I can see Miss H's intension in moulding Stella's whole personality and mind was to build a woman-weapon to torment men, to seek vengeance of whole male community for the betrayal she experienced. So, by creating proud cold and beautiful Stella, she seems to take pride in her work as she can see the power Stella holds to attract and control men. However, the same sex desire the professor talks about, I truly cannot understand, for all I can see is that Miss H is proud and satisfied with Stella. May be she desires to own the power Stella holds over men.. but didn't find any allusions to attraction. This is kind of frustrating 'cus I enjoyed some of his other videos and he guided with examples to prove his points.
Some interesting modern takes, a bit far but that is literature. He is certainly creatice with his takes but in truth there could be justification to a lot of it when viewed from a more modern lens. Although the original intent is evidentally easier to comprehend I wonder how deep Dickens thought to certain key themes such as the lacxk of sexual consumation and continual dissapointments. One could even go so far to say that Dickens predicted a certain kind of fall of man considering the modern mans lack of sexual interest and isolation due to technical innovation and changing societal norms.
The comments on this video have me rolling-

I think the speaker is looking for a perverse sexual angle that isn't really there.
But he wants it to be.
I was thinking the same. And I think Dickens would have been horrified at some the suggestions here. Or more likely, roared with laughter.
I agree.
