Broncos also gave up Noah Fant for Wilson. Dak requires more help around him to be successful. He’s incapable of carrying a team with middle of the pack talent around him like Brady and Mahomes. Which requires more cap space be available for talent. Dak wanting 60MM is bonkers and should be moved if he doesn’t budge. He can’t win by taking up all that cap space, time to recalibrate.

I love how on one week Dak is MVP and then next week you can’t get nothing for him.
The Problem: Cowboys do have a lot of stars -- what, 9 All-Pro players -- but also a lot of holes (at RB, O-line, interior D-line). Therefore, when we play bad teams, the talent rises to the top, and we win by blowout. But when we play teams of equal talent, that are also more balanced (Niners, young Packers), our flaws are exposed, and we lose, sometimes badly.
The Answer: extend Dak, + fill holes where needed (example: they did fill holes at LB with return of Overshawn and signing of Kendricks; at RB, could have signed Derrick Henry + Zack Moss; should have kept Tyron and Hankins but add depth and youth to those positions; etc.).
That's what "All In" should look like. Makes no sense to blow up a team that actually needs only a few tweaks. This ain't rocket science.

@@DennisBraxton-tw4je People think it's so easy to get a top-tier franchise QB from the draft or free agency, until they actually have to do it. Example: Since Kirk Cousins left, Commanders have had a slew of highly-touted QBs from college (RGIII, Wentz, Haskins) who all failed spectacularly in the pros...a story repeated around the league, except maybe Green Bay (Favre, Rodgers, now Love). We lose Dak, will probably take 10 years to recover from that.
I’m glad to see some cowboys fans who make sense and not in their feelings about this last playoff loss. It’s a shame how many fans that want to blow it up!

Is the reason he’s not signing as some have said DAK doesn’t want to sign a long-term just three years?
I think they are having the same issue they had last time they signed him. Dak wont sign for more than 4yrs and that puts the Cowboys right back here again in 3 yrs from now. Four year deals pretty much keep him in the top 10 salary for QBs the entire contract and the top of the market for 2 of the years. That doesnt give the Cowboys any "cheap" years. Dak has made it clear he wants every penny. He is not going to give the Cowboys a 1 cent discount and will only sign for shorter deals. He has also made it clear he will bet on himself if they dont like it. The Cowboys signed him to his deal 2 yrs too late and let him get all the leverage. They either have to let him walk or keep paying him top of the market rates. They lost this negotation 6 yrs ago.
I think the cowboys are only interested in paying top dollar for a top qb. Not just top regular season qb but top qb. I'm not paying Rolls Royce prices for a BMW just because everybody else does. BMW is very nice but not RR.

You have such a tiny chance of finding the QB you are talking about, and then you have to find the coach to match up with him. Otherwise you just have Rodgers, Marino, Manning on your hands. I know Maning won 2, but the second one was despite his horrible play.

He's not the difference make you will need at 20 percent of the cap. Most of these teams either win with super stacked teams that they sell their future for or with quarterback on rookie deals. Peyton won his last ring with a monster defense. Remember Brock Oswieler won 2 playoff games in that run. If they could have won with him that team could win with anybody at qb. When Purdy was sown by 17 he brought his team back. We were down by 14 and Dak literally added to their lead.

The reason you trade Dak ( to the locker room guys) is because : (1) He takes up HUGE cap space (2) Have not gotten to a NFC Conference game with him and (3) if you still want Dak, will they take LESS to keep Dak.

The phone works both ways, this is the second contact that (last) the cowboys clearly didn't want to do and (now) they aren't going to do - yet obviously nobody is calling them. I would imagine their film guys see Dak play poorly everytime he plays good teams. Looking at this roster, to me it appears they want enough to physically field a team now and can use the next 2 drafts to get talent, BOB. They DON'T have to draft for need if they are being realistic. They can't trade Dak, but I expect they can and should trade Lamb and Parsons. The biggest problem for this team is when they rebuild it'll be by a front office that hasn't shown the ability or knowledge necessary to build championship teams - that expertise left the building when Jimmy quit.

It makes sense that since Dallas does not seem committed to re-signing Dak, that we need to get something for him now. I have a hard time believing that he won't get $60M in free agency based off his history. If you put players around him, he can succeed. This year he was amazing. Hardly any running game and he made that passing game work. However, I am not the biggest fan of Dak having seen how he plays against the tougher teams. The defense deserves a lot of the blame for losses also. However, extending him and increasing his pay per year, thus taking pay from others needed players on the team, in the end will not make us better in the long run, or give us only a small window to succeed before his CAP hit hits the stratosphere. I think we lost control of this team when Dak got the no trade / no tag clauses and now we are riding this out until he is gone. I wish we could trade Dak for a bunch of pics.

Feb 23, 2021. Brian Broaddus asked his gang of 7 what the league would value Dak at. They said a 2 or 3 this year and a 1 or 2 next year.
This was the same year that Wilson moved for three #1s.
The league told you where they value Prescott right there.

The Watson deal was flawed as he hadn't played in a long time. Wilson was clearly in decline when he was traded. Dak is in his prime
