just finished this today. really hesitant to finish it and leave the isle of seiren. such bittersweet ending. wish they will give a nod to Dana in future Ys games. Dana Forever!
Spoilers for Ys IX but it has to do with your comment, I figured you might wanna know. Dana and other important people of Adol’s past like Feena that have become goddesses of Ys or something of godly nature come to aid Adol in a critical moment in Ys IX. He has a tough decision to make at the end of the story and they show up to give him advice and if you choose the option that leads to another fight, then they lend him their powers. Each individual thanks Adol for whatever he did for them in the past, and afterwards they all remind him that they are always watching over him and smiling as he continues his adventures.
@@paulnoell39 Additionally, (and this is also spoiler territory, for those that haven't played), There is an NPC that you gift the collectible blue glowing leaves to who has the power to let important people like Dana that Adol came to know in the past speak through her, allowing for a little more closure to their departures. I thought that was a nice touch in Ys IX, even if I hadn't played any other games except Ys VIII. I was a little confused with everything that NPC was saying, each new milestone sounded like a different character speaking, sure, but I didn't know them, even if they sounded like they knew Adol. When it got to Dana's, however, I recognised it immediately. Such a small addition but one that felt wholesomely bittersweet.
'We are not the tools of any higher power. Each of us is the very embodiment of free will. Even so, there comes a time in every man's life when he must answer a call to destiny beyond human understanding. How will you respond when that moment strikes you? Truly, nothing is more awe-inspiring than one who unceasingly pushes himself beyond the threshold of his courage and will. I had hoped to embody such an ideal myself. Even now, many decades later, my awe for her remains unwavering.'
After finishing and nearly completing this game, I can say with the utmost sincerity that I think Dana is perhaps one of the best Falcom characters ever written, and in my opinion perhaps even one of the best rpg characters ever written. Very few characters in any game have ever made me feel so many emotions, and very few have such fantastic music accompanying them to back those emotions. So as much as I understand that one of the main themes of VIII is that some friends' paths may never cross again after they part, I'm very glad that they didn't have Dana stop being relevant after this game.

I never heard this piece and RUclips just sent me here with autoplay. It was so good that I had to come take a look at it and OF COURSE it's Falcom music.
This is the first Ys game I played and finished. I legitimately bought this solely because of this piece and I was not disappointed. It makes me wonder how you top this story. I realize that the games are all a collection of Adol's travels and I'm just curious to see how they will do this. I can't wait to see what's in store for this franchise. Also, I'm going to be starting the Legend of Heroes saga soon. WHEW. Gonna be a fun time.
Jairus C. Music legend of heroes trails in the sky FC and SC together are the best jrpg I've played if you put patience and heart into it. Trust me it will all worth it ;)
Celceta teased on how Adol will open up the road between western and eastern countries, there's also a not-rome arc that's been foreshadowed by multiple characters in VIII. Although I have no idea how they'll top the scale of disaster in Ys VIII.
In my opinion, this was the last Falcom OST that was truly great. It's clear a lot of effort went into this soundtrack, and it really brings the Isle of Seiren and the events surrounding it to life. From CS3 onwards, while the soundtracks are perfectly serviceable, I don't feel like they reach the highs anything before them did.
agreed even though I haven't played many of falcons games the only ones being Ys 8, Daybreak 1, and Cold steel one I can definitely say in my opinion YS 8 has one of the best soundtracks Falcom has ever made
Have just finished Ys IX, and come back here to listen to YS VIII music :) Though YS IX is also good at the plot, it seems nothing can top YS VIII especially the music !
I went to the home screen on my Switch when the credits started, and when I came back the credits were frozen at the beginning with the song playing in the background. I tried pressing start a couple of minutes in and I was met with a black screen with the music stopping. *Pretty cool way to finish the game, I gotta say*. Luckily I had a save right before you get on the boat with out god, Sahad.
Played this game thanks to PS Plus during recovery from the plague which shall not be named. Absolutely the best thing to happen during that time. Dunno how I missed out on it for so long. I got the true ending my first time on sheer accident. What a fucking incredible surprise. Time to up the difficulty, and go back and do the endgame content. Also, accidentally got the true ending of 9 shortly thereafter. Both games are wonderful and I am now fully invested in this _amazing_ series.
And now, I wonder: where would Adol go next? Both after Seiren and beyond Altago. After all, he retires from Adventuring at about 60-something... Lots of placesyet to see from the perspective of the man himself...
Zenn virus He might discover his world's America (Adolica?), fight off the Romuns that stand in his way, map Afroca... He is Adol Christin, whose curiosity knows no limit, and there is a lot left to discover in the world.
We already know where he goes next. Lacrimosa of Dana isn't the latest entry in the series by timeline. The last one in the timeline so far is Ys Seven.
Nope, he just settled for a moment, recorded his lifetime of adventures and died when he decided to head to the North Pole. He died doing his passion, Adventuring the Uncharted
@@ikagura nope, adol is still ripe in Ys Seven, he's only 23. Adol died around 60. Maybe Ys IX is in somewhere in Greek (Greece in real world) because it's near to Altago. Which is Carthage in real world (Northern Tunisia)
I am using Google Translate, please excuse the broken Japanese. I think the title is meant to mean that Dana is now the source of all evolution. This is the sense of "transeunt": her touch acts to change and grow things. 私はGoogle翻訳を使用しています、壊れた日本語をお許しください。 タイトルは、ダナがすべての進化の源であることを意味すると考えられます。 これは「transeunt」の感覚です:彼女のタッチは変化し、成長するように働きます。
And after the Lacrimosa, now Adol became the god in YS world : befriend a godess, while doing a god act himself : Stop the evolution process. He's just so OP the only thing that he's not done yet is changing the universe himself.
I really want Dana and adol to be together in the end. Even when falcom says he loves feena, the fact still stands that adol hasn't been able to forget about her even in Ys 9 and she's even there to help her out for some big things from what I know and coincidently enough, another old blue haired goddess. If adol was to really marry only feena, they wouldn't keep on introducing all these girls in every game that love him too. If there's a gun in the shelf in ep 3, it should be shot by 5. If not, it has no reason to be there. Just like that, if all these girls are getting introduced, he has to pick 1 of them instead of just tunnel visioning for feena. That's backed up by how the devs say that he marries one of the girls in his travels and deliberately leave out their name to keep the fans invested in the romance of the game by speculating and theorizing. They went too far with the very specific choice words dana had towards him, specifically singling him out outta the bunch to talk to him, genuinely crying and hugging for the whole scene to just be platonic. You could say she did that outta pure compassion with how much he helped her but when a woman suffers for 65 million yrs and then a man comes into his life as knight in shining armor while potentially being the solution to all her problems, it's not surprising for her compassion to easily turn into love, considering how the whole scene went with all the blatant hints there with even the goddess Maia calling them both being tied by a red string of fate in one of the eng subs (that's referred to eternal lovers in Asian cultures) lots of hints there. All in all, while it is important that the dev's word of mouth does matter, the hints they give out is equally important too. Game devs are artists too and as artists, they deliberately leave out a lot of stuff for the fans to figure out. It starts conversations and keeps the community active like I said above and this won't be the last time time they did something like this. Nothing is set in stone and as such, adol marrying dana is equally as possible as him marrying feena My girl has suffered enough. She needs some love in her life. She needs to know that there's a man out there who's gonna cherishes her and look at her as more than just a friend
Beat the game today and what an experience it was.
This might be my favorite Falcom game of all time.

Even if fate tears us apart,

Rodak? Fan jrpg?
Master Kong really teach us a lot, best character of this game hands down to me
I honestly thought that no other Ys game could top 7 in its entirety. But 8 completely blows it out the water
do you mean 7 or memories of celceta ( seventh release) i am planing on playing some more ys before the ys prison comes out
Afyer playing 9, 8 still top 9
The acoustic and electrical guitars are excellent, outstanding track. The violin and cello are also immaculate. A masterpiece.
I had to come find this after hearing it in game. What a fantastic last track to a refreshingly great fucking video game.
I played a few YS in the past but this one got the most impactful ending.
Kiseki series > all, easily. Yes I'm biased, so what. :D
Crossbell arc best
have fun ! Legend of Heroes has its own unique piece. /o/ never a time YS series didnt make me cry.. the feels.. crepe.. *noms* Q_Q
ゲームをクリアした後にOPでこの曲とあのダーナの絵は泣いた
dont mind me just finished this masterpiece and am grocery shopping for the best bits of the OST to put on my playlists
Thanks Falcom for another awesome Ys game. One of the best JRPG I have ever played.
Loved this game...It's everything I wanted in a rpg.
That's what I thought when I finished my first Ys
What a beautiful adventure it was.
Beautiful game, do not regret playing. Hated Platinuming it lol
wow this track is just mindblowing, so full of emotion
In my opinion, this was the last Falcom OST that was truly great. It's clear a lot of effort went into this soundtrack, and it really brings the Isle of Seiren and the events surrounding it to life. From CS3 onwards, while the soundtracks are perfectly serviceable, I don't feel like they reach the highs anything before them did.
agreed even though I haven't played many of falcons games the only ones being Ys 8, Daybreak 1, and Cold steel one I can definitely say in my opinion YS 8 has one of the best soundtracks Falcom has ever made
Have just finished Ys IX, and come back here to listen to YS VIII music :)
Though YS IX is also good at the plot, it seems nothing can top YS VIII especially the music !
1:46 that part is beautiful
i got chills listening to this while reading the comment. I hope to play this game soon. TnT
Ys 8 will forever be a timeless gem
Masterpiece game. I'm glad I bought it on sale for Christmas
I have just finished and I gotta say I fell in love with the game, a bittersweet ending but still I also feel happy to found out this gem
i finished , ys oath to felghana , ys seven , ys memories of celceta , ys lacrimosa of dana. now ys 9 we go !
There's also Ys Origin 😊 I fell in love with this series thanks to Ys 8, bought it on a whim because the box art is 👌 I'm so glad I did
if only the other games in the series had such good stories and characters.....they really should have made a sequel to this game.
There is it is Ys 7, storywise that is.
My favorite portion of this is that the portion of the song with the Greek twang has Sahad in the background.
I platinum this game. It was so good and still is.
Red hair and Blue hair never work out in the end, but the adventures are worth it.
Damn, that's true.
Nah, it's because Adol already have a blue haired waifu.
Feena.

Underrated Jindo track
Dana could not catch a single break
@@SenseiMasterShikikan-sama Ys X in Arctica would be cool
@@ikagura nope, adol is still ripe in Ys Seven, he's only 23. Adol died around 60. Maybe Ys IX is in somewhere in Greek (Greece in real world) because it's near to Altago. Which is Carthage in real world (Northern Tunisia)
I have played Ys games since the 80's on my old MSX computer. If this one is not the best, it parallels with Ys III.
Dana FOREVER!!!!!!!!
Damn.. rarely enjoying anime game. But i give this one aplause.. such a great story and music.
I hate this game..
I wish I could just erase it from my memory so that I could be able to experience playing this masterpiece once again.
I bet Dana and Adol are smashing nonstop in that great tree now.
Not even the same species dude.
I still miss Dana
I have finished the game years ago (year 2017 i think) and still miss dana till this point
DANA FOREVER

I am using Google Translate, please excuse the broken Japanese. I think the title is meant to mean that Dana is now the source of all evolution. This is the sense of "transeunt": her touch acts to change and grow things.
私はGoogle翻訳を使用しています、壊れた日本語をお許しください。 タイトルは、ダナがすべての進化の源であることを意味すると考えられます。 これは「transeunt」の感覚です:彼女のタッチは変化し、成長するように働きます。
Thank you for your comment. Please excuse my broken English. I see. Dana is the very sense of "transeunt."
I will forever love Dana
Dana Forever
Dana Forever~
I take it that this is the equivalent of "The Nameless Song" to Ys fans
And that's how adol say good bye to Dana, now he continue to look for more Harems on his Journey.
this was a really good game!
The game, somehow, remaind me by The Legend of Dragoon.
그냥...개지림..
Daaanaaaaaa😭😭😭
Sanat eseri!
I met it in Osu. It's very precious!!
Its 2021 and still miss dana
Best action rpg ever...
And after the Lacrimosa, now Adol became the god in YS world : befriend a godess, while doing a god act himself : Stop the evolution process. He's just so OP the only thing that he's not done yet is changing the universe himself.
He didn't just befriend a goddess: He made her fall in love with him.
no he didnt, i played to the very end and they dont fall in love
coughfeenathoughcough
... I mean he literally just destroyed the world and had Dana recreate it, so...
Hmmm I think this list does not have the "Night Exploration" theme
Nothing is set in stone and as such, adol marrying dana is equally as possible as him marrying feena
My girl has suffered enough. She needs some love in her life. She needs to know that there's a man out there who's gonna cherishes her and look at her as more than just a friend
the end 😭
Goddess of evolution
01:04 is just so wild
1:46 is amazing
Jindo is literally god what the hell
Raios, se parece muchísimo al tema de la novela cuna de lobos. Que bien un rearange alterno.
Really.. went through all of them to find Night Survivor (didn't know the name) and it wasn't even among them QQ
"I DIDN'T ASK TO GET THE FEELS AGAIN!" --Me, on a similar occasion.
Captain Barbaros die and Sir Carlan alive That @#$# really piss me off..... PD: Feena and now Dana 😭
