After 1 year I can't believe this car has only 35/44 HP! For sure it is a mistake somewhere, most probably the car has 135/144 HP, not 35/44...Initially, when I saw a car with 44 HP having a speed limiter I started to laugh...I was thinking what's the purpose? Well, now I know. Light- weight vehicles are the best!
@@BatteryLife Thanks! Last summer I ordered a second one as I constantly fight with my wife for the first one. This car give us a peace of mind feeling. It's so basic, yet so fair! Including the government subsidies the entire car gets cheaper than it's traction battery. For the first 2 years since the model was launched the devaluation was negative, in other words, second hand cars were sold 25-30% more expensive than new ones because the waiting time is quite long. How to not love a car like this! And you save on speeding fines, too...before exceeding the speed limit you reach your destination
This is a great car to own as a second ev to use for city and the suburbs plus its’ size can let you carry stuff and groceries. The first ev could be a tesla model 3 to use it for trips as well.
I've now watche the video to the point 7;50. Quite a blast of sarcasm for the starters :D You gotta understand what you are driving. It's a basic small city car, never meant to be used on autobahn or on highways. It's an urban car to move from end to end of city area. Nothing more. And you do not need more for that, there's heater, AC and central lock for the doors. It looks like you've not driven the original Dacias from the 2010 huh? :D Nothing new to the door sounds, it's just they do not have ANY sound proofing. They tried to make the vehicle light as they could, and affordable as well. I would like to lease one, but those are not available at all here at Finland. At least, for now. I live near a bigger city and got a 17 km travel to work so this vehicle would suffice for that. Cheers from Finland! I'm now on my Dacia Duster 4x4 Diesel #3... ;)
20K€ is not cheap I know that a few countries are giving discounts that help but that base price is 2K€ more than the Nero ICE with all the nice options.
Exactly! 21k for an awful city car with 20s of 0-100 time and 125km/h top speed (seriously, getting 1970s vibes here) and less than 150km of highway range that takes forever to charge is NOT cheap! I'm so fed up with all these people saying that these terrible cars priced at 20-30k are cheap. It's as if everyone suddenly got amnesia and forgot what a NORMAL citycar price is. For 15k you can buy a mid spec Renault Clio with the 100HP turbo LPG engine which is a million times nicer in every single way, or if you really want a barebones cheap car you can buy a base model 65HP Dacia Sandero for 8-9k and it will still smoke this pos in both usability and performance. Also being a "city car" means a small and less refined car that's maybe a bit louder and less comfortable at motorway speed, not that you should expect it to be *totally useless* outside of the city.
@@demoniack81 You probably fail to realize that depending on the country you are in, you pay less tax on electrical cars, electricity is cheaper and basically you have 0 maintenance. You must be delusional to buy a WW Up which is more expensive than the Dacia Spring.
The Dacia Spring's main problem is it's diminutive size. It's even smaller and narrower than a Fiat 500, so not so good for carrying a passenger. But, if you could make the Spring work for you, it could well be cheaper than using public transport....
Make this test on your car with temperature selector. Take a thermometer inside your car and see how it works. What does it even mean to select a temperature while manually setting the fans?
I'd like to have this hot vs cold control for the air coming from the vents in the ID.3. Most of the time I mainly benefit from the breeze from the vents rather than the ambient temperature so would be great to have this control rather than (or in addition to) a cabin temperature based one
A good choice for someone that wants a dedicated city commuter that is tethered to home charging. Not practical for road trips. I can see a lot of 2 car families buying this and their second care is ICE or hybrid for longer trips. More manufacturers need to start offering cars that are stripped down and affordable...EV or ICE.
Great fun video and nice little EV to have as a second or even third car (providing one can justify owning them; such as having a large family and wanting to teach young ones how to drive, charge and maintain EVs, etc).
This is _really_ basic, but (barely) good enough for grocery runs, even for not too long commutes. Strange: reversing camera and (presumably) satnav, but no light in the trunk or adjustable steering wheel.
@@BatteryLife Yeah, I would also take the Twingo over this, just for the 22kW AC charger. Either way I think Renault has stopped taking orders for both cars in Germany at the moment.
If you want test a range of a car at a certain speed. You have to drive on the highway at a constant speed. Otherwise you cannot compare different cars.
The tested car with blues trim is for carsharing and the setting is different...the regen is Below 80km /h ...in the normal Orange trim car the regen is betwen 125 to 15 km/h .
Yes, but it is because ncap has evolved just before the test, many 4 or 5 starts cars would have 0 or 1 star with the new test. The new Zoé received a 0 star score, while the Spring has just 1 star. It is just because ncap now includes many driving assistances in the score, assistances that are not so common on small cars. So I guess Renault/Dacia will just have to add a few assistances. And honestly, spending money on a cruse control for a car that will probably never do a long trip, is not so smart. Too bad cars are not loosing stars when they are not zero emission, because air pollution kills 400 000 people just in Europe and every year, according to the WHO, not to mention climate change.
Not words show the truth, but facts shows that. So, BUY ONE and use daily for one year, if is so good as you said.. for that price (which is NOT.. for that amount of money anyone could buy a WAAAAAAAAAY better ICE car, few years old.. huge better in any mean possible)
What you didn’t observed is: if someone from back will leave window open you have to press the same button to rise up the window. You don’t have 4 window buttons on drivers door. Beside that if you use AC or ECO you don’t have 45 hp. You will have only 30hp.

For sure it is a mistake somewhere, most probably the car has 135/144 HP, not 35/44...Initially, when I saw a car with 44 HP having a speed limiter I started to laugh...I was thinking what's the purpose? Well, now I know. Light- weight vehicles are the best!
Glad you enjoy it. Have fun!
I liked this one. Driving should be fun, you had fun. Nice.
Dacia is doing great. Also with the new jogger. The cheapest largest 7 seater suv/mpv . Even cheaper than a vw up
You can see it as what lada was in the 80s with the 1200s a cheap car with nothing on it. But people bought it
I've now watche the video to the point 7;50. Quite a blast of sarcasm for the starters :D
You gotta understand what you are driving.
@@demoniack81 In Ireland 90% of roads have 80km or 100km limit. Motorways are 120km so why isn't it fast enough.?
@@peterhandy2551 because I don't live in Ireland.
Love your optimism no room in the backseat uuuuh electric windows and a handle 😂😂😂😂👍
I have to drive for 870km in two days with my Spring and i am so stressed 😬🥴
You really remind me of Bjorn Nyland (TeslaBjorn) 😁 Nice video , keep up the good work 👏
I'd like to have this hot vs cold control for the air coming from the vents in the ID.3.
Great review as always...I think the doors sounded great 🤔 but of course, that was on my terrible built
In mobile speaker 😀
Electric windows, damn!
Nice, you managed to put your hands on it :)
video is perfect :)
This is _really_ basic, but (barely) good enough for grocery runs, even for not too long commutes.
Strange: reversing camera and (presumably) satnav, but no light in the trunk or adjustable steering wheel.
As owner of Seat Mii I can say Dacia is too much shitty... Would better choose mine.
It wash fun video. :D
Great product. Good price city car with highway capability for shorter trips.
I would als love to have one...am in uganda
i will do groceries and act normal in this one ! thanks for the video
Have you seen the crash test?
Already ordered one
This is a simple car for a guy that doesn’t base his ego on his car.
I don't think it has to do with that. It is a simple car that is not that cheap. Just spend a bit more on a Twingo and get way more for your money
@@BatteryLife Yeah, I would also take the Twingo over this, just for the 22kW AC charger. Either way I think Renault has stopped taking orders for both cars in Germany at the moment.
Thanks for review. Are your incentives going to be reduced to pay for military spending and gas?
No idea.. They go down in 2023.
Germany; let's test a citycar on the autobahn!
If you want test a range of a car at a certain speed. You have to drive on the highway at a constant speed. Otherwise you cannot compare different cars.
I would prefer a second-hand Renault Zoe instead.
22 kW charging on AC, more power and nicer design (my opinion).
Exactly my thought. Only benefit would be the warranty of a new car, otherwise a Zoe seems better overall.
Zoe is a larger car too.....
@@Brian-om2hh define larger. the zoe is small as fck xD
Amazing review! Thanks! :)
Too low range for me but otherwise I wouldn't mind.👍
Every review I seen about this car the person testing it was tall
If you call 6 feet tall, then yes ;)
Or the car is really small :))
Turtle mode.. did battery maybe overheat?
I guess the motor
after fast charging battery was already heated up a bit, I think.
4:16 Back up camera - luxury
There must be regen when releasing the accelerator, I have seen it in several other videos.
Maybe it's not working at those insane speeds.
The tested car with blues trim is for carsharing and the setting is different...the regen is Below 80km /h ...in the normal Orange trim car the regen is betwen 125 to 15 km/h .
11:36 the word you are looking for is "dangle"
still dont get it why this car has CCS instead of 22kw AC.
22kW AC is expensive because it needs a powerful onboard charger. CCS is basicaly a plug connected straight to the battery.
@@akacicaa i would no one recommend buying / renting this car while there are still some leasing offers for vw up 32 kwh. or kona 36 kwh for 99€.
Just don’t mention the euro ncap safety score!
That is true with the button. Are you sure with the AC and the heat?
Of course not. The airco is not driven by the electric motor of the drive train. It has its own electric motor.
@@BatteryLife I’m from Romania and I know a lot of people who own this car and all of them told me about lack of power when they use Eco mode or use AC
A car half of the price of a Zoe. Whats not to like. Please come to the U.K.
I think there is regen in eco mode.
the seats are not in tissue so even in short drive you do sweat so two hours you get soaked . not enough wight on front thats why stearing is not very stable , it should be the opposite !
I can't believe all these people criticising the car in the comment section who are quite obviously never going to be the target audience for this car and never was even going to consider it. Just a waste of time commenting.
Car is great.
car is good for people who want to drive electric and in the city. But my god I rather buy a 12k second hand car benzine or diesel than this. I find that 0-100 time of plus 20s really dangerous. way way wayyy to slow.
Can you drive from Rotterdam to Berlin in this car? And how long will it takes. ? I am a relaxed driver
A year
@@BatteryLife ah than my electric bicycle is faster
A Better Routeplanner
Probably Dacia planned this car for CITY use and short commutes
Correct, but the people using it may be driving differently some times.
11:00 Dacia is able to charge max 30 kW. It is waste of money when you use Ionity HPC instead cheaper 50kW fast charger ;)
For me it is cheaper
@@BatteryLife good for you :D i have no monthly plan... we have literally 1 Ionity charger in Slovakia
well, when you drive in ECO mode you also have more recuperation, I mean.
But even less power. Bad choice.
19:59 0 - 100 km/h in 20 seconds. Oh god.
Yea, but to be fair it's not much worse than my base Aygo, an my Aygo can't go faster than 110 unless it's downhill and downwind. That said, new Aygo is 14k not 21k.
what is the battery pack voltage ?
You can see it on the Ionity screen
240V
Amazing car.
To bad we wont see this car in the U.S.
The whole review sounds like you forgot the feeling of driving eup :D all the stuff you mentioned is the same or worse it eup, including the plastics, space, ignition etc :D
EUp drives better, double the power, but same charging, similar range
So, is it better than the twingo?
No
@@BatteryLife damn!
Vreau sa va impartasesc experienta mea cu Dacia Spring. Am primit-o in
decembrie !
Viata si-a urmat cursul, masina a ajuns in
reprezentanta Dacia cu promisiunea ca va fi reparata. Asta inainte de
sarbatoare nasterii domnului de anul trecut (nu am relatii stranse cu
domnul, dar am folosit pretextul pentru a localiza actiunea in timp). A
trecut covidul, a venit razboiul iar masina mea tot in REPREZENTANTA
Did I see AC? AC in the bare base model, not too shabby.
AC is 22kW
22kW cooling will for sure make the car nice and cool in a hot summer....
@@BatteryLife ich glaube er meint die Klimanalage!
@@BatteryLife AC is 7kw unfortunately...
Charge at home and go shopping. You can't use it with that chargespeed, it will take forever. Drive for 1h and charge for 2h...
hmm... what did give you an idea that testing range of city car on autobahn is a good idea?
Because it is done at a constant speed. Hard to do in the city. And only this way you can compare it to other cars.
And people who buy this, will not just drive in the city. Some people want to know how far they can get.
I would not call that price amazing. Remember prices of this class of cars a couple of years ago? Pepperidge farm remembers.
I get the feeling that we on youtube get served the dregs where as all the patrions get great content and instant news. Not sure why I get to watch all the adverts just to get seconds. It is a different way to build subs.
What adverts? The 5 seconds of "in frame" pop ups? Patrons and Channel members support me in an extra way, so they get early access and extra info.
Patrons and members pay monthly to support me and they still get the same ads on RUclips as you.
Range is 175 kph or 147 mph
I like this car but not at the price they are asking (excluding any government incentives) - look at what they ask in non-European markets for essentially the same car. We have been waiting to see if they will offer a right-hand drive version for the UK/Japan/Australia - I would say, don't bother.
So you took what's obviously a city car on the motorway..... Smart!
But I drove country road speed and people that buy a car may possibly drive some highway too.
You are also smart 😂😉
@@BatteryLife look , don't get me wrong , I don't want to offend in any way shape or form , but that's obviously a city car , so it makes no sense to to throw it on a motorway. All I'm saying is that your test is inconclusive at best. Is just a case of using the wrong tool for the job
The Toyota Yaris, for example, is also a city car. It can still drive longer distances and on the highway if needed. Here in Finland, very few people drive in the city only.
Too small for passengers in the back, why the f do they cut on empty space? To save 10 cm of structure? It's a driver only car basically. Or for children only in the back.
trop cool ^^
1 Euroncap star. For me this is enough to never even consider this car
Very few commutes 200km
