How the hell they didn't get a record deal at the time with such a quality set of songs is beyond me??? This rare demo saves the day though. Thanks for sharing!
superb song this is typical a 80s stuff what a lead to hear love it in the background mind blowing. This makes me to flow in the moments of good old days.....Miss the 80s and the 90s wish they should come back.....Thanks for this upload
"Like a fairytale begins With the lady in distress Then true love comes To conquer all the best Hero of my heart Hero of my dreams Anytime, day or night You're there to rescue me Oh, hero of my heart"
I on the other hand love a good female voice, female fronted rock especially. And this girl's got a set of pipes to die for. She could (and should) have been a household name.
A grave injustice that befalls way too many bands in this genre. FYI, it's actually two demos, not one. Judithe Randall co-wrote some of their songs. Consequently, 'Leave Well Enough Alone' made it onto Venus & Mars' 2nd album, while 'The Last Time' and 'High Life' were included on Mark Free's 'Long Way From Love'. 'Keep This Love Alive' and 'I'll Be Loving You' arguably are even better than the two i posted. So it's safe to say it wasn't for lack of righteous tunes that they missed the boat.
@1976HHHS An album called 'Sweet Surrender' was released on Retrospect Records about a year ago, containing 7 songs from their legendary demos + 3 newly recorded songs. If you want the mp3 version of the album and/or unreleased songs from said demos, go to hardrockaorheaven.blogspot.com and leave a request in the Req & Fill Corner.
I'm of course familiar with both Chase's and Chalfant's The Storm, therefore the existence of this The Storm was a (pleasant) surprise for me. Well, i"ve got to admit i'm not the huggest fan of female fronted AOR/Melodic Rock, but this band sounds really great to me ears.
@UliJones I mean that if Private Life EVER had a good song, it was before the singer's (K.B.) band left her and formed the L.A. supergroup "Sweeden". Songs like "Down From the Stars" and many others had a heaviness like the Scorpions with a female voice in front. In fact the only song to get airplay from their debut album, the over produced pop-rock diddy, " Put Out the Fire" was actually written for the most part by someone who received no credit, monetary or otherwise, Scott Pettersen
Hi, I'm one of the co-writers of "Hero of My Heart." This is my demo, NOT the demo of The Storm. The Storm's lead singer, Kristina Nichols, is the singer on the demo. Contact me re the song: bettie@bettieross.com
@garrisounds I know quite a few people who consider it a classic in the (female fronted) AOR/melodic rock genre. To quote Jack Nicholson in 'As Good As It Gets': 'Go sell crazy someplace else' (while playing Grand Funk Railroad, no doubt). I'm not buying.
@garrisounds What are you on about? Eddie's production wasn't the best, but 'Shadows' had plenty of good songs (some great even). You sound like you had some dealings with Private Life, got treated unfairly in your opinion and are therefore totally biased about their output. Either that or you've simply got lousy taste.
What a piece of beauty. AOR forever 💎

@UliJones Private Life????u r joking right??
Mark Free doesn't even come close, this song needs to be sung by a woman...

cantas excelente kristina y con el dúo mejor con mark free
Mark Free version is the best by far
Lets see, a band with a blond and a brunette and 3 guys playing hair metal. Can you say blatant Heart ripoff?
