Warning, this will be long. Final Fantasy IV was the first rpg I ever played, this was back when it was Final Fantasy II on snes. I had never played a story driven game like that before. It introduced me to both RPG and JRPGs. I went off video games for several years and had no plans on starting up. I hadn’t even thought about video games for awhile. I had a friend who was older and a manager at what would become a GameStop. He kept telling me about a game I just had to try and how great it was. I kept telling him I wasn’t interested in games anymore but I finally caved. He loaned me a copy of Final Fantasy VII. I played it on my half-sibling’s ps1 over the weekend. Come Monday when I returned what he loaned me, I bought my own ps1 and a copy of FFVII. Final Fantasy XIV was the 2nd mmo I ever played with the first being DC universe online. DCUO didn’t hold my attention for more than a few months. I’m very introverted and was afraid of having to deal with PvPers attacking and bullying new players, so I didn’t want to deal with it. I started FFXIV in 2014 and still play multiple times a week, it has helped get me through some really hard times and adjust to real life situations. So much so that I wish there was a way to email the developers and tell them what it’s done for me but I haven’t found a way. Even so it is my favorite game. Those 3 will always have a special place in my heart and will always be the point of comparison whenever I try something new. I constantly recommend them to anyone who wants to try out final fantasy.
Favorite battle system: 13-3, 10, 5 Best characters 9, 7, 10 Best ost: 8, 13, 10 Best main protagonist: 9 Best story 10, 7, 6 Best presentation 13, 8, 10
I still remember playing the PC version of VII as a teenager (it came in that unmistakable trapezoidal case) and being affected by the death of Aerith - it's of course a meme now, but she was/is an immensely likable character. I have yet to play IX, even all these years later, have to get around to that sometime.
The FF7 character models on the over world and most of the game are just the same as any of the NES/SNES ff games. It’s an art style, not just bad graphics. It’s just 3d models instead of 2d pixel art. The actual character designs are shown in the battle screen. Also, the backgrounds are some of the best in the series, and the music is also what makes it great. It’s cool how every fan has their own preferences, and there are so many ff games
I got IX for my 9th bday when it was released and I remember crying from his story as well and I LOVE the junction system in VIII I dont understand why it gets the hate it does.
Woah. When I heard "I don't like 7" my brain short circuited haha. Does not compute but I'm intrigued so let's hear it... Different strokes and all. My tops 7, 6 & 10. I also like 8 and 12 and recently started playing 9 again because I was not into it as a kid after playing 7 and 8 then getting the more whimsical style. I am actually digging it now tho.
THANK YOU!! Aeris(Aerith) was never meant to be important outside being a catalyst. SO MANY Simps happy Cloud was attractive to her for reminding her of Zack.
I always love hearing someone that clearly loves Final Fantasy as much as I do talk about how they feel about different games in the series. You can probably guess which one is my favorite based on my avatar, lol. We don't totally agree on which ones we like more, but I think it's fun to hear different opinions about which games you love and which ones you think kind of suck. It'd be boring as shit if we all had the same opinions! lol
That's such a hard question, I feel like you have to break it up into era's, I-III, IV-VI, than the 3D games from VII-XIII, I put XV in it's own category since its open world and I haven't finished XVI yet, just feels so linear, almost like XIII. My fav of all time is prob either V or IX, great video!
Finally! Someone who doesn't look at FF7 with rose tinted glasses! Was it revolutionary for the series? Sure, but I totally agree with the graphics that didn't aged well at all! I mean, your characters look like a geometry class, lol! My favorite one is FF8, then 10, then 9. But I haven't played all of them yet, so I also agree that lists change as we play more games! I had a really solid Top 10 games for years until the PS4 with The Witcher 3. That modern game cracked my Top 10 after it hadn't moved for almost 20 years! This was probably the calmer I've seen you in a video so far, lol! I hope you'll do other ones like these as I like to hear other people's opinions about hot takes! Great video and keep up the good work!
Didn't really like 7 either, but I loved the nostalgia. I remember reading the Playstation magainze every single day until I was able to get my hands on a Playstation. I was so astounded by the jump from pixels to 3D and its at-that-time-realistic backgrounds. It had a spread of Midgar in its glory in high resolution, and I scanned the hell out of every pixel that could be printed. And I probably watched the intro more than I can count. Definitely overhyped myself. FF7 felt like a chore at times especially after the first half. Cloud was a bit shallow & flat for a FF character. And Aerith, yes she's a bit annoying. Definitely not a Terra or Celes quality character.
The "chibi" world map models aren't great, but the in-battle models are pretty good (for the Playstation anyway), and the pre-rendered backgrounds were quite nice at the time.
I'm going to be holding the most unpopular opinions, but Final Fantasy II sits at my top spot, followed by XV and XII (original PS2 version). The freedom to customize your party how you want, along with how I feel the stories of these games being either never fully realized or led with support characters when most other FF games revolve around being the main character, resonates with me as I am an introverted person that really feels like the stories of these games could have been told much better than they currently are. If IX got a remake, people may not enjoy the changes made to the story they're fond of, but if II got remade, it would only get better due to already having a low bar set for itself.
OMFG!!!😮 You know? The job system in FFV... Once you've mastered a job, the freelancer gains the stats boost from that job. If you had mastered every job with every characters, reverting to the freelancer class would probably have triggered Exdeath to apologize and cry to is mom...
I would recommend checking out persona for a nice rpg. Metaphor is my favorite from those producers. I love the wall collection. Do you have monster rancher? I've been binging another channel that is almost entirely monster rancher. Azure dreams, saga frontier, and the character creator mode for DragonBall gt final bout 😅 (one of the first dragon ball games with rpg elements) on a serious note, check out xenogears. It was planned as a potential final fantasy 7. This is even alluded to when cloud is suffering from Mako poisoning. He will say *taken..angels...singing...voices.....xeno..gears..* have a good day!
I am playing FF6 Pixel Remaster at the moment. I have never played any of the 2D games. Only a couple of hours in and I have to admit, I am struggling to enjoy it. The soundtrack is great, but even just the battles, with the visuals. I dunno, I will keep going. I really want to try the 2D games as they are held in such high regard!
Haven't played any of them but I really enjoyed your descriptions of them. Love that shirt! I'm a big fan of Ape Escape and PaRappa the Rapper so I gotta get that shirt too.
My favorite Final Fantasy games of all time are IV, VI, VII, VIII and X. I do know some people find the battle system in VII to be too slow or strange, but I find it has a amazing story to it and I love the characters especially Cloud, Tifa, Red XIII and Vincent. The series overall is great, I love it, as a matter of fact I started a playthrough of VI again and am also watching livestreams on the game too lately. Its been fun.
Me being an Aerith fan. 😅 FF4 was my first FF too! My top FF's are: 1. FF12 2. Crisis Core 3. FF4 4. FF8 5. FF9 Currently on a quest to get the Platinum Trophy in every Final Fantasy game. XD
I’ve heard a lot of people say the first FF game you play is your favorite. Does that ring true for you? Is IX your fav FF game because it was your first?
Ayo DeeGee is STACKED!

Final Fantasy 4 will always be my favorite in the franchise. The story, the characters, the music. ❤️❤️❤️
It does have one of the saddest storyline
Such an amazing game
Warning, this will be long.

LOL! I actually watched you beat FF5 on twitch. I didn't even realize you were the same person since your hair changed. sick shirt btw
LOL! That was definitely one hell of a ride! 🤣 Thanks!

IX is my brother and I’s favorite too. I could go on and on. 2001. I was 11. Such good times 😊
IX is pure bliss! ..... except the card game....
Hey dee I have both ps4 versions of final fantasy games 7 and 15. I love visual and sound even music.

Oooh! So great game for the final fantasy franchise 👍🏼🙂❤️
12 is my personal favorite. I'm playing through FF10 right now and Ill likely play 9 or 13 next.
I still need to play FF12!
OMFG!!!😮

Final fantasy the zodiac age is a favorite here
FF 9 is probably my favorite of the PS1 era too. The artwork was amazing.
Agreed!
1 word, Gunblades 🤣

The best final fantasy game
4 + 3 = tactics
Ff7, (i currentlynprefer remakes over original, I was 17 when it came out) and Technically Secret of Mana was a FF spin off.
8, 6 and 14 are my favorite ones.
Me being an Aerith fan. 😅
FF4 was my first FF too! My top FF's are:
1. FF12
2. Crisis Core
3. FF4
4. FF8
5. FF9
Currently on a quest to get the Platinum Trophy in every Final Fantasy game. XD
Been a long time i played FF8.
Southern rpg fan. We meet again. 😅
Wishing you a bright and beautiful Tuesday morning! May today be the beginning of a successful and fulfilling week.DeeGee 🌞 ✨️ 😊 💛 ☺️ 💕
You get a huge amount points for your passion for the FF series. But... VII is the king 😉
Not a fan of FF7. I even tried the remake and it still didn’t change my mind about it.
FF9 is easily my favorite and Steiner is so under rated in my opinion. Vivi is my son and I will protect him forever! Great video!
Hell yeah!
RUclips recommended your video, so I checked it out. Made me sad all the FF7 hate. lol.
Yeah, I sadly never could get into FF7 like I did FF8 and FF9. Even tried the FF7 remake and didn’t change my mind I’m afraid. 😅
@@DeeGee2009 we all like different things. I really liked eight and nine too. Nine is a beautiful game.
We must clone this woman and her way of thinking to save the human race 😂
You don't like 7? You've never mentioned it 😅
I don't.
I sub because u are pretty
I’ve heard a lot of people say the first FF game you play is your favorite. Does that ring true for you? Is IX your fav FF game because it was your first?
No, since FF4 was the first one I played. That’s number 5 on my list. 😅
Is she Texan? Or Australian? Its so hard to tell
Neither. 🤣 I am southern though.
