I think your critique is a bit unfair, considering the market for this flashlight at an excellent price point. This light is only $40, a steal for this brightness and durability. There have been sales on this light on more than one occasion. You're testing a used flashlight, against a flashlight that's been used by you. If the flashlight was new, I would value your opinion a bit more. The light could be defective, which any light can be guilty of. Again, you're reviewing a used light, not a new one. D-cell batteries cost a LOT more. This flashlight uses a more inexpensive battery, and has an insane battery life considering the low price. You can also purchase rechargeable batteries, which work nicely. The only batteries that I've had better luck with (compared to thunderbolt batteries) are the Coast branded batteries you get with one of their lights. The rubber sections help to keep the light itself from striking the ground, or anything else you might have an issue with on a job site. Would metal be better at a striking point? Absolutely. But, I'm quite certain that one solid hit with this light won't be forgotten. This is a substantial light, with some real weight to it. Flashlights are a tool, you just pick the light that works best for the job ahead of you. This light is bright, powerful, sturdy, and on sale, can be found for $30. This light might not be a great light for you, but for other folks, this one just might fit the bill nicely, at a price that isn't going to break the bank. Every tool has an intended market, clearly this one isn't for you, fair enough. But, it absolutely has it's place in someone's truck and/or toolbox.
Dang dude, you sure ripped this light a new one. Personally I bought it and am thrilled so far. It’s brighter than my car headlights and hefty. No issues. Definitely would recommend, bought two more as gifts.
I wish you had legit bought a brand new one and reviewed it. I've seen other reviews from RUclips on the same flashlight that claims how good it is. So I just went out and bought one a couple of days ago and I am very pleased with how well it works. You will not find another flashlight in this price range with the quality this one has and works as well as it does. I had a 2000 lumen LED flashlight and took it back but before I did I compared it and this one is definitely brighter. Yes, it can be used as a weapon. The rubber is not as soft as he says unless it got burnt up even more in the campfire. It has quite a bit of weight to it so you can hit somebody it will do some damage or stun them enough to get away.
I'm a d.I.y. and I find Harbor freight to be a good store for tools but I do research on any product that they have before I buy. The good thing is that their tools are getting better, so before you shop their, do research and get a coupon. Thanks for your videos, you're part of my research information
We now live in a new world the rubberized striking edge is to protect the attacker from getting hurt so he can't turn around and sue you for damages lol!
The rubberized edge and beefy weight best fits a police officers or security guards needs. A blow from this would put a bad guy down with 1 tap and if it's dropped by accident accident it won't break. The purpose of this design is for it to double as a Billy club or night stick. I just commented for the people doing their reviews to recognize this flashlight isn't for the regular flashlight enthusiasts, it's meant to beat people over the head, and not cut them open.
Zebralight is a company that rates their flashlights and headlights using true, out the front, lumens. The numbers will look low, but you’ll be very happy with what you get.
I don't know if this is weird but I like it uses a bunch of AA's. I save so many rechargeable aa's and don't have to worry about integrated batteries failing. But they really shouldn't advertise it as 3700.
You're right. It's targeting the large fraction of the American public that either won't or can't think critically.Such customers are quick to accept as real what actually is fake.
You have no idea how close to the truth you are. I work for the company and here's an example of the corruption in the higher up. We are only allowed to order from staples for supplies because one of the execs' wife works for them. So even if we can get say paper for cheaper from another company we can't buy it from them. FFS Our employee walkie talkies cost over 80$ for one because of it. Another fun thing is we can't order what product we need for trucks. The warehouses simply send us what they think we need (even though in the southern distribution sector aka Dillon SC all the employees are druggies.) So basically they'll either go off of last years sales around the time of the year. AKA If we had a hurricane in the south last year around this time and all of our generators and tarps sold out our small store gets overloaded with them, or they'll just decide to send us over 2000 of one product simply because they have too much in their warehouse. It's absolutely ridiculous and run like a bunch of toddlers are the CEOs.
Catus could say, “ I can’t believe I bought this stinking flashlight! “ Had me laughing almost from the get go! Too funny! Especially when you first mentioned the batteries. I never saw such a huge battery tray! Good lawd! Crazy! Sorry you bought a POS, and hope you can return it in time. Super enjoyable video. That Sofirn torch is very impressive. I will have to see if Charles has it available for discount. Thanks for the comic relief. I think you helped a lot of people without realizing it! 👍👍👍👍👍👍😁✌🏻🔦🇺🇸
Yeah but those suck if you need to keep using it. I'd just as soon swap in an already charged battery, then be able to keep using the light while the drained battery that was removed is in a charger. The key to this is having good tailcap threads so you don't put too much wear or risk cross threading. Even lubed, some of the cheap lights with unanodized fine pitch threads will just get loose and cause electrical contact degradation.
Get a brand new one you dingus. If you buy anything used or on clearance it will likely not perform like a brand new product. I have this light and for the price it is literally unbeatable for the value.
lmao this review was scathing! you must have needed to blow off some steam lol for real though, well built flashlights can be amazing these days. even from some of the cheapo amazon brands like sofirn or thorfire which are basically just cheap knockoffs of higher quality brands like fenix or streamlight. never get flashlights from harbor freight unless they're free, they don't have any good ones in the store
Yeah I saw the lumens and laughed 🤣 esp when u said that amount of batteries 🤣 can buy maglite for that price and I thought 3 D batteries was bad in mine ...
Sorry guy, but your review is not a good one, but the way you conduct your reviews is very good, this review you really didn't talk about it as being a Billy club that doesn't create lawsuits. That was where you lacked in the purpose of the flashlight topic. You kinda ripped off the flashlights potential by not talking about its positive uses and reason for it's design. It's a durable Billy club that won't cut people open when they get hit by it.
It would cost a fortune in AA batteries if you used that flashlight very often. Those thunderbolt HF batteries (that used to be free) would last maybe twenty minutes.
Yeah that light is junk, generic fake chinese LED, a driver that couldn't support 3700lumen actually that light would struggle to really be 300lumens. I can't stand product like that, a total waste of resources.
Hardly, if it drains TWELVE AA cells in two hours, it's way more than 300 lumens even if not anywhere near 3700. A decent TWO x AA cell flashlight can just about run 2 hours at 300 lumens. Consider that it's pretty easy today to get 100 lumens per watt, so would be about 3W (if not less) even from the generic chinese LEDs, so if you have an LED with about 3.7Vf that's about 810mA drive current to hit 3W, then factor for some inefficiency ~80% from the boost driver to step the series cells' 2.4V up to 3.7V, and you're drawing about 1 amp from the batteries, with a typical Ah rating of about 2Ah for something like Eneloops.
I can't believe you even bought that, due to using 12 x AA cells which is absurd... guess it beats using 24x AAA cells. ;) If they were giving these away for free, I still wouldn't buy 12 x rechargeable batteries for it, and alkalines are a non-starter for my flashlights.
I always find it interesting that people spend $32 and think they should be getting quality. What part of $32 and "3700 lumens" seems legit? As a flashlight junkie, I can tell you, you get what you pay for.
I just bought one of these and it is a very good quality, very bright flashlight Keep in mind that this man is reviewing a used flashlight that was obviously abused and left in a campfire and burn it up. Go read the reviews on it. That tells the story..
I think your critique is a bit unfair, considering the market for this flashlight at an excellent price point. This light is only $40, a steal for this brightness and durability. There have been sales on this light on more than one occasion.

Personally I bought it and am thrilled so far. It’s brighter than my car headlights and hefty. No issues. Definitely would recommend, bought two more as gifts.
I’m debating if I should get this one or the one that’s 6000 lumen rechargeable, or both lol
I wish you had legit bought a brand new one and reviewed it. I've seen other reviews from RUclips on the same flashlight that claims how good it is. I appreciate the rant. You told me everything I wanted to know. You saved me from disappointment and I thank you.
We now live in a new world the rubberized striking edge is to protect the attacker from getting hurt so he can't turn around and sue you for damages lol!
Swing it like a club, it could be lethal. Jab with the rubberized edge for non lethal deterrent.

Great review, you nailed every fault with this flashlight.
Best most concise product review I've seen in a while. This product sucks don't buy it.
The 3700 must have suffered some damage from the previous owner, effecting it's performance maybe?
Catus you really are a comical man. I enjoy your wit along with these reviews..
I don't know if this is weird but I like it uses a bunch of AA's. I save so many rechargeable aa's and don't have to worry about integrated batteries failing. But they really shouldn't advertise it as 3700.
What make and model is the small touch plz
He should post a link to it,
@Col Oliver it’s a Sofirn SP33 V3 Rechargeable Led Flashlight, High lumen 3500lm Powerful Cree XHP50.2 torch
Also with several months old batteries. My lux meter reads 3175lumens
Mine doesn't work anymore. Ran one set of batteries then installed rechargeable ones
I like your honesty Catus Maximus, and they, HF deserves the Rant U gave them!!!
Evidence that someone at HF in a position of power has a drug addiction problem. Sad.
It looks tactical. With everything going on today its not really surprising that they try to sell this. Its targeting a certain group of people.
You're right. It's targeting the large fraction of the American public that either won't or can't think critically.Such customers are quick to accept as real what actually is fake.
@@rachavya bingo

Burning flesh, sorry but wounded myself laughing
Too funny

Any Harbor freight light specs basically cut them in half., and that’s your actual output.
Great heads up!
Harbor freight sells on $ pricing, and a lot of false advertising. The FTC is noticing the many complaints.
So, no more mister nice guy...what do you really think?
Buys a beat to shit flashlight and complaints about everything like he was scammed
I have one of these it’s bright
Damn Catus, your indignation over this HF product is quite clear!
I’ve been done with regular battery flashlights, I only buy rechargeable flashlights

I have no issues with my little quantum flashlight. Or my headlamp....i wonder if it's just a bad flashlight....i mean its been beat to death
I'm glad I'm not the only one. I like the one I picked up. Same model.
Well, not everything from harbor freights a good idea. Like u said too good to be true🤨🤨
Looks alot like the olympia Flashlight from tractor supply except that one is actually good!
lmao this review was scathing! you must have needed to blow off some steam lol

never get flashlights from harbor freight unless they're free, they don't have any good ones in the store
Sorry C.M. ...thanks.
I want a flashlight that uses 500 button cell batteries.
Junk for sure. 12 AA good batteries(not HF batteries) aren't cheap. I've never had HF give me any grief on a return.
FWIW he cites the sofirm light because its advertised as 3500 lumens. Good video thanks for saving me a $40 disappointment.
And, just where is it that people live that they need a "striking edge for defense"? I'm so tired of so many capitalizing on some people's fears.
Deception anyone???
Yeah I saw the lumens and laughed 🤣 esp when u said that amount of batteries 🤣 can buy maglite for that price and I thought 3 D batteries was bad in mine ...
So do you like it?
🤣
Yup, I gave up on Harbor Freight! Ripped me off too many times!
Husky and makita forever!!!
Holy smokes I never saw anything with that many batteries lol. Nope not getting this. Thank you for the video
Ok it’s a terrible flashlight but why does it stink ?

this is a fake review and should be easy for all to spot if you use your own mind
😂 If Harbor Freight closed its doors you'd all be crying
We would?

It's Lasted with lots of use for well over a year of night Racoon hunting
I doubt the tiny one you own would last that long
Great light
Trash design in comparison to what's out there. Thank you.
I always find it interesting that people spend $32 and think they should be getting quality. What part of $32 and "3700 lumens" seems legit? As a flashlight junkie, I can tell you, you get what you pay for.
