Man, your comments on the small companies getting it right while the established big names are dropping the ball, nail on the head right there. You'd think Castle would see how Spektrum's micro setup flopped causing them to just get shat on by everyone, and said "hold up lets make sure this works" but no
Hey, at least the Spektrum was plug and play. More than half of the people that get this castle will not know what to do with them, not everybody knows how to solder, even if they had a soldering iron. I see a lot of fail installations, burning esc’s all over the place.
Your the best. I appreciate the stone cold honesty. All other review guys are straight fluff. This is why you are the best. Thanks for saving my money. 👍🏼
Really appreciate that! It don’t get me recommended a lot with RUclips or some of these companies but it’s what I started the channel to do! I was so tired of the fluff myself lol
Thanks for the advice. I believe they sell separately a Bluetooth module for the nano castle, so you can connect to it. I almost bought it… good thing I didn’t go crazy getting that new system.
Hey man I just powered mine on and it seems pretty decent so far. Half the cost of a python pro with better than half the specs. I did a quick short showing the crawl with low gears and 48t motor. You have to program through transmitter now until they add it to castle link. That I agree should have been fixed before releasing it, but it’s not a complete trash product. I think it deserves a chance especially with a 5A BEC. This will let guys keep their brushed motors and gain a lot from stock ESCs.
5A BEC isn't bad-but only 5V And yes it is $50, which is the same cost as the AM32 based Dinky and MoFo; but is hard to program, and has to have additional money and time spent (though small) just to plug in. I want more options in the mini crawler market, but it appears this one under delivers.
@@matthewcopeland4441 I think your points are valid and I think the price is kind of spot on, the main lacking point is the BEC voltage like you mentioned. Maybe they can quickly do a v2, or who knows what we will be able to adjust once the castle link has the nano added.
Thanks for the honest and informational review! I run mostly Mofo brushless motors with lizard pro ESCs and they just work. Lately I've run a couple DinkyRC ESC's and tuned to the motor - they work great! I guess I'll skip the Castle and maybe try a Mofo ESC next!
Hey dude! I've been out of the game for a while (had a baby, totally took all my time), getting back in and catching up on all of your videos. EXCELLENT content! Yeah, the UFO sound... SO GLAD people have finally said no to ufo sound. So so so F'ng happy. I HATE that sound! So glad i don't have to hear the lame "actually i like the sound" comment. Lol bullsht. Anyway, thank you! Keep up the great content.
Without vector control/FOC this esc is not going to fair well in a setup like this with very little gear reduction. This thing would likely do alot better in a rig with way more gearing. The same sound as the 1/10 esc and it sounds terrible! Same price point as the proven ESC's like the Furitek, Mofo, Dinky that's a tough sell right there! I wanted it to do well, I've been a fan of Castle for many years. However I probably won't be buying any of these fir my 24 scale builds unfortunately.
Wow! Anyone knows the sales of the Spektrum/Axial brushless SCX24 system? Never heard again of it after the tons of release videos. Seems Castle wants to go the same route. Hate this whining also in the old 1/10 crawlers, so painful.
As a retired 1/10 SCALE 4WD Pro-Mod Monster Truck Builder, Racer, and Freestyle champ in my region, Castle Creations were the company that sponsored me for the win. I however have just gotten into the 1/24 scale monster truck rc scene. And knowing how Castle puts so much into designing their products, I am kinda biased to your video. I feel like it's better to stick with one company when it comes to motors to ESCs, especially if you want the best out of the product being reviewed. I mean, my first races in pro mod were won with a sidewinder 3 and a 3800kv motor. Then I went to a sensored setup, and no one could touch me. I could have sat out my last 3 races, and still gotten 1st in the points rase for that season. This being said, I just don't feel like the ESC being shown is really the right choice for the type of motor. But, with a Bluetooth connection for use of the CC app for the ESC could definitely help get alot more out of any brushless motor suitable for the size. If you follow the guidelines for that ESC as Castle describes, I know it will do what it is made to do, and more. If not, it's guaranteed for a year to definitely help get you set up for exactly what you need within the perimeters of your build. Castle has always given me excellent customer service and always stand behind all of their products firmly. Sorry you couldn't find a happy medium,... Maybe try talking to a Castle support agent that would easily get you on the right path. Sorry so long, and hope no hard feelings. Just hate to see, any products really, not being represented properly by substituting add-ons that might not have been within its original testing parameters. Still like your videos, and will still continue to watch always! ✌️🍻♥️
Appreciate the heads up man! I've just switched to a Furitek esc on my AX24 less than a month ago but still running an Injora brushed motor with it for the time being until I decide which motor I want to chop up my chassis for. So much smoother than the stock system even on brushless and no brownouts when using 4 wheel steering. Absolute game changer and I haven't even gone brushless yet. 😂
Maybe at this point try a diff motor? (For the shake) And yah… 100% agree that new escs need to compete with the ease of use and features/quietness/slow crawl of the furitek… If it’s not even remotely close, then don’t even release it (unless it’s $20)
Yeah I may swap the transmission out and underdrive the entire truck a bit idk? Love the way it drives with the wheel speed etc. It just has its moments lol
Honestly, I really like the Mini Komodo and the Python Pro X. The low speed control and torque-density is awesome. Castle doesn't have FOC, so you're losing with any small motor. John Holmes tried working with Castle on their FOC and Castle won't have anything to do with it. I'm just repeating what I've found and read.
That is disappointing. Back in the day, we ran Castle big time. Too bad they didn't produce a product that competes with today's market. Thanks for the review.
Exactly what I expected. Castle is out of touch with the mini/micro community. Until they start paying attention to what we want, this is the type of product we can expect. Mostly seems like a reworked Sidewinder Micro 2 to me (I own two of them). Never going to compete with a FOC ESC.
I support you brother 100% I do not want that noise and I don't think anybody wants that noise when it comes to video and yeah that don't look very good at all when it comes to slow crawl
I tried but it wouldn’t connect. Have you connected it? I updated the program on my pc because it wouldn’t connect to my b link. It don’t list the nano in the program on my ox even after updating so I thought maybe it’s just not been added yet? Couldn’t do any tuning because it wouldn’t connect!
@@2fmrc I’d err on the Side of it hasn’t been updated in castle link! Mine has yet to arrive but they have shipped so I’m patiently waiting! Castle is solid when you get it tuned right to your settings that you like as long as you don’t mind the noise they make. Hope they’re releasing some kind of update soon that’ll allow you ti actually connect it!
I was looking at this nano for my TRX4m, but honestly, whenever i look at something other than Furitek, i end up right back at Furitek lol. I think Hobbywing would do better, just waiting for them to shock us all with a Fusion Mini....
Fusion mini would be amazing! Someone may beat them to it 🤷🏻♂️ Check out the vid I just posted on the Injora esc for the Trx4m if staying brushed in it. It’s solid and gonna be cheap!
Wow, to late for me I already ordered. I’ve been using Castle for over 20 years, and I still have original Mamba Monster on 1/8 with 4s working without a problem. But what I just saw it’s unbelievable, maybe I can use it in one of my Monster Truck 1/24 builds. I have over 40 builds and at least 30 of them are Furitek, lately I’ve been playing with am32 / Escape32 and they are pretty good.
I’ve been looking for different options than Furitek, they are the best out there and most of my builds are with Furitek but I’d like to have my options open. I’ve been testing two different am32 esc’s. One of them the size is unbelievably small but doesn’t work very well with CEDAR and the other one is actually ESCape32 with Wi-Fi dongle, I’am really like him that one. I think Castle is a little bit late in the game, and now that they wanted to play, they didn’t start with a good strategy.
Dude your absolutely right as long as they have been out and they can't put ends on the wires your right most people don't or can't and why would they want to when there are so many plug and plays
LOL - an ESC for me, because I dislike this "plug and play" stuff and always make my own wiring and plugs I want (I know, I am in a small minority with this). But this whining? No way. This performance? No way. Thank you for saving me about 100 bucks buying this ESC (or even more, including shipping, custom fees, ... probably will be available in EU somewhen next year), I was (we were) impatiently waiting for the release, but now I will for sure not buy it.
Yeah if it was really good i probably would live with the soldering lol. I’d definitely shorten the wires up much more but being that it didn’t do too well I may not mess with it. I’m gonna try it in another combination and see how it does before I just sell it lol
Yeah I really wish someone would come out with some good underdrive for the fcx axles. The new LGRP transmission would definitely help it I’d say. I’ve been saving that for a new build though. Was gonna use the x15 axles and overdrive the crap out of them with that transmission to get my wheel speed back lol
I like furtitek as well but I’m still going to try the castle nano anyways. I am in the minority that likes the whine, and I want to try it in a worm gear truck, a FCX transmission truck and a 4M with a crawler trans. Was the furitek tuned or was that stock settings? I hope the castle has some good tuning available like the furitek does. I have a dozen+ lizards pros and ultimates and pythons but some competition is great.
I’ve got a couple on the micro Komodo that run pretty well also. Just can’t get this one lined out with the mofo motor. I really like it’s power but I may have to swap it out or underdrive the truck major.
100 percent that's an issue 100 percent people that are getting into this that might not know nothing they want about it just hook stuff up and go not have to learn how to solder and don't know if they got it right and end up hurting their self or something crazy
Same been soldering for 35 years, I'd rather sweat pipe for a whole house than solder these tiny wires lol , it's a hobby we love building but not doing unnecessary steps,
Rather odd that spektrum and castle didn’t beta test against a furitek and at least try to compete. Spektrum especially putting out that high a kv motor and it not having any slow speed modulation, especially for a sensored system, is crazy. Hearing that castle scream is not pleasant and totally agree on the soldering. I’ve been in the hobby since the 90’s and hate to solder. I’ll do it but would much rather get a plug and play system.
Well I have never been a castle fan. Always a racer and not a basher. Saw the nano a week or so ago and was curious. Now the only thing I am curious about are the wheels you have on that rig. I like those.
Castle makes some decent stuff, but get with the times, furitek is hands down the best, they include a Bluetooth programmer, not make you buy it separately. I'm keeping the castle stuff I have but until they offer what furitek does, keep being cheap and behind the times.
Let’s see the python X with the Komodo or perentie next! FURITEK does not disappoint and even if they do, their customer service makes things right very quickly.
dang kinda disappointing to see I had high hopes for this system lots of people talk very highly of castle, looks like ill be sticking to furiteck, I got 6 of their systems now and they all work amazing, lots of hours on each one and ive never had any issues
Possible something wrong with the motor? Love the honest review but if none of the escs you’re mentioning worked well (which have proven themselves) just leads me to believe another motor would solve some issues? Just a thought. Great vid sir 👏
Wow. I know it’s 9months later but Woow! Horrible. This one did cross my mind but now nooo. I’m think on trying a dinky forsure Have you tried the Vt3k ESC?
@@24Krawlers no I’ve never even considered it with the price it carries. If it was anything besides am32 I would think about it 😆 This castle system did work out well in my 1/24 bouncer at least.
You gotta tune these things... I run a castle micro x2 works perfect, also have one of these and it works perfect.. just just tune the drag brake, punch, and throttle curve..
Yeah it just wouldn’t connect on release so I had no way to tune. They fixed the issue and lots of people running it now. Still prefer my Furitek though honestly.
I think companies should consult with builders. Actual builders like yourself or people knowledgeable about what’s cutting edge in the 24/18 world. The specs on the nano are downright disappointing. Have to add a $20 bec to get enough servo power. And if you want to tune in depth it’s $25 for the cable. Or $55 for the wifi link. That’s furitek python price now with worse specs. And like you said you still have to cut connectors and solder. Also the dinky esc has a wifi link now. Will you touch upon that when you go back to the d drive?
I got the wifi link in for the dinky and just haven’t played with it all yet. Hopefully soon! Was going to use it in a new build but haven’t had the time to get rolling with it yet.
That sucks! They absolutely should set it up to plug it in! Bec is a drag should have higher. I’ve always been a fan of castle I’ve always had good luck with there products what did fail was all user error.
This video just solidified me never watching another review by you.. cause a 12 pole drone motor does just as well as what you are showing lol a motor not specifically made for crawling lol
So because I said this esc didn’t work with this setup you wanna talk motors? Oh and I was pretty much the first person to even run drone motors (surpass 2204) in these things so makes perfect sense ✌️
That’s the main issue with this truck. It’s jumpy. So this thing has no chance. I’m sure it’ll work fine in a normal build but so will a stock fcx esc lol
I'm sorry you wasted your money for sure I don't think a lot of companies realize that we do want the best for their products what I have found to work I have not ran it's in the FCX portals and the warm gear portal by treal one of my favorite ride setups Fury Tech python Pro with the mofo 4100 bam 12 to pinion or the dinky his stuff has come a long ways man it is a lot better a lot better maybe a little bit more jumpy from low to high but I'm running a high KV motor but still getting that slow crawl out of it
Disappointing to say the least.. I think the money Furitek spent on developing their tuning app is paying itself off exponentially! Plug and play, ease of use etc..
Never was a fan of Castle products! Always fail! Even way back when they 1st came out! Yup I said it! Junk!I don't even have to watch your full video brother!
Put it in a stock 24th running brushed and not a custom comp truck with no gear reduction and one you already admit to not being smooth with any esc. Not everybody is a comp truck owner. I love it as a replacement for stock electronics that constantly fail.
@@2fmrc you got to look into applying for the castle beta program. You have a ton of knowledge and feedback to offer in order to make products better. 32 bit castle systems are coming soon so the whine will go away with them.
..this castle "esc" made me laugh a lot,it is such a sh°t..!!..how can you develop such a product???it makes no sense, hey!castle, what were you thinking at..??...my four 1/24 rigs are all FURITEK-ED,all working more than PERFECT......thank you castle for that good laugh!!
To be fair this truck has scx transmission and fcx axles which takes a really good system to even run but I was just hoping it could do it. I’m gonna test it in other setups and see how it does with a more normal combination.
I couldn’t agree more…like who the fuck wants to solder if you don’t have to. For a few more bucks I get connectors and Bluetooth like come on this is fucking stupid 🤣🤣
Thanks for taking one for the team! I can't believe they released this thing. It is like they didnt even buy a Furitek for evaluation!
Haha! They should’ve!
Just be glad it didn't burst into flames, they don't call em Castle Cremations for nothing lmao
Please! I’ve got castle systems that are 5,6 yrs old & run strong to this day!
I just had a sidewinder4 let the ghost out 👻
The fact that the servo lead is as long as your whole truck shows how little effort they put into learning the 1/24 market.
Facts.
Dang. That sucks. I’m glad you made this video. I was looking forward to this one.

Same been soldering for 35 years, I'd rather sweat pipe for a whole house than solder these tiny wires lol , it's a hobby we love building but not doing unnecessary steps,
Heck I get better slow crawl out of a version 2 stock esc with a injora purple pro motor.
Lol they are Treal wheels. I flipped the hex on them 🤘🏼

Telling no lies love it keep it up
Castle makes some decent stuff, but get with the times, furitek is hands down the best, they include a Bluetooth programmer, not make you buy it separately. I'm keeping the castle stuff I have but until they offer what furitek does, keep being cheap and behind the times.
Let’s see the python X with the Komodo or perentie next! FURITEK does not disappoint and even if they do, their customer service makes things right very quickly.
I wonder if there's a software update yet?
If it's not plug and play, I'm not interested. Thanks for the heads up.
LAME AF!
dang kinda disappointing to see I had high hopes for this system lots of people talk very highly of castle, looks like ill be sticking to furiteck, I got 6 of their systems now and they all work amazing, lots of hours on each one and ive never had any issues
Maybe they had something other than crawlers in mind?
Monster trucks maybe
Possible something wrong with the motor? Love the honest review but if none of the escs you’re mentioning worked well (which have proven themselves) just leads me to believe another motor would solve some issues? Just a thought. Great vid sir 👏
Agree comparing the furitek to castle is horrendous lol, thanks for taking the hit for all of us 😅
Wow. I know it’s 9months later but Woow! Horrible. This one did cross my mind but now nooo. I’m think on trying a dinky forsure
Have you tried the Vt3k ESC?
@@24Krawlers no I’ve never even considered it with the price it carries. If it was anything besides am32 I would think about it 😆 This castle system did work out well in my 1/24 bouncer at least.
Can't say anything bad about Castle cause it's always been outta my price range......it's not hurting my feelings.. or my pockets!!! 😂😂😂😂
The noise would bug me hard to beat furitek
You are 100% right
Nice sounds fits the product. Always hated castle simply for that fuckin esc whine and now same shit on the minis fuck that
TY, you saved me money dude
That’s what I’m here for! Glad to hear it
I think companies should consult with builders.
You should try it with scx24
I’m gonna. I feel like it’ll be fine with worm gears. Takes an awesome esc to run scx transmission and these fcx axles.
That noise is terrible... dont think Castle is ever gonna learn
it really is sad castle let us down with this. as someone who really likes cast stuff, this aint it.
What a weird sound it's making similar to the motor is spinning inside the motor pinion.
I know it's not.
Thanks for saving me $$ sweet.
I'm that 80% that doesn't want to solder and fool around with connections and crap
Same here! Lol why would anyone wanna do it when we can plug in another setup and go!
You call it in the first few minutes. No clue what they're doing haha
It doesn't have foc so holding a constant throttle and expecting it to crawl doesn't make sense. You just imput a hair more throttle
That’s the main issue with this truck. It’s jumpy. So this thing has no chance. I’m sure it’ll work fine in a normal build but so will a stock fcx esc lol
Boy am I glad I didn't buy 1
This is not gonna change the industry
Bullshit! I’ve got castle systems 5,6 yrs old still run like they did when they were new!🤡
sorry to piss off castle fans! Lol I I never had any good luck with them in all scales of rc
You upgrade before leer
Sad 😔
Return it for a refund. Nothing spells it out to companies better than loosing what's important to them, $$$. Hope they see this and are embarrassed.
Put it in a stock 24th running brushed and not a custom comp truck with no gear reduction and one you already admit to not being smooth with any esc. Not everybody is a comp truck owner. I love it as a replacement for stock electronics that constantly fail.
Yeah I wanted to test it in something tougher. I can slow crawl with anything in a stock truck. Not worth the money for that imo
It's worse than stock. I don't understand.
To be fair this truck has scx transmission and fcx axles which takes a really good system to even run but I was just hoping it could do it. I’m gonna test it in other setups and see how it does with a more normal combination.
Micro Castle-whine...gross.
Definite fail!!! Lol
That’s gross
Chinese crap gumball machine quality is castle! Hahave 😅😅😅😅😅
I got one of them hobbypark Trx4m systems on Black Friday sales for like $60 and it works better then this.
I couldn’t agree more…like who the fuck wants to solder if you don’t have to. For a few more bucks I get connectors and Bluetooth like come on this is fucking stupid 🤣🤣
