That little appearance in the s3 gave me goosebumps. Seeing him in the crowd, standing there looking at Uhtred. Litteral chills
And Untreds sad/ happy cry/ smile when he sees him and speaks of him.. Bonded.
Yes!!! That speech made that episode, EPIC!!!!
I just saw that scene. I'm in tears I came to find a leofric appreciation video and comments
I almost cried
I'm glad they didn't just forget about him
Leofric is my favorite character from the series. Shame he was gone so quick.
It was a necessary sacrifice, Leofric's death opened the way to Finan and Sihtric
@@deejayrestua7601 yea I had a feeling he needed to die to help develop uthred. He was like a bigger brother to uthred.
First we lost Leofric then Iseult, Halig, Thyra, Father Beocca, Young Ragnar, Erik, Steapa, Odda the Elder yet Aethelwold outlived them last kingdom loved killing off amazing characters.
@@deejayrestua7601 You forgot Osferth, Leofrics nephew and Alfred’s bastard.
They did him dirty by killing off his nephew Osferth as well 💀
I saw Leofric as the single greatest influence on Uhtred's character development into the leader he would become. So well written and acted. His appearance in season 3 further solidified that. And also made me choke up.
I'm in awe, seeing his appearances in S3... his character alone gained my attention in every scene he's in. especially in Uthred's visions.
Loefric was on for so few episodes but had a huge impact on the show and on Uhtred. His appearance in S3 gave me goosebumps. He was so good to watch
What episode?
I really like the scene where they’re being followed by Danes and uhtred pulls out his sword and says “at least one of them will die” and then leofric pulls his out and says “one or two of them”
Uhtred learned many things from leofric as he was a warrior who had no interest in silver or gold but being a true warrior and believing in what he was doing as a man, he was a soldier and soldiers always follow but also in the choices he made, its funny how the smaller characters made such a big impact on the show and made it what it was. Arseling.
Except they rode north to raid.
@@gabrielcarrasco8414even then he was doing his job though. “watching” uhtred was his only task at the time. and he was aware of his less than royal status despite his accomplishments so he took to raiding in the moment of gaining wealth, and even then still returned completely loyal to wessex
Leofric was a true born Saxon huscarl and I loved every minute of his screen time.
He was a true Brexit geezer
@@jimadler739 LOL 😂😂😂 The King wishes to know where you commoners intend to take Britain when you exit with it
Housecarl was a Norse term, the Saxons didn't adopt its use until way later. He would be called a hearthweru then.
@@pharaohsmagician8329 we already have, we arent taking it anywhere, the way it was before is fine enough
@@OldSkoolWax cool!
Leofric could CARRY AN ENTIRE TLK SEASON...He is that charismatic.
Can't believe in a series with so many epic moments and battle scenes , the most epic moment comes from a random dude standing in a crowd smiling
Leofric. I even smiled.
“I knew him,” I said warmly, “and I loved him.” Leofric had been a tough West Saxon warrior
who had taught me about war. Earsling, he used to call me, meaning something dropped from
an arse, and he toughened me, bullied me, snarled at me, beat me, and became my friend and
remained my friend until the day he died on the rain-swept battlefield at Ethandun.
- Uhtred in 'Sword Song' by Bernard Cornwell
2:15 Uthred putting a Sword in Leofric's hand as he is dying is such a nice touch. In an off chance that he might see him again in Valhalla.
i liked leofric his accent is great and he talkes loyalty and his own mind its an unlikely friend of Uhtred if he survived till the end what would happen. and he was a warrier till the end
What makes me smile is in English history there have been men like leofric who fought for our people. We will do well to honour them,
Love how their friendship developed from hate for one another, but then turned out to be uhtreds first true loyal friend, uhtreds vision of Leofric smiling in the crowd at uhtreds speech of Alfred was both emotional and perfect, great way to pay tribute to leofric
Leofric make me proud to be a pure blooded Englishman love his character 🏴✝️❤️💪🏻⚔️
You will all remember my great friend Leofric, a warrior and a Saxon to the bone!!!
Gets me hyped and I felt that to the heart everyone one of my favorite scenes
Leofric is awesome could have made a series about him,,he made the last kingdom,👍😁🏴⚔️
No he didn’t 😂 yes he was good but uhtred, finan and citric are a better group
@@RisingFX The group would have been even better with Leofric. I loved his plain speaking Northern English vibe and he loved a good scrap! 👍
It’s actually great when they show a Saxon who can fight as well as any Dane which is more historically accurate, the Anglo-Saxons weren’t weak people in real life. For this reason alone, ‘Vikings’ was unwatchable for me.
@@phoenixrose1192 Fair enough, I haven't watched vikings and im not sure I could. The last kingdom is my top 5 potentially top 3 shows of all time. Have you seen the latest season?
@@RisingFX I couldn’t watch Vikings after series 3 (I tried to give it a chance, I don’t know why I was doing this to myself), in literally every fight scene the Saxons were basically treated worse than the Gondorians were in LOTR…whilst the Vikings were given a Godlike status. So it wasn’t a compelling watch after a while…
TLK is a much better show and balanced at least, the story and cast are on another level. I feel like *not* having most of the Saxon characters played by Irish actors made the TLK feel more authentic to me than the Vikings as well.
I binged it on Netflix a few days ago, it was refreshing to see a series that actually ended well these days. I think TLK got better and better after each series and I’m definitely looking forward to the film! Have you seen S5 yet?
@@phoenixrose1192 Agreed, ive not seen vikings but ive seen clips on other social medias. I do agree with what you say.
character arcs are brilliant in TLK and you get a sense of actually being part of something. I like how action doesn't overule the storyline too, even though I really enjoy watching Uhtred fight. I like the build up and unexpected events that keep us on edge.
TLK did have a slow start and although I didn't enjoy the first couple seasons as much as the last ones its sad that there wont be another season, what's this film going to be about? Yes I have seen S5, in my opinion S5 was arguably the best season of the series. Who is your favourite character in the show?
3:32 when Leofric stands between Utrecht and Ubba, that's probably the moment Utrecht began to really appreciate Leofric as a friend and a Saxon to look for. Very few would have done what he did there.
Fantastic edit. The overlay of "It's been good to have you as my friend.." whilst seeing Leofric's smiling ghost got me good.
I agree, it makes me think about how many people have ever existed, all the friendships and relationships, and how the passage of time turns such strong emotions into dust and echoes.
@@TheHoggcast well said.
Thank God Series 2 had the Norse brothers, Sigfried and Erik, otherwise I never would've gotten over the loss of Leofric.
And then they killed Erik 🥲
Honestly the loss of Leofric is still the one that hit me the most. More than any other character including Osferth. Finan is more akin to a brother to Uhtred but Leofric is like a mentor or uncle figure in Uhtreds life. He taught so much to Uhtred about how he should behave and watchout for. The things he will need to learn if he expects to lead and survive.
I think his death was a bit premature. I think it did need to happen, just maybe not so soon.
Leofric's character was larger than life. Loyal to his end. A great friend, great warrior, and a great Saxon.
This is just one of the wonderful characters we've loved, and lost, during our wanderings with Uhtred.
A SAXON TO THE BONE
Thank you for honoring his character
The real hero of the story for me. Leofric embodies most of the virtues I aspire to. His loyalty, his bravery, and his wisdom always made me want to do better and fight harder.
TLK is far from being one of my fav shows but somehow that character is among my favorite characters ever. I’d rewatch the show for him specifically
The Saxton's Saviour. Truly a motivational character.
Saxton? Surely you mean Saxon?
Imagine the dream team you could assemble with all of Uhtreds companions from across every season
Thank you, this is beautiful. Leofric was a force of nature 😍
The best of the saxons, beautiful video 👌
They killed Leofric off far two early ,he helped make the show as great as it is ,👍⚔️🗡️🇬🇧
“A Warrior and a Saxon to the bone..“. If that’s not said @ my funeral I blew it
4:34 that scene made be cry. Loved seeing him show up in the background. 💙
Leofric the last kingdoms hound
Both my favourites, I hadn't noticed, but you are right.
The respect, admiration and love Alfred had for Leofric, Alfred never shows anyone the same devotion at all during the whole series, Leofric was truly his man
So perfectly cast, he was my favourite character
3:32 I would love to see Leofric fight Ubba.
THIS IS ARE LAND!!!! the chills I got from that
Leofric: a fine warrior, a great friend, a sorely missed brother
This man was à great warrior indeed
Grazie a personaggi così meravigliosi questo film è stato e sarà sempre meraviglioso love you
he was like a father to uhtred, at least that's the way I saw it. He took uhtred under his wing, stood by him, protected him, shaped him unit the man we see throughout the rest of the show. when he couldn't find a way to avoid uhtreds execution, he offered to do it himself so he could give uhtred both a painless and dignified death but also Valhalla. Fate claimed him all the same as it had the king and Ragnar.
Leofric was one of my favourite characters in The Last Kingdom… the brotherhood he stuck with Uhtred was special.
Leofric was a great character, then when he told King Alfred that he would fight Uthgred to the death when he was about to be executed. That sold me, Leofric is the best character I have seen in years. I have never had a character make me want to keep watching more than Leofric. In just 7 episodes.. He convinced me he was nothing but a true warrior and a man. Hard to find a character do BOTH, especially in 7 episodes. Episode 8 just made me lose my mind.
Truly a fierce and tested mad dog with a functioning head on his shoulders, and a loyal heart to hold him together
I wish they wouldn’t have killed off Beocca and Leofric i lost a little interest when they died. Season one was my favorite with ubba and guthram they were awesome characters who gave me the chills.
Absolute favorite ❤️
One of the best in show!
He was awesome funny and very blunt
Love leofric ❤ he was honest how he felt bout Alfred, LOVE THIS SERIES ON MY 8TH TIME WACTHING IT STILL EXCITING ❤
The bantz between these two... Unmatched
Everything related to uthred in this series is arseling for Leofric. I Love this character so much
Such a masterpiece. I rate this series above Vikings, Game of thrones and many others.
I love his smile at 4:28 as Uthred turns around and smiles at him, he smiles back.
Leofric and Ravn are the two most immersive performances in TLK imo. King Alfred also was great, but Ravn in Episode 1 sold the first episode (Rutger Hauer, played the Android in Blade Runner, for those who didn't notice who was playing Ravn, one of his last performances was The Last Kingdom before he died), and Leofric solidified the first season.
My heart omg... I absolutely love leofric
my absolute favourite ❤
A Norman's advice to his son. "When he stands like an ox in the furrow, and fixes his eyes on your own, and he mutters "this just isn't right" Then my son leave the Saxon alone."
Leofric was the best! ❤❤❤❤❤
Arseling!
Great vid!!! Loved Leofric and his friendship with Uthred!
This is a beautiful video
The way he was ready to square up against Ubbas in order to defend the King and Uhtred without hesitance...that's a warrior scared of nothing
I laughed when he put a helmet and it was too small for him 🤣
Brilliant
It shows a Christian and a Norse pagan can be friends I am starting to see things differently my self I am a really proud Norse pagan from Dublin Ireland lord Odin and lord Thor are my gods and they have empowed me to get sober and stay sober one day at a time all hail the Norse gods and all hail lord Odin and all hail lord Thor skal and peace people
I hate that Leofric was killed he deserved better we didn’t get enough of him I’d of loved to have seen him and Finan meet. Leofric would of joined Uhtred after the death of Odda the Elder. Leofric was right in wanting to kill Aethelwold back in season 1 if they had then Young Ragnar wouldn’t of been killed and Brida wouldn’t of tried to kill Uhtred.
'His grave is to be marked like that of an Ealdorman.'
No less than he deserved. He didn't fight for ambition, money or pride, he sought only to serve his lord, his king and his people. And he did exactly that. The Westbury White Horse marking the site of Edington is visible from my parents' village, I won't be able to see it again without thinking of Leofric, and all the real men, their names lost to history, who died there.
Brave and loyal❤️
F...i cry when Sir Leofric died.
Brilliant character, brilliant show. Can't wait for the movie!
Random question, can someone tell me what accent Leofric has?
Best character.
One wonders what would've happened had Leofric survived the final battle.
Leofric sempre será o melhor companheiro de Uthred
Great video
Leofric, um guerreiro honrado!
Best underrated character in this series!!! Hope they interview him and show him again
Leofric, the only character stronger than Uhtred. I think its cause Leofric had more experience tearing people apart on his own with a crappy army
Ubba was better too though. But that was also young Uhtred
Yo you know Leofric was something else when he isn't afraid to square up to the Earl Ubb when he approaches Uhtred and the King during their first meeting. Surely a small scene but that says alot about Leofric, he was selflessly bold enough to truly and literally square up to this fierce chieftain. Leofric of Wessex would truly be the best warrior to ever live in the Last Kingdom
2:11 right then and there, he died with the warrior spirit that defined him! Long live Leofric of Wessex!
Going into s3 Leifric is still my favorite character.
The best man from beyond the grave to come back and pick up Uhtred
I would have loved to see him & Finan together
Osferth's death was insanely stupid. Especially how it was shot. Finan could have easily saved his ass and his wife didn't even need saving. >:(
Please add a spoiler warning.
Ares Ling was a favorite for sure
I like finan and sihtric, but nothing will beat uhtred and leofric together
he looks like Bishop Heahmund from Vikings
You forgot to include the part when without hesitation he admitted to doing the raids with Uhtred. It was a true testament to how honest he was even under potential penalty of death.
Dang it would've been awesome if he has been part of Uhtred's crew with Finan and Osfert.
Amo a estos dos
Leofrich Caballero Cruzado valor de principios guerrero valor hasta el fin gracias hermandad amén gracias
A warrior and Saxon to the boane.
Hasta la victoria señor leofric
es Leofric gracias amén
The Bastard Thinks ,didn' t I tell you ?
parallels of leofric & elder odda
This man was like the brother in battles from a saxons's view for Uhtred until the destiny wanted to put a big L on his head.
Can anyone tell me where I can find where leofric told uhtred about alfred knocking up his sister????
He died too fast. he had the perfect face for a warrior :)
Leofric is a direct decendent of Sharpe
The only man without a women in the series… poor soul ❤
