This is so well done that I feel like Im walking there with you. Thank You for sharing the experience. I look FWD to doing this myself in the future God Willing
Thank you for uploading this video. What a vivid and fantastic video it is. I enjoy climbing on the screen. I fully support you. I am from South Korea.
Thank you! I’m doing my Camino next May, and the only thing of concern was the first two days for me. Your video is outstanding of what a pilgrim will travel through. Again, Thank you. Buen Camino
Those two days were my biggest fears too. Day 3 into Zubiri ended up being more challenging. It could’ve been because we were walking on tired legs, but the last few miles into Zubiri is on really jagged rock that isn’t very fun. Just be prepared for it, no one talks about it!
We broke the traditional first day into 2, which I recommend. The first day we did a short, but uphill all the way hike to Orisson and stayed at Orisson Refuge. You have to make reservations. The second night we stayed in Roncesvalles (I would make reservations here too). There is only one place to stay there, lots of beds in a giant dormitory, it is the Roncesvalles Pilgrims Dormitory.
I just got back from doing the last Sarria to Santiago stage and I'm hungry for more. I think about doing that first stage but I have some fears holding me back. What if I get lost? It looks like there are a number of possible routes, how do I know which one to take? But your videos are definitely helping me. I would probably need to break up that first day into two as well. Thank you so much for these videos. I look forward to watching all of your Camino.
Hello! I had the same fears!! And I tried to watch every video I could find on how those first two days would be, and while nothing can truly prepare you for it (not in a bad way, but for how amazingly beautiful it was), I found navigating was the easier part, if that helps at all. I was more worried about my knees, but breaking the day up was definitely the right choice for me. If you do the same, I highly recommend getting reservations for Orisson and Roncesvalles as soon as they are available to make. It was a game changer! I wish you the best and I hope you can get back out there. Sarria to Santiago was so green and lush! 🩵💚
My pack was 25 pounds at the beginning and I could’ve gone lighter for sure. I “packed my fears” as they say. I started training for the Camino a year before I left, that is probably excessive and not necessary. Most people will say 16 weeks prior to leaving. I started my pack weight at 15, and built up from there, eventually carrying 35 lbs, so that when I did eventually leave for the Camino, my pack was actually 10 pounds lighter than what I was used to. I also found some good hill hikes in my area to train on.
We were on the Napoleon route from Orisson to Roncesvalles. We followed the signs all along the way and the map given at the passport office. There is a section that is shorter and steeper down from the top, but they told us to make sure we stayed right, don’t go left at the wind marker. People who went left had a very hard time with knees and ankles, but going right was tough too.
Thank you!! 💙 Ohh have a great time on the Camino in the Fall! I bet it will be extra beautiful and hopefully the temps cool down for you!! I just used my iPhone 11. Nothing fancy or heavy!
The road walking was fine the first few days, but now that I’m blistered up, the hot road is rough!! So I try to walk along the side as much as possible.
Man, this bring back some great memories. Thanks for sharing. The Camino is calling again. I need to find time to do it again. :)

Also, the RUclips “Cruisin’ With The Colemans” is a good one as they are out there right now and posting videos.
What month was this?
We left on May 13, 2022. 😁
How heavy was your pack.
How did you train for this Camino.

what route down did you take from orisson ?

Awesome which route did you take?
Hello, Orisson is on the Napoleon route. It is beautiful for sure!
You observed that the first days everybody have a bigger backpack? 😁
Thanks for putting this up!!! My wife and I go in mid-September! What did you use for filming?
Thank you!! 💙 Ohh have a great time on the Camino in the Fall! I bet it will be extra beautiful and hopefully the temps cool down for you!! I just used my iPhone 11. Nothing fancy or heavy!
@@byrdsonawire videos are great, on day three!
Thank you!!!
Stunning! I'm so happy for you! How are you handling the road walking?
The road walking was fine the first few days, but now that I’m blistered up, the hot road is rough!! So I try to walk along the side as much as possible.
I just followed the obvious signs, so I took the brutal route down to Roncessvalles. There weren't any smarter people walking before and behind me😭
Omg you did? I didn’t know that. Brutal, but you survived because you are a badass!! ❤️❤️
