Thank you. I’ve mentioned several times before. I don’t share flash power because unless you’re using the exact same equipment on the same exact day and location and time and distance from subject, then flash power doesn’t matter. Yours will vary from mine.

But the reason for the question being: Is the AD300 enough for the distance we see there or would you really need to get an AD600 for such an outdoor shoot? So far I've only done indoor with flash, but would like to go out and do some stuff in summer.
@trueatfalse I don’t give power settings for the flash because it will always vary, even if using the same as me. As for the 300. It would work great in this setting. You just may be able to use it at midday or when the sun is super bright.

To me it looks like you are using the strobe in manual mode, I would say maybe 1/8 or 1/16th power, no matter what these images are awesome SOOC. Love your work Thanks Mark from Australia
fantastic as always. something i was wondering as im looking to start some portrait photography with flash.... white balance... are you set in auto, sun, shade, or flash to achieve these looks esp the last set with the tones you achieved? thanks...i really enjoy your content
@@J.Allen_Photography thanks for the quick response. Yeah I always shoot raw myself and do edit in post. But it helps to have it "close" and then the adjustments are easier. I figure auto was generally what you shot, just wasnt sure. thanks again and keep up the great vids good sir !! 😁

Slight off the topic question - I noticed your shutter speed was always around 500-800. With the flash do you always, what I have to assume use high speed synch outdoors rather than reducing the flash power or is there some other magic in using those faster shutter speeds? Hey Jason, i am also invested in godox, but it is such a pain in the a'"'§ to know the outputs, in the following shoots of your vids, is it possible to put in the output power of the flashes aswell ? greetings from belgium.
It’s a good question. However. I don’t put the flash power because it’s all relative to so many variables. Like, if you have a smaller softbox, if it’s closer or further to the model, if you have the grid, what lenses, what is the ambient like. So many variables and unless we are literally shooting together, the flash power is really irrelevant.
Hey Jason! A question I keep asking myself is how do you match the color temperature of your flash with the sunset light when shooting portrait? I have tried it a few times with my 5500k flash and it didn't look right. Do you have any tips on that? Thanks🙏

I shoot in raw and AWB. I adjust my white balance in post!

@@vacanechaser definitely! Yeah. I try best to get it as close to what I want in camera as well! So much faster to edit that way also!

I use HSS. I PROBABLY should mention it more often, but yes. That is how I do it.

Yes and most often I have the grid on.
How did you get such warm tones on such a gray looking day? Did you gel the light, custom white balance or adjusted in post?
Just the strobe!
I always shoot raw with AWB. I just my white balance in post to get the look needed. I always add a little extra Warmth in post also.

I’ll be very honest with you.
I set my flash power and shoot raw with auto WB.
I adjust my temperature in post and have never had any real issues.

Yes they are fully body photos.
