- A highly effective method of grafting. It essentially locks your scion and rootstock together, thus increasing the likelihood of your graft taking! The graft looks dangerous, but don't be deterred. If you practice some knife safety techniques, everything will be fine. First part of the video was recorded on September 19th, 2020. The graft took about 27 days to show signs of life.

It locks the connection for easy wrapping with grafting tape, nice !
Thanks!
Great Whip and tongue demo, bro. Has become my favourite graft👍👍🌿
Thanks my brother. I really like your avocado seedling project on IG
Sweet you can use a couple small cable ties instead of the rope to ensure a close union of the graft
Definitely will try this method .. seems more contact with the scion is made and definately more secure than a veneer or cleft graft..
Pro trick : watch series at flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching lots of of movies during the lockdown.
@Brock Callan Yup, I've been watching on Flixzone for months myself =)
Another great lesson. Thanks AJ!
Thanks Jeff
First time I grafted this way and it fits nicely. Hopefully I'll get plumcots on my peach tree👍
It’s a fun graft once you get the hang of it 👍🏼
Awesome grafting, AJ. Very fascinating graft technique and congrats on the successful grafting in Southern California. - Neal
Thanks Neal
Way to grow bro, been doing this for Avocado with good results, it's a sweet fitting graft 👌🏼
Love your work 🙏🏼
Thank you! Ya it's cool how the scion and rootstock fit with each other
Great video.. Thanks for immediate update :)
Thanks. Much appreciated :)
Great video 👌👌
Thanks 🙂
Hi, did it grow one more flush since then?
Instead of shoelace i use duct tape cut into 1/10 inch width, and for the first fixing i use very thin rope..
So you graft mango from april till october with higher success rate, fine.
I did one mango graft on a warm august day, i did not wrap it, and it dried out in 4 days. Maybe in august i should leave it in almost full shade, or when it is in full sun cover it with nylon, and some alufoil...
Cant wait to see your graden tour update video:)
Yes it’s grown some full leaves since this video. Thanks. Yes more videos to come. Stay tuned :)
You should use a piece of plywood about 3 by 3 in with a hole in the center so you can slip your Scion wood through that as you're doing your cut so you don't cut yourself.
one question I have, the Scion wood that you took from the tree you said it was two years old is that particular tree already fruiting???
That’s a great idea Ariel thanks for sharing.
That tree flowered and fruited this year but i took the fruit off because i want the tree to focus on growing bigger. I’ll let it hold fruit next year
Great....
I’m going to try this whip it tongue method.. I’ve only been doing the cleft grafting..
Question: can i do grafting even in rainy season? We’re in rainy season now here in Philippines
Should be ok
What is the best graft technique for avos please? highest success rate?
best technique for me is the cleft graft. It has a high success rate
@@AJTheGraftMan Thats what i have been doing.....how about the cleft that goes down the side ...rather than the one that goes down the centre?...thx
Jonathan Cox that’s a great technique as well
Have you ever grafted guavas? If anyone has successfully in cali… must be you
I tried once. A few years ago. I believe they all failed. I’ll be trying again next year
If you send cuttings through the mail you think they would work to propagate? loll
Not sure
I'm up for the experiment if you want to find out loll.
You should sell some if it's possible. You do have a decent selection!! They probably need the proper packaging a lot of work but it might pay off!!!
I just cannot get the cut right on a whip and tongue.
Takes a little more practice than other grafts, but super effective once you get the hang of it
I know this Indian verity coz I am an Indian
