Big fan of your channel, just found your channel last night when I was looking for a review on the sony TA-N330es power ampifier. excellent review, be getting one of those amp's myself soon. Just got a question for you. Have you ever heard of Athena speakers or specifically the AS-F2 loudspeaker. if you have I would love to hear your thoughts on what kind of amp should I drive with them?
Welcome! Yes, Athena were made by AP1, same manufacturer as Mirage & Energy. Fairy easy to drive, so - you don't need big power. The sound has a warm midrange, so (for some) older receivers and amps might sound a bit thick. Ultimately, it depends on the sound you like. What are you thinking of using?
@@1JGP1 I really do love the sound of my athena AS-F2. im looking to get a TA-N330ES power ampifier and using a avr as my preout section. if you would suggest any other amps that you think would suit better for my speakers? Be gladly to take your opinion.
@@1JGP1 Indeed I do. I have several, as I restore/repair vintage audio gear... I have a set for sale currently! I also have my own personal set of Pentas that i don't ever plan to sell.
I find people like the Brand more than what is actually delivered. Similar to Apple products. B/O are not really thought of as outstanding equipment by most audiophiles.
Have you ever owned listened to anything from them? I find that people with your opinion usually have not. I agree, not really "audiophile" stuff, but it's a very nice blend of Sound, quality, ease of use, and aesthetically pleasing products that work remarkably well.@@Poppinwheeeeellllllieeeeez
@@Johnathan_Waters , well - In that case (lol)...sometimes I can't resist! Seriously though, what do a good condition pair sell for? Inquiring minds want to know...

Thank you, I appreciate your comments.
Fantastic channel! Love your palace!

Yamaha did it one more time. Ford bought Volvo in 1999 and in 2005 two volvo's got a yamaha engine... I'm enjoying your vintage audio channel. Great.

I didnt realize there is a ns18 I have the ns 15 which has venting around the box slits really and a vented back otherwise identical
For that money you could easily get into some Advent 5002s which sound great with early ss gear like a sansui 4000 or 5000.
True, the 5002's are great sounding speakers...the Sansui 4000 is a killer little receiver!
Nice video! Have you ever listened to the Bang & Olufsen Beolab Pentas? I would be interested to hear your opinion on those.
I have to say no...I haven't. Do you have a pair?

What is the gray fabric on the fronts?
These NS-18 were original. I bought them from an estate a while back...from what I remember, it's more of a pattern on the cloth.
