As a daily professional FPV pilot my bag of choice is the pyro sport. It's absolutely not meant to be hiked with, but it's the largest FPV bag that's considered a carry-on (the pyro pro is too large). I've walked maybe 2 miles absolutely tops in it, and it absolutely destroyed my back. I now usually drag my bag on top of a pelican/luggage depending on where I'm going. Sometimes I'm doing a construction site, I'll have to walk 10+ flights of stairs with the bag. Depending on the job I usually unload what I need and carry it in my sling, but if it's a big project... I'm walking my 40lb backpack up the stairs. Frankly it's a function of what you need. I would love to carry a lighter bag, but when you do this for 8 hours in a day, you need backups, more backups (of everything), tools, tons of lipos/chargers.

I use camera bags. Or survival back packs. The kitchen sink back pack I like the most..

Thanks Bruce, nice discussion. The hiking aspect is a great angle. Like seeing how packed and organized the inside. Agree, there needs to be a flat ground tarp (included, or a custom accessory). It would be nice if had rings, or places to hook stuff on the sides. Thinking water bottle, etc. Can reach back and grab.
What would be interesting is hearing from the community, and how pilots customized their packs for how they use them. This is where the great ideas for innovation come from.

This would add a little exercise into flying drones. Standing in a field with a transmitter doesn't do much for me. I think a MTB would be helpful on dirt roads. Ten miles out and back would make for a long day walking all the way.

Great looking pack, i have a Torvill bag but for an fpv weekend or day somewhere in the wilderness the beach trolleys/carts are great, can load whatever you want into them.
I went to a 3 day outdoor festival last year and people had them on the dance floor 😂

If you’re looking for a good drone pack that also has room for drink and food, I recommend the Torvol Explorer series of packs. The mini one is nice, for smaller loads, but the full size one is just as big as the iFlight.

I have foldable sitting pad in laptop compartment. I use the rain cover to hide the drones. So that everyone doesn't see that I'm carrying a drone in my backpack.

Great review Bruce. It certainly has a nice depth to it. Definitely needs a re-design of the back section. It really needs to be detachable and have an encapsulating padded cover of the quads.
A good shoulder strap is very critical, especially when you have 'knobbly' shoulders. I really like the solid rubber treads on the base.
Look forward to the other pack reviews.
On a side note, glad you didn't trip over the flower garden at the South Waikato signage. Take care and see you in the next video.

    Wow!!! That backpack is insane!!!!!
Also, that would acare me to have drones hanging out there, and showing them.
I guess you couldnkeep the rain cover on when it's dry lol
Looks like a decent drone pack
Should've ended the vid with a short FPV drone footage :)

We're screwed in the UK. We don't have outback. Seriously, I went out on a snowy January morning, miles from anywhere into the countryside. Parked in a gateway, and launched. Within 20 seconds, I had a voice in the background asking what I was doing. Not a farmer, just someone out walking....

My trunk or what you would call 'the boot' of my car is my backpack. Of course it's hard to take that down a walking trail.😀

Nice! I got one of them myself, mostly for long trips and traveling including flights; I like that it does fit in the overhead and the laptop sleeve takes all it's sense there -even has a separator there for your tablet-
Although a bit heavy aroud 2 kilos so that takes away from your useable payload in this case
Pretty happy with it overall, although for smaller trips within the city I'd still rather use my cheapie 15 dollas one 😄

To be fair, you're carrying a LOT of everything. Multiple quads, accessories, camera gear, radio gear etc ... I think you'd struggle to find a perfect backpack regardless of cost.

Doesn't seem worth the price to me. You run the risk of ruining the quads on the back for one thing. Plus most people will only be packing one or two drones.

    • @semadragun
      @semadragun 11 месяцев назад

Normally you remove the quads from the pack first..then lay the bag down
