    This is the 4th video called "How the rivers form/are formed" and it's the FIRST that actually explained how the rivers are formed and not the parts of a river like meanders.
    Kudos to you to actually describe the topic! You earned the subscription.

    I'm surprised that you didn't mention *springs*. They play a very important part in how rivers form - in fact, the "source" of many rivers is a spring (or sometimes a number of springs).

    Surah Al-Baqara, Verse 74:
    ثُمَّ قَسَتْ قُلُوبُكُم مِّن بَعْدِ ذَٰلِكَ فَهِيَ كَالْحِجَارَةِ أَوْ أَشَدُّ قَسْوَةً وَإِنَّ مِنَ الْحِجَارَةِ لَمَا يَتَفَجَّرُ مِنْهُ الْأَنْهَارُ وَإِنَّ مِنْهَا لَمَا يَشَّقَّقُ فَيَخْرُجُ مِنْهُ الْمَاءُ وَإِنَّ مِنْهَا لَمَا يَهْبِطُ مِنْ خَشْيَةِ اللَّهِ وَمَا اللَّهُ بِغَافِلٍ عَمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ
    Then your hearts hardened after that, so that they were like rocks, rather worse in hardness; and surely there are some rocks from which streams burst forth, and surely there are some of them which split asunder so water issues out of them, and surely there are some of them which fall down for fear of Allah, and Allah is not at all heedless of what you do.

    I often wonder if one could make a river in places where water teends to go.. first by creating a pond.. then the water table will refill, do that for a couple years.. then extend the pond like a river and just keep doing that for decades... is it possible?

    • @brightblue-earthscience
      @brightblue-earthscience  2 года назад

      You can divert the path of an existing river but you cannot really create a brand new river just by digging somewhere beacause as soon as the river is bed is higher than the water table it will loose the water. To prevet that from happening you would have to make the river bed impermeable.

    Okay so this explains only why rivers stay with water in them and where it comes from but, it doesn't tell you how rivers are FORMED like the title suggests.
    How is a river formed? like how does the land separate originally in order for water to even pass through in the first place? Are they natural? are they Man-made?
    Is it simply gravity and wherever happens to be the lowest part of land it can reach is where the river basin forms and thus grows into a river creating a bed for itself as it corrodes through the landscape?

    • @brightblue-earthscience
      @brightblue-earthscience  3 года назад

      Hello and thank you for your interesting comment that allows me to explain better. We may think that rivers are static features or networks of carved out channels that are then filled with water (if I understand your comment right this is what you imply), but that is not really what happens. In fact rivers are highly dynamic systems, their paths is determined by topography (i.e. the shape of the land over which the water flows ), the type of rocks that make up the land, but also by how much water there is and how fast it flows. Moreover, rivers themselves can change the landscape, through erosion. When water flows it will carve its own path over time. These paths, are not fixed : it is not uncommon for a river, or a portion of a river, to change path, sometimes gradually, often suddenly. So for many practical purposes, the water is the river. In this sense I think that if you can explain how water gets to the river, you can explain how the rivers are formed.

    This exact scientific phenomenon has been mentioned in the Quran 1400+ years ago
    Then your hearts became hardened after that, being like stones or even harder. For indeed, there are stones from which rivers burst forth, and there are some of them that split open and water comes out, and there are some of them that fall down for fear of Allah. And Allah is not unaware of what you do.
    Quran 2:74
    Surah Al-Baqarah Ayat 74
    Why then do you not believe?
    For indeed, it is not eyes that are blinded, but blinded are the hearts which are within the breasts.

    How does underground water rise up in the mountain?

    • @brightblue-earthscience
      @brightblue-earthscience  2 года назад +1

      The water does not climb up the mountain. It falls from the sky and starts movinf downwards towards the sea. Some of this journey happens at the surface, some undergroud. If the level of the water underground rises above the level of the surface, the water comes out (that is how a spring forms).

    river paths are naturally made when the earth was hot and soft and molten

    • @brightblue
      @brightblue 3 года назад +2

      That is incorrect. The surface of the Earth is continually being reshaped and remodelled and rivers play a big part in it. The paths or rivers change constantly, sometimes very gradually, sometimes dramatically. It is for example not uncommon for a river to alter its path following a big storm. Besides, when the Earth was hot and soft and molten (as you say) there was no liquid water on the Earth's surface. It takes at least several hundred degrees for the rocks to be molten, and all the water would be transformed to vapor.

To each their own, living for the tangible but be cursed to see it all decline, or to live in fear or perhaps pseudo hope/ or grandeurs if there are redemptions after death...
