leather Kid. The 1930 Ocsars saw three actors nominated twice for Best Actor in a Leading Role.
I think Ant-Man and the Wasp it's cool. Specially if the movie actually embraces what the comics did back in the day and portrait it as a superhero couple.
Black Panther didn't get pushed back -only Captain Marvel did and CM got pushed back from November to March (4 months). The dates you mentioned are the original dates given back in October -those dates were changed in February when Spider-Man pushed Thor 3, Black Panther and Captain Marvel back. NOW Black Panther is pushed FORWARD from July to February (5 months) when Ant-Man and the Wasp took its date.
As far as composers go, Alexandre Desplat was nominated for two different films in the most recent Academy Awards and won for his score for Grand Budapest Hotel.
A.R. Rahman got 3 oscar nominations for Slumdog millionaire and won 2. 2 of those nominations were in the same category (he was 2 of the 3 nominees in some catagory).
I love the title Ant-Man and the Wasp, but I'm sure they'll change it eventually. Although, I hate that they pushed back Captain Marvel again. That's their first female driven superhero movie and they're just keep pushing back it. Well done Marvel, well done.
+Máté Vajda Or it could be that Antman and the Wasp will focus on the Wasp more hence her inclusion in the title. If it does focus on her maybe they can spin her off into her own movie.
+Máté Vajda Yeah, I'll believe Captain Marvel is happening once my ass is sitting in the theater and the Marvel logo appears. Until then I'm just gonna assume it's gonna be pushed back for the Spider-Man sequel, the Doctor Strange sequel, Fantastic Four Reboot and a stand-alone Rocket Racoon movie.
Rick Moranus has actually pursued his passion which is a music careeer. THis has been common knowledge to music and arts fans. He was always typecast as the same character.
I agree with all the things said about Rick Moranis. In the article, he also mentions that he doesn't get social media and does not use it. I think that because of his disconnection from social media, he may not have a full picture of how popular those movies are. I get where he is coming from, just saying maybe he doesn't know how much people love those movies?
John the marvelous dates were already changed after SpiderMan. And Black Panther actually moved up this time it was originally pushed back to July 2018 now up to February. But Captain Marvell just got pushed from july to Nov to march
So far from all the dc movie news it seems alot like they are following the same story structure like how they do it in their comics. They first introduce the hero, he/she is mysterious, then a few issues down the line we get the origin. Other than man of steel It just feels as though "The batman" and "Wonder woman" are going that route.
+Not DC enough (Oisín McMahon) Are you talking about the montage? Yeah, it was cool. It's what director Gavin Hood wanted X-Men Origins: Wolverine to be -- to tell Wolverine's story by showing the audience what his days in war were like and how he struggled to cope with it. Though Fox thought that showing the audience how Wolverine struggled with PTSD during his time in war would be too depressing.
+superherofan24 The Weapon X creation scene was straight from the books, even recreating a few of the the Barry Winsor Smith panels to boot...so that was also cool. Liev was great casting with nothing to do, maybe revisit him and write the character better...imagine that Donovan swagger now...
Regarding an actor not being able to be nominated in the same category more than once, what I don't get is why an actor can't but a director can. Steven Soderbergh was nominated for best director twice in 2001 for Traffic and Erin Brockovich. He didn't split the vote either because he ended up winning for Traffic.
I actually think Black Panther has been brought forward, it was originally scheduled for November 2017, which takes place before Infinity War pt1, then pushed back to July 2018 after the Spiderman deal, placing it after Infinity war pt1 now I believe its February as you said, so I think its been brought forward again, placing it an amazing 4 months before Infinity war part 1, great time to be a comic book film fan :)
What about the OTHER 3 un-named movies, Marvel announced too? I have a feeling, that something big is coming! Maybe another arrangement with other studios or even other publishers!
What the news on Wonder Woman tells me is the villain will be Ares, and in act 3, Wonder Woman will stop him from starting World War 3. Being that the movie will tie into JL, I might wrong.
Love the show, but a correction at the beginning. Black Panther was actually moved up to February 2018, as it was previously slated for July 2018. And I think it's a really great idea opening this on Black History Month.
Actually, and I can't believe y'all didn't know this, they moved UP the release date for BLACK PANTHER with this new update, which is better. Yes, originally BLACK PANTHER was moved back from its original release dates of November 3rd 2017 to July 6th 2018, because they got the co-rights to Spider-Man and put in the new movie and pushed some films back, but BLACK PANTHER is now being moved up to February 16th 2018.
I think everyone was expecting it to be a grand spectacle (having just come off of an event film) and it just wasn't. I think marvel should've waited until like August, September, or even October
Ant-Man actually hasn't passed Thor domestically or worldwide. It's about $40 million behind worldwide, but has a shot to get there with China. However, it's out of steam domestically, and will fall short, even though it's less than $3 million behind. It has done better than the first Cap and The Incredible Hulk though.
Alexandre Desplat just this last year was nominated twice for Best Original Score (Grand Budapest and Imitation Game). So it isn't true outside of the acting fields.
Here's my take on what happened with the Alien movies. I think it's really came across that Scott got a bit of a fright when he learned that Alien 5 was maybe going to be made. Talks with Blomkamp seemed fairly positive and it looked as though the movie was going to go ahead. Then 3 or 4 weeks later we see Scott talking his sequel and how he would rather that come out first. But something really interesting happens. We know that Scott has wanted to distance himself a little from the Alien franchise with his new movies set in the same universe, and he said previously that Paradise Lost was going to go even further away from the Alien franchise. 3 or 4 weeks AFTER Alien 5 is outted and Blomkamp shows sketches and ideas we now have Scott renaming Paradise Lost to Alien: Paradise Lost, and generally being warmer to the idea of introducing elements of the Alien franchise in his new movie. I think he's basically chose to incorporate more from Alien in his next movie in that universe because he doesn't want the Blomkamp movie to get off the ground properly just yet, probably to satisfy studio bosses and what not. Bit of a dick move as I see it, as I did enjoy Prometheus but wasn't too hot on the distance between that and the original Alien, thematically and story wise. Is it just me who's came to this conclusion?
John, Black Panther and Captain Marvel had already been moved thanks to spiderman. so the new dates are different when compared. Black Panther MOVED UP to february, and Captain Marvel only moved back 4 months
As I'm sure someone has already commented, but for those like me who are too lazy to scroll down, you guys are right, an actor/actress cannot be nominated twice in the same category in the same year. (A fun fact Barry Fitzgerald was nominated for best lead and supporting actor for the same performance in 1944 for Going My Way and why the rule was changed) Your feelings were also right as you CAN be nominated twice in the same category in the same year for the technical awards. A couple examples are Roger Deakins, my favorite cinematographer, being nominated for best cinematography for both No Country for Old Men and Assassination of Jesse James in 2007, Alexandre Desplat this past year for his score in Budapest, which he won, and Imitation Game, and Steven Soderbergh for best directorfor Traffic (he won) and Erin Brockovich in 2000. Sorry for the long comment, keep up the filthy.
Glad to hear that "Antman" is getting a sequel it should be interesting to see Paul Rudd, & Evangeline Lilly's relationship change up even more in the future. On a side note I wonder How Evangeline Lilly would do as a vampire? I can ponder it is almost Halloween. Thanos will be coming for the collector for two reasons 1. he has a stone, 2. eliminate the competition. But after that we may still see Benicio Del Toro continuing as the Collector. The news about Wonder Woman is interesting, but I'll wait to see the film. Still looking forward to the Black Panther, & Captain Marvel films too.
"In the event that two achievements by an actor or actress receive sufficient votes to be nominated in the same category, only one shall be nominated using the preferential tabulation process and such other allied procedures as may be necessary to achieve that result" From the Oscar rule book.
Baskin robins broke the ant man news
+Connor Ketcham They always know :0
Baskin Robbins always finds out.
Black Panther was actually pushed forward 5 months and Captain Marvel was pushed back 4 months. John was looking at the dates from before Spider-Man joined the Universe.

I love Ant-Man and The Wasp! I'm so tired of these generic movie titles. "Rise of" or "Dark something" or "Revenge of". This title says it all.
+Tommy North Loved the title too! Exciting!
+Tommy North Yeah, if it can be simple then go simple. I actually thinkg it sounds exciting.
+SinSe Exactly. There's a playful throwback feel to it
Dark, Rise, Dawn, Return and etc are titles I'm tired of seeing so I agree as well.
Then it's something different so I like it
Black Panther was pushed up not back. they pushed it from 2017 to late 2018 when they got Spidey. now its early 2018
So Black Panther is now on Black History Month, while Captain Marvel is now on International Women's Day.
Either way, I'm glad that Ant-Man is getting a sequel.
Lol
+TheDeemar It makes good business sense. Don't be butthurt about it.
+TheDeemar agreed
I say it's marketing genius.
The movies would get extra attention.
More attention is what many studios would want, 'cuz more attention means more dollar bills.
+Neoxon Where's my Straight White Men day.
Just to clarify black panther was coming out in November 2017 originally, spiderman pushed it to July and ant man pushed it forward to February.
+MrBKainX Exactly! Everybody keeps getting this wrong.
"Flavor of the week" WHO'S LAUGHING NOW ZACK
Black Panther is coming out on my birthday! YES!
@Collider The Black Panther movie was push up from July 6, 2018 to February 16, 2018. Get your facts right. SMH
No ones perfect
it was originally 2017
+TheMemph10 They referenced the original date before it got pushed back after the spiderman announcement so while it wasnt up to date it was an accurate first date so chill out jeez man this isnt a news show this is a "talk show" and the dates are correct on their "news" site collider.com
+James Houston yes it was, but then spider-man solo film came up and it was pushed foward to july 2018 and now pushed back to february 2018
[A]skin[PT]- I think you got mixed up as well. Lol.
Why everyone is saying Black Panther was pushed? It realesed date was July 6, 2018.
yeah now it comes out February 16, 2018 though.
+Abraham Flores because the original date was 2017, then it was July 6 2018, now Feb 2018. Ms. Marvel has been pushed back once again.
+bulletprooff1k originally it was November 2017, now it's February 2018. I'm not sweating over 4 months
SoulBrothaMak no dude it was November 2017 and then moved to July 2018 and now moved again to February 16, 2018.
+Deric James right.... i prettya much meant that the same thing, i just left out the July date, because that's the date it just moved from.
So Ridley Scott must watch the show. I like how he referred to "that alien ship" because he obviously doesn't want to anger Schnepp.
John. I loved that line with Dark Helmet playing with his dolls too. They best part about the character is that Rick is the least intimidating guy in movies and he plays the bad guy. So classic from start to finish.
I will always remember Rick Moranis as Barney Rubble in The Flintstones.
He was a cool Barney Rubbles and worked well with John Goodman & Rosie O'Donnell.
also, the collector has the Ether. so, either he has a big role in guardians or in infinity war. So, IMO we'll get to see much more of him.
The best thing about Rick Moranis playing with the dolls in Space Balls is that all the lines were improv. The guy is a genius!
Ashley! 😻❤️
Great to see you back, I missed you.
idk about a single actor getting nominated for 2 different movies in one category in the same year whether it was lead or supporting but I do remember Steven Soderbergh getting nominated twice in 2000 for Best Director for both Traffic and Erin Brockovich...and then won for Traffic.
Black Panther is going to become the biggest badass in the MCU when he get's introduced in civil war. Can't wait to see it!
Cap's definitely getting his butt handed to him on a vibranium platter
I hope they keep his intelligence and being able show he's as brilliant in his fields as they've done, Tony, Hank, and Bruce. He definitely better match Cap in combat too BP is a beast in various fighting styles.
Great work! That's was a perfect amount of shoulder shimmy for me. I wanna preserve todays shoulder shake in a time capsule!
Spider-Man should team-up with Ant-Man and the Wasp.
The Insect Avengers.
Not a bad concept....
Though I am hoping that tony stark pops up in Spider-Man's solo film. Perhaps to give him Iron Spider :)?
Spiders aren't insects.
+Barkev Chaghlasian You got my ideia, though?
*idea
A Moranis comeback would be amazing!!!! Mount Rushmore of Comedic actors: Steve Martin, Robin Williams, Leslie Neilsen and Rick Moranis!
Alexander Desplat was nominated for Imitation Game and The Grand Budapest Hotel last year.
The casting of Gugu Mbata-Raw is one of those underrated castings no one will talk about, but should. She is endlessly talented and equally as beautiful. Sci-fi is great for diverse casts for some reason and this is proving it all the more.

Thank you John for mentioning Strange Brew that is one of my favorite comedy's of all time.
Kristian and Chris Stuckmann said similar things about Pan. Stuckmann also said that Hook sounded like Bones from Star Trek.
I think Ant-Man and the Wasp it's cool. Specially if the movie actually embraces what the comics did back in the day and portrait it as a superhero couple.

So excited for Ant-man 2 and Wonder Woman, can't wait.
Guys, check out the movie Belle. Gugu Mbatha-raw starred in that and she had a really strong performance there as well.
I'm glad they've included the wasp in the title, it's just that it's extremely clumsy
Plus the Collector still has the Aether from Thor: Dark word. He presumably also has or had an encaged Dark Elf.
When they were replying to the Ant-man 2 question, I was so confused! Haha. I thought maybe they recorded that before the news dropped.
I love the title Ant-Man and the Wasp, but I'm sure they'll change it eventually. Although, I hate that they pushed back Captain Marvel again. That's their first female driven superhero movie and they're just keep pushing back it. Well done Marvel, well done.

I think it will be Ant Man/Wasp
Wonder Woman comes out before Captain Marvel
Wonder Woman comes out before Captain Marvel
Will there be a Collider Heros Episode this week? Love the new channel and keep up the great work!
Rick Moranus has actually pursued his passion which is a music careeer. THis has been common knowledge to music and arts fans. He was always typecast as the same character.
I had a dog back in the day, named him Lewis, after Ricks character in Ghostbusters.
You confused the hell out of me - thought you were shooting out of chrono-order for a minute :D
Gugu Mbatha-Raw was awesome in Belle. You guys should see it.
Its only actors who have that rule. Even directors and producers can get nominated twice - Steven Soderbergh in 2000, Megan Ellison in 2013
I agree with all the things said about Rick Moranis. In the article, he also mentions that he doesn't get social media and does not use it. I think that because of his disconnection from social media, he may not have a full picture of how popular those movies are. I get where he is coming from, just saying maybe he doesn't know how much people love those movies?
This is the best movie talk line up. 👍 when schnepp is on is a close 2nd
Yeah Alexander Desplat got nominated for the Imitation Game and Grand Budapest last year
37:27 that reaction
Actually John Campea had it wrong. Black Panther was originally schedule for July 6, 2018. it was moved UP to February.
Of course it was moved back to July 2018 from it's original November 2017 date to accommodate Spider-Man
John the marvelous dates were already changed after SpiderMan. And Black Panther actually moved up this time it was originally pushed back to July 2018 now up to February. But Captain Marvell just got pushed from july to Nov to march
love when you guys cross over to jedi council on the movie show, it's all connected. feige must be the man behind the curtain
I grow up watching Rick Moranis movies, I miss him in movies.
So far from all the dc movie news it seems alot like they are following the same story structure like how they do it in their comics. They first introduce the hero, he/she is mysterious, then a few issues down the line we get the origin. Other than man of steel It just feels as though "The batman" and "Wonder woman" are going that route.
They did announce Alien 5 a week or so before Chappie was released. I really wouldn't be surprised if it's scrapped.
You guys have to watch Gugu Mbtha-Raw in Belle!!!
Ellis produces comedic gold day in day out. COME TO NZ!!
In a way, it sounds like Wonder Woman will be a mixture of both X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Captain America: The First Avenger.
+Not DC enough (Oisín McMahon)
Are you talking about the montage?
Yeah, it was cool. It's what director Gavin Hood wanted X-Men Origins: Wolverine to be -- to tell Wolverine's story by showing the audience what his days in war were like and how he struggled to cope with it. Though Fox thought that showing the audience how Wolverine struggled with PTSD during his time in war would be too depressing.

notice how the episodes are 2 times as long with John Campea? really shows how long his epic rants are
Gugu Mbatha-Raw was the lead in Belle. She was brillant
What about the OTHER 3 un-named movies, Marvel announced too?

Is the Black Panther being moved to February a sign of the movie's quality or are we seeing the summer months being pushed even further forward?
Love the show, but a correction at the beginning. Black Panther was actually moved up to February 2018, as it was previously slated for July 2018. And I think it's a really great idea opening this on Black History Month.
Hey John, The Engineers were a new species of aliens introduced in Prometheus. They are possibly the travelers that were mentioned.
You guys mentioned Hook. What about the 2003 live action Peter Pan. Did any of you like that film?
i was mind fuked for a split second on the ant man 2 mail bag question...well played guys..well played!
Hey real quick why do the smaller videos not pop up on the feed
A. Despla or whatever his name is was nominated for his score I think last year. But not for actors...
49:50 - Alexander Desplat last year got nominated twice in the same category
Actually, and I can't believe y'all didn't know this, they moved UP the release date for BLACK PANTHER with this new update, which is better. I liked antman but I wouldn't say it was as amazing as everyone else is saying it is
my thoughts exactly. It was decent
I think everyone was expecting it to be a grand spectacle (having just come off of an event film) and it just wasn't. I think marvel should've waited until like August, September, or even October
I liked it way more than AoU.
+HolyHell not really
Gotta agree with Kristian, love the title Ant-Man and The Wasp. I'm so happy this got a sequel.
Did they say why we didn't have Collider heroes on Tuesday?
Ant-Man actually hasn't passed Thor domestically or worldwide. It's about $40 million behind worldwide, but has a shot to get there with China. However, it's out of steam domestically, and will fall short, even though it's less than $3 million behind. It has done better than the first Cap and The Incredible Hulk though.
i saw someone pitch the BEST title for the spaceballs sequel...Spaceballs 3: The Search for Spaceballs 2
Spaceballs 2-The Quest for more Money.
+Lord Rodrik Forrester yes, thats the title from the 1st one, this was just a great original idea
+Anon Amarth It should only come out on VHS.
It's actually Spaceballs 3 : The search for 2
Alexandre Desplat just this last year was nominated twice for Best Original Score (Grand Budapest and Imitation Game). So it isn't true outside of the acting fields.

I saw it this past Saturday and I thought it okay. The story was their but wasn't executed properly. But I loved the VFX.
You have the wrong dates, Campea. The dates you mentioned were the original dates Marvel announced before the Spider-Man movie was announced
Alexandre Desplats got nominated twice in the same category last year.
John, Black Panther and Captain Marvel had already been moved thanks to spiderman. so the new dates are different when compared. Black Panther MOVED UP to february, and Captain Marvel only moved back 4 months
No! Thor 3 is still coming out Nov 3, 2017. Black Panther moved up a few months, while Captain Marvel moved back a few months into 2019.
Ant-Man 2 took Black Panther's slot in July 2018, moving it up to March.
Captain Marvel was moved to early 2019 to avoid having 4 Marvel movies in 1 year.
As I'm sure someone has already commented, but for those like me who are too lazy to scroll down, you guys are right, an actor/actress cannot be nominated twice in the same category in the same year. Antman, Wasp Friendship is magic....Ponies do i see in the foreseeable future.
what about marvel having release dates anounced for 2020?
Gugu was apparently great in the movie Belle as well.
"In the event that two achievements by an actor or actress receive sufficient votes to be nominated in the same category, only one shall be nominated using the preferential tabulation process and such other allied procedures as may be necessary to achieve that result" From the Oscar rule book.
what about the 3 marvel movies that are coming in 2020?(every 3 mountains)
I'm with Kristian on this one. Definitely intentional, and fits the image they've built with the first film.
Was Jeff Daniels really in The Martian that much? I didn't think much of his performance.
They should called it "THE WASP (and ant-man)". It works with the dynamics of the two.
