Following up after a year of use with two of these wonderful brackets installed on my Sony a7Rii full time and occasionally on my a7ii. Upon recently removing the RRS L bracket on my Sony a7Rii for cleaning, I found small contact marks in the coating of the camera body just below the small trash can button on the rear of the camera and under the lens release button on the front of the unit where the bracket makes contact. This appears to be predominately surface marring of the black coating, with only a very tiny spot/spec worn down to the metal. I'm pretty confident that I have remedied the problem by placing two very small pieces of black electrical tape on the camera body where I found these contact marks and reinstalling the bracket. The tape is barely visible under the bracket once it's installed and should protect the body from further wear. I usually have a leather half-case on my Sony a7ii, but have used my second RRS L bracket with this camera several times over the past year and observed much lighter contact wear in the same areas as my Sony a7Rii. This suggests that the problem may be universal with these two camera bodies, could get progressively worse with use, and should be checked by owners using the RRS L bracket hardware. I'm very protective of my gear, but consider this an acceptable price to pay for the upside of the bracket, especially with the electrical tape fix. However, I wanted to alert those using it and suggest that you check your camera bodies for any contact wear and consider applying a little electrical tape to the areas affected if you have any.

Great video! I just purchased an A7Rii along with the RRS L bracket in large part because of your video! You really seem to love it, and I'm sure you love the camera too. I'm a new subscriber and am gonna look on your site for A7Rii videos. Thanks again.

Great review Mason. About to pull the trigger on this L bracket but had to ask. Since the review, have you noticed any rubbing from the RRS L-plate on your camera body? This is my main concern and appreciate the follow-up! Robert

+Robert Sherrow No rubbing whatsoever. I doubt there is a better-fitting L bracket. I'm very happy with mine.

+Mason Marsh Your review sold me Mason and will be getting mine on Monday. Used a knock-off on my Sony A6000 and have been happy with it, but the body is plastic and much lighter. I did not want to take any chances with my new a7Rii, especially with the extra weight and painted finish. Appreciate you taking the time to post this informative video!

+Robert Sherrow After having the RRS L-plate on my Sony A7rii for two months, I'm buying another for my new A7ii. Beautiful fit, excellent construction, and great performance in the field. Thanks again for the review Mason.
