John Riggs: RIGG'd Games Theres a game called Shiren the wanderer that is one of the few RPGs on the system and its great! Ive played through quite a bit of it in Japanese, but I have seen a English patch online. never tested it though.
John Riggs: RIGG'd Games Also, If there is an English patch for Custom Robo, that game is great is well. B Damen Battle Phoenix is also a phenomenal game that never left Japan.
John Riggs: RIGG'd Games Would you like to trade? I have a PS1 game called Lost Vikings 2, I come from the UK, so would that be a problem with postage? I hope you reply, I'd like a ps1 game that is PAL compatible. Thanks!
This is something I read about *Doubutsu no Mori* (Animal Forest/ Animal Crossing 64) The N64 version of this game includes a real-time clock chip inside the cartridge. It's located at the bottom left of the board, labeled RTCK-NUS. No other games used this chip.

There is a internal clock into the cartrige for animal crossing. This is why it crashed, exactly what you was thinking :)
I don't think this will be possible. This was created specificly for Animal Crossing because the game was designed for the 64DD which had a internal clock. They just changed it to a simple cartrige with this system because of the failure of the 64DD.
Somebody made the game or proto /beta or it's fake Animal Forest / Animal Crossing Nintendo 64 Repro English Translation, N64 repro img0.etsystatic.com/142/0/12328334/il_340x270.1160022322_m9i6.jpg

Maybe they used an original one ? After all, it is maybe possible to reproduce the internal clock, and this will be cool :D; But i don't really know how without using an original. An expert, please ? :3
Great videos, by the way. Could you make a video on how to make N64 boxes, and manuals? What printer you use, cardboard and paper type? I saved all my N64 boxes and manuals as a 6 or 8 year old kid, but my parents lost them when we moved. Now at 27, I've still never gotten over it, and buying all real ones would be about $1000 for my collection.
Good stuff! Quick correction, though, No Mercy rom hacks will work, just not gameshark and hi-res texture projects. I'm one of the heads of the No Mercy scene and we'll be having something fun in store for people soon that can go directly onto a cart.
I don't necessarily have a problem with N64 reproductions. If people have the means to be able to put rom hacks or translated N64 games onto an actual physical cartridge that never had a proper regional release. However with any type of hobby you'll always get those people that will try to take advantage of it and I worry if greedy assholes will use tactics like this to make counterfeit North American N64 games and try to pass them off as originals. Those are always my biggest fears when it comes to reproduction carts but I know the people who would do something like this are a very small minority when most people would use the technology for beneficial uses. I guess people just need to learn to separate the good from the bad and be wary when buying things when they can be counterfeited so easily.
This kind of videos are awesome man, great RUclips Channel, you are teaching me a lot . I just got a smash bros n64 cart back to life Placing the cic and rom on a donnor cart, and all of your Nes snes and n64 videos were the learning and inspiración source, big thank you john.
I had no idea there was a world of No Mercy mods out there. It is one of my favorite games of all time and need to download it and some mods to see if it works on my homebrewed Wii.
Okay so this may have already been asked or looked into but with the way tech is today vs. 1997 could you put FF7 on a N64 cart? I feel it would be possible now that memory may not be an issue but I'm sure there are a lot of other factors that might get in the way to be worked around
Both the GameCube and SNES use a Crystal Oscillator Clock on the systems mobo itself. It would probably be a pretty daunting task to try to recreate that on a N64 though (not sure, but i dont think it does). Thats pretty awesome though!
Very cool.Questions #1 does it come with instructions? #2 are the cart Shell's the same as regular 64 carts? & #3 Can I burn me a copy of Killer Instinct Gold? Ive been jonzin to play me some Killer Instinct Gold for a while now.🤗
That looks great, been watching a few of your videos and now I'm a subscriber! Thank you for your fantastic videos, keep up the great work! Collecting retro games in the UK is a harder!
Excellent demonstration video. That means you could download N64 titles that wasn't released in America (I wouldn't know how many Nintendo 64 games that wasn't released in America).
started watching this and when you said you need the board, CIC and the programmer, I was thinking "this is going to cost a fortune!"....was shocked to hear you say its less than $100
I'd prefer this way over a flash cart because having easy access to hundreds of games on one cart means I end up not putting as much effort into each game.
Hey john can you do. A video on making reproduction carts such as Goldfinger 64 with the retro stage programmer. I have read you can only play it on the ever drive. However I see people have already made these reproduction carts such as banjo dreamie. Goldfinger 64 , goldeneye x and other home brew games that I am unsure of the cic chip code on these home brewed games.
Sorta off topic but are those cartridge shells from retrostage? Are they pretty high quality? My kirby and the crystal shards is all cracked and that purple shell would be very fitting lol
You must use the Nintendo 64 PCB Board made by Retro Stage? or is there any way to use the original cards ?? for example: delete a card with Mario Kart 64 (CIC-6102) EEPROM (4 Kbits) and put in Super Mario 64 (CIC-6102) EEPROM (4 Kbits) Could it be ??
And its all thanks to you! love the channel keep up the good work ! being from the UK it took me a while to source new pcbs, but Ive found a great place based in France retroelectronik.com/en/ so anyone from europe needing boards I can fully recommend them.
Hello, unfortunately my English is not that good but I have a question? Is it possible to put Gameboy or Gameboy Color games on a Nintendo 64 cartridge and then play them on the Nintendo 64? Or put a Game Cube game as an emulator and ROM on the N64 cartridge and then play it?
Glad you mentioned the No Mercy mods not working on this. I've been wanting to play the "WWF Legends" mod forever... do you think the mods would work on a rapberry pi?
Hey John, I bought the retroblaster and a bunch of boards with extra chip 5 so that I could make reproductions of Conkers Bad Fur Day. My brother wanted one as a graduation present, and I thought I'd give the rest to friends. Strange thing though, I can't seem to save Conkers onto retrostage's board. I can put other games on there, but I always get an error with Conkers. You said in your video that you can put any regular n64 game on one of these things, so I thought I'd come to you for advice on how to do this with Conkers. I hope you're doing well.
How would someone go about coding there own games? I've been watching Code monkeys a lot and I want to try programming's on my own games for fun is there a way to get a program on your computer that will show you what it looks like as you're making it similar to xcode for making apps
Would be nice if they had one that was non-reflashable though so you could just make a new game and ship it and have a little bit of a reduced price in bulk purchasing...
this method is ok, but what if the person wanted to label the cart and leave it on there, that's actually quiet expensive. i just went and checked bay. there is a copy of perfect dark for 18 dollars. that's including shipping, without shipping 8 dollars. so this does work but for people who want to make it look like they have a collection of games. this is a very expensive way to go.
Can you change normal n64 games with Rom blaster, or does it only work with boards purchased from site? Either way super cool, and I'll be picking one up fo sho after seeing this video.
Agreed, & while I still love collecting N64 games for my collection, an Everdrive is very handy not having to change carts that don't always work the first time you insert them.
All the thing in the OP is is a flash cart. I was expecting something like someone figured out how to program eeproms and make their own cart. Oh well. The item in the video is inexpensive enough but I'd still rather use my everdrive. Having one game on a cart isn't too exciting lol.
How can you dump the data off of an actual original Game Cart to then transfer it to the repo? I do love to but originals but would be awesome to not damage my original carts. Downloading ROMs is still a grey area from a legal standpoint. "Unless you own the original" of course BUT! I know for a fact that most don't own the originals and just have a free for all....lmao
That is so cool!!!! I do have a few questions. Does it work for real games that are taken apart? And also, how do you make your own game for the n64? or is it just transferred games?
Yeah, those systems are kind of a rarity. My Neo Geo is not working anymore. I brought it to a video tech here at work and he told me where the AC adapter part on the board is worn out and shot. :-/ Ohh well, I'm happy enough with my multi cart for my Neo Geo arcade. Would pickup another in the future if the price was right...
Hey John ! Great Video ! Making having a N64 really interesting ! On another note would you recommend to buy snes reproboard from them or muramasa ? And where you get your chips for those board ? Thanks ! :D
There already are! I have the NES and SNES one, but still need a Genesis one. Those are from other companies, but I believe RetroStage are working on something similar.

What are some other N64 imports I should look out for?

Thx for the video
John Riggs: RIGG'd Games Where do i get Artwork to make N64 carts look real ones so i can they look good
Way to go, Riggs! Exciting times. :)
Nintendrew - Drew didn't you make an Animal Crossing game on your channel using this exact device(s)?
Yeah
This is something I read about *Doubutsu no Mori* (Animal Forest/ Animal Crossing 64)

John could this be fixed by adding your own???
I don't think this will be possible. This was created specificly for Animal Crossing because the game was designed for the 64DD which had a internal clock. They just changed it to a simple cartrige with this system because of the failure of the 64DD.
Thanks for the knowledge :) I've heard about the 64DD and I thought it was very cool how they were trying to push a web service on it.

This really makes me want to make a gold Master Quest repo to add to my collection, now that it's finally possible without being insanely expensive!
Hey John, just wanted to say that I absolutely love your videos! They are so interesting and detailed!
What a time to be alive!
How has Riggs changed so much in 5 year!.!? Man!
Cool, an atomic purple N64 cartridge. Looks like something Nintendo should have made back in the day.
Haven't even came close to finishing the video but already looks great
Thank you for the no mercy info because that game is the only reason why I would of bought this product
N64 Repros! Great to hear that is happening! Thanks John
Some of these WWF No Mercy hacks would be awesome to see working on the actual console.
I had no idea there was a world of No Mercy mods out there. It is one of my favorite games of all time and need to download it and some mods to see if it works on my homebrewed Wii.
Great video and some great products to know about. Looking forward to more RetroStage reviews!
This is absolutely awesome John! ! love it!
Will the repros that work on these carts (like goldeneye X) also work on an ever drive?
Some people in the SM64 community is working on getting SM64 hacks to work on console, so far SM64: Missing Stars works on there with their efforts.
Thanks! I'll look into it!
No problem, let me know if you need anything.
Will send you ROM later i have it prep im KILLA PInk E
Can't wait to play Star Road and Last Impact on original hardware!
@Extra Deluxe Both games are to big 64mb need be 32mb
This is so sick. I will have to get my hands on this stuff in the future.
Okay so this may have already been asked or looked into but with the way tech is today vs. 1997 could you put FF7 on a N64 cart? I feel it would be possible now that memory may not be an issue but I'm sure there are a lot of other factors that might get in the way to be worked around

Damn, now I'ma have to pick up an N64 & a Blaster set up, thank you.
Very cool.Questions #1 does it come with instructions? #2 are the cart Shell's the same as regular 64 carts? & #3 Can I burn me a copy of Killer Instinct Gold? Ive been jonzin to play me some Killer Instinct Gold for a while now.🤗
Awesome video John!
overall price isn't too bad since repro n64 games are are running $50-90 each.
then theres that 600 in one cart.
Once more people are making these, you'll see that price drop, hopefully. No repro should ever be $90.
That looks great, been watching a few of your videos and now I'm a subscriber!
Thank you for your fantastic videos, keep up the great work!
Collecting retro games in the UK is a harder!
This was way cheaper than I thought it would be. Thanks for the tutorial!
That is the awesomest thing I've seen for making games
I've been waiting for this. I can't wait until I've got the extra funds together to make an order.
Thank you so much for this video! Ive been waiting for this for a Long time!
Excellent demonstration video. That means you could download N64 titles that wasn't released in America (I wouldn't know how many Nintendo 64 games that wasn't released in America).

Sweet! I'm looking forward to some affordable english translated repros hitting the market soon.
I'd prefer this way over a flash cart because having easy access to hundreds of games on one cart means I end up not putting as much effort into each game.
Nice vid Riggs!
You ever try to do a Ned library on the n64 cart be handly ur whole nes library on a few carts then your original carts can just stay unused
I want to make my own reproduction games for n64 because the officials are getting expensive and I just want the gameplay.
Hey john can you do. A video on making reproduction carts such as Goldfinger 64 with the retro stage programmer. I have read you can only play it on the ever drive. Super Mario Star Road works on cartridge now!
Dude that's awesome man!!!
Do you know if the Super Robot Wars will work? That would be awesome and might look into getting the equipment.
Sorta off topic but are those cartridge shells from retrostage? Are they pretty high quality? My kirby and the crystal shards is all cracked and that purple shell would be very fitting lol
You must use the Nintendo 64 PCB Board made by Retro Stage?
or is there any way to use the original cards ??
for example:
delete a card with Mario Kart 64 (CIC-6102) EEPROM (4 Kbits)
and put in Super Mario 64 (CIC-6102) EEPROM (4 Kbits)
Could it be ??
made my first mega drive repros today using a cheapo tl866 chinese programmer!! few extra steps but very happy :) wily wars and splatterhouse 3 btw
awesome! Gotta have Wily Wars!
And its all thanks to you! love the channel keep up the good work ! being from the UK it took me a while to source new pcbs, but Ive found a great place based in France retroelectronik.com/en/ so anyone from europe needing boards I can fully recommend them.

If any No Mercy Mod works on this, my life will be so much better!
would you be able to put like snes games on it maybe mario all stars? i think that would be awesome and a clear repro.
When can I make GameCube games?
You read my mind. I was going to comment to make N64 repros.
Is it possible to port my own games? like unity games? Also how to program the n64 controller?
Thank you John. Please do a NES, Sega Genesis and SNES repro how to if you have not already.
I have lots of videos on those, too!
Great, I will check them out. Thanks again.
Can I use rom hacks like Luigi's mansion 64 or super mario star road
RetroStage doesnt sell it anymore. Where can i get this now? any idea?
Thanks for the video. Nice thing to experiment with.
Glad you mentioned the No Mercy mods not working on this. I've been wanting to play the "WWF Legends" mod forever... do you think the mods would work on a rapberry pi?
Textures mods might work with MUPEN64PLUS-RPI
www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=58395
Hoping now that this is a possibility there'll be a mod or two that will fit on a cart.

Can I put donkey Kong 64 without having to buy the red expansion pack or will I still need it
Awesome! I'll be saving for one
How would someone go about coding there own games? I've been watching Code monkeys a lot and I want to try programming's on my own games for fun is there a way to get a program on your computer that will show you what it looks like as you're making it similar to xcode for making apps
Will all of it work on Windows XP?
Like as in to download and use the Blaster and the Repros.
wich cic chip do you have used for sin and punishement?
Damn I wish we could get some WWF No Mercy mods working on actual N64 hardware.
Shawn Redfield yeah I know I want the ecw one I can't get it to work on PC wich sux it just crashes
Would be nice if they had one that was non-reflashable though so you could just make a new game and ship it and have a little bit of a reduced price in bulk purchasing...

A great video, you da man Mr. Riggs.
I was looking at the website and they are claiming NES SNES Genesis same way I will be on board making reproduction carts for some games
can you put modded roms?
John can you make repros and hacks on the cheap or is it impossible
Can you change normal n64 games with Rom blaster, or does it only work with boards purchased from site? Either way super cool, and I'll be picking one up fo sho after seeing this video.
Got it now, thanks a bunch for reply bluedangerforyou elvey! Have a great weekend!
Everdrive is better. You put every game in the entire N64 library onto a SD card and you're good to go.
Agreed, & while I still love collecting N64 games for my collection, an Everdrive is very handy not having to change carts that don't always work the first time you insert them.

I hear ya, 10 minutes minimum for changinga game?? no thanks, my everdrive does it faster and better
Dawg it's the same as the original cartridge
Dennis S was totally thinking the same thing. I'd rather use an everdrive.
These boards might be alright for original productions though.
Super bummed no Animal Crossing, but my god this is so cool! Thank you for revealing this to me!
How can you dump the data off of an actual original Game Cart to then transfer it to the repo? I do love to but originals but would be awesome to not damage my original carts. Downloading ROMs is still a grey area from a legal standpoint. "Unless you own the original" of course BUT! I know for a fact that most don't own the originals and just have a free for all....lmao
good stuff i wish i had all of my retro games and systems still
That is so cool!!!! I do have a few questions. Does it work for real games that are taken apart? And also, how do you make your own game for the n64? or is it just transferred games?
Hi.. so i can not play the mario Star road on a console with this device?
whats a cord... do you mean the usb cable?
Will the cartridges work on a infinite lives muti cartridge flasher does anyone know
Krikzz sells a sega genesis version of that. Try it out for us.
ooh! I'd love to!
krikzz.com/store/home/38-flashkit-programmer-md.html
How about Atari Jaguar or Neo Geo mods? That would be stellar! That would give me a reason to dig that stuff up in the ol archives.
Not sure the market on those is as strong. I don't even have either system, but I'm sure it's not impossible.
Yeah, those systems are kind of a rarity. My Neo Geo is not working anymore. I brought it to a video tech here at work and he told me where the AC adapter part on the board is worn out and shot. :-/
Ohh well, I'm happy enough with my multi cart for my Neo Geo arcade. Would pickup another in the future if the price was right...
Hey John ! Great Video ! Making having a N64 really interesting ! On another note would you recommend to buy snes reproboard from them or muramasa ? And where you get your chips for those board ? Thanks ! :D
I'm not sure this really counts as repros because its a temporary solution, I'd lump this under the flashcart category
do you have tryed last Legion translated, i have an error when its veryfies
is there ever going to be a snes or genesis or nes version of this?
There already are! I have the NES and SNES one, but still need a Genesis one. Those are from other companies, but I believe RetroStage are working on something similar.
awesome these are great for me cause I can't solder at all because of my disability
When you hook it up to your computer can you transfer the saves onto your computer or is your only option to erase it?

do you take request to make a repro?
Very nice for making new game content.
thank you for this!
Can I use that stuff for a european N64 too?
did you try SM64 Last Impact??
it's the only game which I would want this for honestly
Acronell Zangetsu What about sm64 star road? I want both as a catridge
0:30 Na na na na Bat Knife!
Can you keep the programmer plugged in while the board is plugged into the console?
ooh... good question. Like a board sandwich. I'm not sure advise on it :)
New video! I would turn off the console when programming it. It would be like having your own dev console. HA!
hello from Mexico. thanks for the video
That's awesome!! Super easy
I was just wondering how to do this yesterday!
