Love it. Just discovered your channel tonight. Looking forward to watching other videos. Caldo verde is just great. I come from a very Portuguese family from Brockton Massachusetts and Fall River. So I was taught “how it’s done”….. But that is what I have learned and brought to the table for my family. Tradition is great. And never forget. BUT. It’s ok to add, and mix some cultures, and just make it better. I don’t think our ancestors would be mad…. We don’t do beans or cabbage. But those are some great additions……. Nice Nice job

Thank you. This recipe is more like a stew than a soup, hence being on "steroids". True Caldo Verde is much lighter and has no beans or cabbage and just enough Chourico to add flavor. I like both. My mother would mash some of the potatoes to thicken the soup and did not add cabbage. Every Portuguese person that know or grew up with has their own recipe, and they all taste great! Thanks for commenting. More videos on the way.

I love your recipes. They are clear cut and look delicious. This soup is going to be one of the first dishes I'm making for the two of us.

Thank you! It's one of my favorites especially during the winter months. It's a big pot but the soup freezes well. Don't forget to make some fresh bread to go with it!

@@CreativeCookingVideos Oh my goodness yes! That just puts that homemade soup over the top when you have fresh bread also!

    Is this the Azores version?

I think that the Island version is more authentic with no cabbage added. I like to think of this more as simply "Portuguese Soup" since it has been a staple in my family since I can remember. I have friends in the New Bedford, MA area who make it this way as well. You could say this is a lot like Chili, everyone has their own recipe. Thanks for commenting!

for sure it's not, this is more like a bean veggie soup, which looks great by the way
