Love how it started out as the World of TOMMOROW, then straight into war propaganda. This really reminds me of the Fallout Universe.
As I posted, GE was the 2nd largest military contractor. That explains the sudden shift.
There was one that had a clip about new TVs, and they had what HAD to be what the tvs in fallout are based on. It was made by Philco, and featured a swiveling screen.
The government drives it all. Without counterfeiting humanities future for today they cannot live like gods in their minds while they insanely try to run from the inevitable.
makes a fascist proud, right?
I vaguely remember optimism in society as a little kid in the 70s.
0:16 - "June, who is perhaps grandpa's favorite..."
I bet she is.
"The future is already here. It's just unevenly distributed". William Gibson.
June was always grandpas favourite
That film was copyright in 1952 Grandpa is long dead June is well in her 90s
your content slaps harder than will smith at the oscars. please accept my gratitude
I cant wait to see the incredible developments of the world in the far future of 1993!!!!
I saw one that took place in the future of 1960. Son wanted a new rocketship to go to school, but dad couldn't afford it, and told him to keep using the HELICOPTER to get to school.
I missed that part of my HS life, lol
“It’s already tomorrow.” Truer words have yet to be spoken.
Deep
This comment is absolute gold 👏 you win the day sir
Hey, wait a second...
11 days ago.... pffft
You're living in yesterdayville.
Squidward - I always say, why do today what you can do tomorrow
Mr. Crabs - what is today, but yesterday's tomorrow?
So many memories of the future!
And again, you make bedtime better. Thank you, picsandportraits!
Wow, that first film certainly takes a sudden turn, doesn't it?
Yep, they are coming for your light conditioners and disposals! Ahhh!😜
21:03 - "Much of the mystery surrounding it is maintained by the general public, which is determined to regard radioactivity as potent and irresistible as the evil spirits of the Indians."
Oof.
I saw one vid of his that mentioned a toy set of soldiers defending a fort against "the redskins". That one blindsided me
The one thing that's made me most disappointed is how bright nuclear power was. If we had stayed on track like we were during the 50-60s we would be in such a better place now. Nuclear power is the most environmental, efficient, and can be made the safest way to generate power. Nuclear is not the boogie man it use to be.
Only in area’s that are not destined to environmental catastrophes as with Japans Fukushima nuclear plant, or within raging war zones, as was revealed with Ukraine, and then California has a myriad of issues with safely storing its nuclear waste and spent fuel rods which are leeching toxic radiation into rivers…8\
@@derangedhermit2879 So first off Fukushima NOTHING failed. The reactor itself and safety systems did there jobs. The pumps and others systems were flooded causing them to shutdown. These can easily be hardened to resist flooding with water tight seals, reinforced pumps, and off site back up generators not located by the main complex. Now for Ukraine nothing has actually happened. Yes the plant was under direct fire but plant workers were able to safely shut down and secure the reactors long before the battle even reached the plant. As for the spent fuel there are plenty of ways to store fuel safely. Im seeming to remember if you introduce glass to spent fuel it can significantly reduce the amount of radiation the fuel gives off. All the above challenges are able to be over come with simple solutions.
@@dimetime35c I’m certainly not anti nuclear, like you stated it’s the cleanest most readily viable solution close at hand, however in all actuality California unequivocally has not implemented the simple sentence containment solutions that you have envisioned are easily possible. I say just shoot the nuclear waste off into deep space. Or eventually store it on the moon. That’s of course after we collect the helium 3 that’s just lying there for the Nation bold enough to grab it, helium 3 is littering the lunar surface, collect it up then bake the radioactivity out of it in huge ovens on the moon and then shuttle the energy back to earth, reportedly there’s enough helium 3 on the moon to power the US for 1000 years or the entire earth for 200 years…8)
@@derangedhermit2879 apparently there are ways to use nuclear waste for things. I know I read some article online about a study showing there are ways to mildly recharge spent fuel rods. They wouldn't be 100% renewed, but recharged enough to be used for fuel again.
That’s not what the oil companies and world governments who are in their pockets want you to think though
I thought this was going to be a band. Like, I already had an idea what it sounded like and everything.
Did it sound like BOOM BOOM BOOM?😜
You were close....
It's a 90s music sub-genre of _Navel-gaze_
XD
Exact same thing. I was thinking it was some form of 60-70s futuristic electronic music.
AT LEAST one of them plays a Jazzmaster / Jaguar. The drum kit is a Ludwig 3 piece, black oyster and beat to s**t, naturally. The bassist is an old Korean woman, and they've never heard of your favorite band.
@@joek81981 teehee, and there's an ungrounded _Sivertone_ with a missing treble knob and a smoked 12AX7 somehow involved with this outfit you speak of.....
I was today years old when I found out what sleepcore is...👍💙👏
Video aspirations of tomorrow's technological Americana, rooted in yesterday's newest tools.
Find DONALD FAGAN 'S (1/2 of the 70s smartrock band, STEELY DAN) futuristic ditty, IGY (abbreviation for INTERNATIONAL GEOPHYSICAL YEAR, something else to look up, ) to hear of the postwar dreams put to music.
Outstanding selections tonight, thank you!
45:33 Actually the capsule comes in at a slight tilt relative to its trajectory. This creates an offset aerodynamic force that can be controlled by adjusting the tilt, to adjust your aim as necessary. This extra control gives you a wider-angle window for starting the re-entry, which means a bigger safety margin in case you came in too high or too low. Otherwise you would need to get it within tighter margins to start with, with more chance of getting it wrong.
they had all this ambition for the future and they were hard at work on making it real
and now we hav to tell people not to eat laundry detergent and people who tear each other apart over words typed on a screen
somewhere along the line something went horribly wrong
Sadly true. I watch these videos, and scream (internally) "WE ALMOST HAD THIS! WE WERE SOOOO CLOSE!!! WHAT HAPPENED?!?!"
These videos were funded by businesses or government. They didn't reflect public thought back then. People were no different than they are today.
Exactly true!! It really boggles my mind that we were once such a great nation that produced so much and now we have kids that get mad over pronouns. I would love for everyone to see the bigger picture instead of focusing on small things. Also, unfortunate that if you showed people the first vid they would most likely dismiss it and say it’s 2024 now or something dumb.
The corruption of the Gilded Age, Military Industrial Complex, the Federal Reserve, Globalization and the Corporatocracy
Glorilla is disrupting my attention… “and that’s why I love tomorrow!”
Thank you as always! Love this theme.
1:27 Fred Wilson's Granddaughter better hope Gramps Wilson was a wiz with the electric stock ticker and reading ticker tape, because by the time she starts having grandkids in the World Of Tomorrow she's going to need a huge inheritance plus a sizable pension to pay her electric bills.
It started off a well done review of energy options and how they effect the average person's home. But it quickly morphed into a drum beat of jingoistic schmaltz. The fact that GE became the 2nd largest military contractor, largely by making the trigger switches for the nuclear bombs, in no way influenced them to talk up our armaments. No sir, no conflict of interest there.
Those old heat pumps weigh 1750,000 lbs.... The new ones the skinny guy can pick up with a dolly out the back of his pickup truck
Pretty Awesome stuff J.
Very good Video.
Just want our house's heatpump to be a little deeper - might as well drill down to geothermal levels, add a little steam driven electrical generator. ;*[}
The predictions are remarkably accurate in that first one. Heat pumps for temperature control in the home. Atomic power station. All the appliances are things that are available today, and in reasonably common use - though the home soda fountain is a bit snobby, you can still get them. Six minutes of predictions for the future of the home, then a brief diversion into American pride and a reminder that the commies hate everything good and must be destroyed.
The simpler world of propaganda: We're the good guys, they're the bad guys, they probably eat babies, end of discussion.
Wow thay painted such a beautiful picture of the future
And now we dream of the past.
The first film was copyright in 1952 Grandpa is long dead June is well in her 90s
That first GE film was amazing weaving #FreedomandLiberty with our productivity watching it in.2023 and you realize how we've fallen

I wonder if the film Atomic Energy for Space at 22:03 got wet when in storage, or maybe the film got moldy and damaged because the film quality looks aweful. But the audio is still preserve.
Usually they have the film (video) on the film real being played on the machine projector. And the audio on a sound cassette to play on a speaker, completely sepparately. Atleast, that's how I think it works.
14:25 What's that? Bikini Atoll needs a harbor? No problem, just stand back a second...
Fine film artifacts of yesterday's look into the future.
My god! Did you see all those orange peels!? Egad!
That's channel reminds me of the mid 1980's show "NiteFlite" that aired late night on weekends on the USA network.
A nuclear ram jet engine was pretty damn ambitious wow
Insight is far more important than any may imagine. Reflection is key. Look within, but understand that more than the mere physical aspect is required for true enlightenment.
"Before I start, I must see my end. Destination known, my mind's journey now begins. Upon my chariot, heart and soul's fate revealed. In Time, all points converge; hope's strength, resteeled. But to earn final peace at the Universe's endless refrain, we must see all in nothingness... before we start again."

1:34 So, does the heat pump need to block the stairs like that? Does it have to go in the living room?
They solved the origin of Dark Energy! It was those electric hp motors all along!😜
So beautiful...At times a Matrix horse-powered batteries.
We forgot that CO2 is plant food?
awesome video A M E R I C A 🇺🇸
We could have lots of invisible workers making stuff...or just let China do it. You know, which ever is cheaper and makes more money for the CEOs and shareholders
So we knew all about heat pumps back in the 1950’s, seventy years ago! Energy was cheap then so we didn’t worry about wasting it. We are starting to pay for that destructive mistake.
Atomic piles in your neighbor's basement, now THAT'S safety!!
According to narrator's calculation (8hp /150) each of those _Italians_ is good for .053 HP.
1:31… “well, that was depressing,…”
5:05 Freedom from drudgery? Boy, someone sure messed up and got rid of the wrong one.
Tell god your plans, so he can laugh at them . ❤
The "heat pump" has become a thing again.
So surreal...for real....
SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE!!!!
26:11 I don’t understand why you want a low-density propellant; surely the higher the density, the better, since it would carry more momentum for the same amount of imparted kinetic energy.
Hmm, I suspect it’s a consequence of the rocket equation, that being able to expel the propellant at a higher speed is better than lower.
41:00 Yup, stated as much here.
Whatever happened to self-restraint, perseverance, optimism...
Narcissistic group identity and encouraging self victimization
I can't wait till we get nuclear power plants.
Sire let’s set off a 50 KT device underground and capture its energy to power my microwave oven
The Magic of the Atom was filmed entirely on site in the Nevada testing range.😜😳
But...how high is up?
Colonel Bleep !!!
makes me wish youtube had gamma adjustment, why doesnt it???
Heat pumps? I thought that was new technology .... today
KINDA LIKE THAT BUT COOLER
" peaceful uses of nuclear explosives"
for democracy and super earth!
we'er service workers now
My heat pump is broken.
"Uranium in the pool water" what?
What’s “sleepcore”? I really don’t know...
Brought to you by g.e. & the military- industrial complex.
Tom Swift!
21:10 "the evil spirits of the Indians" wow....
Not today!
5:50 thanks to this I know Communism wants to take my electricity away LOL
42:30 That picture of Mars has the fictitious “canals” on it (the dark streaks). There are no such things on actual photographs of Mars.
All that overly complex design fixed with air conditioning, heaters, and better insulation and windows Lol
7:42 Why not two thousand invisible workers, thought @ElonMusk.
They were referring to slavery at the time you were talking about
@@detroitpistons4095 With all due respect, taken in context there is nothing at all in that short video segment that would imply slavery. It is a GE/DOD promotion/propaganda piece typical of the era, 1954 if my deciphering from Roman numerals is correct. That would put it smack in between the Korean and Vietnam wars hence the overtly anti-communist look and feel. It was also a time of rapid advancements in nuclear physics, energy, and electronics, and that works nicely into the propaganda-noir. Nationalist, not racist. Specifically the point I was quoting was showing how machines were taking over some of the manual burden, trading horse power for man power. Fewer men were needed to do the same work, they were missing because they could work elsewhere, possibly on the front line fighting the commies! There is no mention or implication of slavery anywhere in the film, none. If anything, the opposite is implied, that freedom is worth fighting for. Speaking of freedom, I hope you find yours someday. Free your mind and look at the world the way it really is. It's not always fair or just, there are wrongs committed and there are some terrible folk, but the good far exceeds them. Look for that with your head up, not looking for the crud with your head in the mud.
They never talk about what it takes to make these things, like cost, waste, skills. etc. most of this is delusional.
Yeah...this propaganda got us where we are. For better or be worse.
Ага развиваться за счёт чужих энергоресурсов. Вампиры
The ultra nationalistic rhetoric is hilarious.
I like your channel as a background when listening to music but can you explain why you call it sleepcore? Is there is concept behind this that i don't get?
This is a few years old but I explain it here ruclips.net/video/2Da4Kpqq4t8/видео.html. There are some newer videos where I talk about it but this covers the idea pretty thoroughly.
@@picsnportraits Thanks for the reply. This is a really cool concept and your channel has become my favorite latenight background.
