Vivo is hands down the best smartphone manufacturer in the world right now. Not only do their cameras perform even better than Samsung's or iPhone's, but the rest of the hardware and design are up there with what a flagship truly should be. Despite the sensors not being unique to Vivo, their partnership with Zeiss is reminiscent of what Nokia once had with them, but on steroids.
Just now I've sold my S23+ for a vivo X100 Pro (CN). I find OneUI a bit boring. Although Goodlock is neat I'm just fond to my previously owned iQOO Neo7 (CN).

Then, these phones are fast, take crazy good photos and have beautiful screens, while the designs are more daring than the traditional models, without being too in your face. How di I know? The cons could be lack of timely software support for the most part, but ironically, the software itself seems to be stable enough, so it doesn't matter all that much

I have my doubts if the X100 Ultra reader really is an ultrasonic reader, this sensor needs several records to save the fingerprint, and this is only necessary in optical sensors, in addition it is almost 3x smaller than the X90 Pro+ reader which was a 600mm2 ultrasonic 3d quallcoom while this one is said to be a 225mm2 goodix, that's why reviewers need to pay more attention to this, to prevent manufacturers from regressing, on the X90 Pro+ to register your fingerprint a reading was enough

You talk about the zoom, but don't show any 10x, 20x or higher zoom level? Whyyy? 3,7x zoom is sharp at nearly any flagship. We want to see how it looks at higher zoom levels!
Vivo X series are just outstanding and every year they're getting better and better unlike Samsung and iPhones. They want to do everything through software and AI. If Vivo starts giving the same level of software update cycle, they would outperform those Monopoly champions.
as someone with a china only vivo fold and using it here in the usa i can say you can definitely make them work outside of china just make sure the cellphone provider has the bandwiths the phone ssupports

Bring Vivo to the USA! It's part of the BBK corporation which also owns Oppo and Oneplus so I know that it could come to the US if BBK wanted to enter another brand of theirs into the US market. Vivo phones are amazing and they are one of the only brands that uses the Mediatek Dimensity 9300 flagship SOC in the X100 and X100 Pro.
I had a Xiaomi 14 Ultra before my x100 Ultra, I most prefer the Vivo and have sold the Xiaomi. The 1r Ultras camera was very impressive, a lovely authentic colour profile. The periscope lens of the Vivo won me over though, and it's performance in low light. I also really like Origin OS, for me, it feels smoother then the 14 ultra did. Also the Vivos battery lasts much longer in my uses.
The Vivo X100 Pro is still an excellent option plus available worldwide. If you want great photos and videos near an Ultra, but don't want Chinese bloat, the Pro is the way to go.
Actually, Vivo's is more advanced than Samsung's. The Vivo X90 Pro Plus Ultrasonic fingerprint scanner is double the size of Samsung's, in terms of screen area. Sadly, Vivo went back to a normal size ultrasonic scanner for the X100 Ultra. Hopefully, they bring back it the larger scanner in the X200 Ultra.
@dorianed72 I agree with this actually, vivo introduce the fingerprint sensor top mobile devices and I wish they kept the gimbal stability on cameras though
Qualcomm owns the ultrasonic patents and Samsung pays for using it. I expect VIVO does as well. Many others don't due to the cost, but I think Qualcomm has reduced the price and even Google may have them in the Pixel 9 Pro.

If you scroll along the camera modes until you see 'More' you should see the 'High resolution' mode in there. Using the bottom on the top right, you can add it to the camera modes at the bottom of the screen

I don't see anything interesting about the X100U during the day, it has saturated colors and it has a strange HDR at night like blue sky and noise and the zoom lens too but looking at both I don't see any difference.

After trying s24 ultra i will never go back to optical fingerprint scanners
