Nick quit his 16 year "career" as as a District Manager for Journeys shoes in August 2019, and while he worked to scale The Jump Off, he drove uber, sold trash that he found on the side of the road, and picked up as many odd jobs (like building swing sets) as he could.
Then in late 2019, Nick hit "The Bounce House lottery" (originleadership.com/bounce-h...) and when the pandemic shut everything down in 2020, he sprung into action and took that moment to make The Jump Off what it is today!

Great video! I have experience working with inflatables during college but have been thinking about starting my own business. I have no entrepreneural experience so "running the show" as the boss seems overwhelming. Insurance, permits, taxes etc makes my head spin! Going to check out a few more of your videos to gain some clarity. Gained a new subscriber 👍🏾
It’s not easy! But god it’s fun ✊🏼
✌🏾, great content
Thank you so much!
Thank you Nick. You said just go and I did. This morning I rolled up a waterslide by myself. I’m investing in me and purchased a real dolly lol. I also ordered your straps.
Get it girl!!!! I did get it tattooed on my hand BTW
Great video! You should make a video about how you started of your business and maybe tell the trial and errors you went threw!

Hey man great video I love it. The wife and I just started an inflatable business jumped in with both feet. I believe your videos going to be very helpful to me. I was just wondering where you purchase your inflatables? I didn't post our company name cuz I don't know if it's allowed.
What’s up Frank! Mainly I buy from spacewalksales.com, HEC-worldwide.com and ezinflatables.com.
My newest video has a lot of that info in it! Go check it out.

I've been thinking about starting this business... It seems like the whole thing can be started for under $10k. I already have the truck, so that's a bonus. Thanks for the helpful information... I think I'm going to do it.
Do it let me know how it goes!
Thought about purchasing a couple bounce houses until now...I'm GONNA purchase a couple. Thank u sir!!!
Glad I could give you a push!
When you said just go I felt that 😎😎 this is accurate asf
I need to start selling shirts haha
😂😂😂44 question at 930pm, when the rental is 7 months away Yass🙌🙌🙌
Hahaha glad you liked that one cause you KNOW its true. I had a drop off yesterday where the lady apologized for how many questions she gave me and I told her not to worry it’s what I’m here for!! 😁
Hell yeah I have a moving and Junk Removal business plus starting to get into bounce houses 😁 synergy
Love it!! Haha
Thank you
Very welcome
Great video, I’m in the idea and information gathering stage. One question I have is how do you pay your employees for someone starting out? Is it by the job, per hour, or profit splitting, etc. thanks!
Thanks dude!! So I have tried it all and what I have landed on and like the most is hourly for drop off and pickups. That way long drives don’t kill their earnings or some crazy incident happens at a drop and all the sudden they make $2/hr (happens weekly no lie). Then for cleaning I pay by the unit. $15 a piece, GET AFTER IT! Some pay piece work for picks and drops too ($12.50 each for example) some pay hourly for cleaning. There’s no right answer.
BUT I will say this. Don’t worry about that yet. Get your ass some slides and start getting dirty! You’re a while away from employees 💪🏼
@@nick_o_glass You’re the man. Thanks!
Hi Nick, thanks for the info and I love your energy!
(1) Who do you recommend to build a website
(2) Is your rental software easy to use and affordable
(3) I've tried door to door fliers to no avail... what would be the most effective way to get my first few jobs?
What’s up Tonia! Use Inflatable Office they’re great and the website is already built! You can customize everything but it’s literally made for inflatable company! Use FB and Google ads (after you get a website up) until then FB marketplace like crazy!!
www.inflatableoffice.com
Thank You Nick!
Hey nick! Love the video and the tips! My husband and I are thinking about doing this but weren’t gonna do it until next summer but I want to start now my question is, is your business still good during the winter months? We are in Oregon and it rains the majority of the fall/winter here.
Start now! That way you’re all set up, know what your doing, and have a web presence already come next spring.
Yes we stay consistent thru winter. $2500 a weekend up to Xmas pretty much. Not the bad ass $12k weekends of summer lol but easy routes and small units in the winter.
I got OCD and the first two are great for me to hear.
We can be obsessive compulsive friends then ✊🏼
Do you use a particular extension cord with certain gauge? Love the video btw, super helpful!
12g I get ours at Sam’s club. Yellow jacket GREAT cords $56 for 100ft
My wife and I are really considering starting up a waterslide/bounce houes rental business. She works full-time as a custodian and I am a stay at home dad because I am totally blind however, I am very very good with my hands and a very fast learner. I am the type of go go go Person you mentioned so that’s a plus. My wife is the same way. I really feel this is something we can do successfully. Only part I hate is all the financial crap Thank you for the information. it gives me a lot of security.
Wow that’s awesome get it!!! ✊🏼
Number 8 is 🔥
Trying to teach the real stuff! No fluff here
Hey man love ur video! Very inspiring and informing! Where would you recommend buying my first bounce house from for a good price?
Magic jump or big and bright! Tell them I sent ya 🫡
Thanks for all the great info. I started back in June and came across a video of yours and it's absolutely sped up the process. I completely stole your magnet idea 💯💯💯💯 Quick question if I may; what's the length of your rental time? I've seen a range of 4 hours, 8 hours and basically "let's negotiate." What seems to work best for you?
That’s so awesome I love to hear that! Our rental default to six hours that’s what has worked the best in my opinion for us. That being said, we go out of our way to try and leave it overnight. Every single time number one it’s easier for us number two it’s a good value for them.
Great advice! I have been thinking in starting a business as well but I am worried about q stake hitting a water line or any other line. What do you do? How do you avoid those lines? Is their anything else to use to keep the house down
It’s a non-issue. If you are that worried about it out in your contract that they need to call 411 but We hammer stakes with reckless abandon! For real non-issue
So I have a few questions how do you go about setting up payments through your websites and how do you get the right card reader machine so your customers can pay? Where can you find a financial manager and insurance for your slides?
All great questions!! My software provider Inflatable Office takes care of all the payments on the website, check them out here - rental.software/?ref=nick
I use Square as my CC processor so I have a square reader for on site payment of the balance if they don’t pay with cash or Venmo.
If you’d like I can set you up with a call with my financial advisor Jarod, just DM me your info on IG @nick_o_glass.
Insurance is through cossioinsurance.com. Tell them I sent you from the YT channel 😁
You earned a new subscriber! Also, could you explain what a cpa is, or stands for?
Thank you!! Certified public accountant
Hi Nick! Thank you for all the information. Before I found your videos, my husband and I were going to start an inflatable and Christmas Light business. Then I came across your videos! My question is, I want to be able to expand in the future into party rentals. Should I keep it all under one name or different ones?
Diff
Hey Awesome video!!! Just getting started in the BH Bussiness and very nervous we have 1 bounce house and a slide on the way. At what point do you recommend the trailer we haven’t rented 1 yet but this is our first season
What’s up Sergio! You’re gonna do great man don’t be nervous. I recommend the trailer right away because it makes everything so much easier you won’t dread having to pick up and drop off units showed your company will grow faster cause you’re more excited for rentals!
Nick, what type of stakes do you use and where did you purchase them from?
Also, how heavy should the sandbags be when setting up on concrete?
Stakes 5/8” x 18” and I get them from leisure activities! 50lbs on the sand bags
Hey Nick. We live in South Georgia--Brunswick/Waycross and my son bought a Bounce House Business. 9 different houses blowers, chords Enclosed trailer. the whole works. The name is Buddy Bounce. His son(Almost 3 yrs old) my grandson is a Downs Kid. Down Syndrome. This is his 4th weekend in business and is going to get a Trampoline Bungee. We have been busy/ Being Dad, I do worry. I help when I can but sometimes I think hes moving to fast. IDK. This video helped me alot to try and help him. New Subscriber.
So awesome!! Before you buy the tramp bungee get an insurance quote for it!!
This was so helpful! I have worked in corporate all my life trying to find a side hustle to help generate extra money for myself and son. I am great with people. Scared 😱 I may not like or can’t physically do it. I think great idea I live in Florida. Perfect place for it. I think 🤷🏿♀️.
Yep FL one of the best. Physically you’ll be fine promise. Don’t be scared, ATTACK!
Nick thank you so much for sharing. I would love to start my side hustle but not sure about insurance..any input would be great.
Yeah I need to make the insurance video bad. Had it planned before Hurricane Ida came through and crushed us. See if I can get it done this fall!
Hello from Clearwater FL 🙂
👋 yo!!
Awesome somewhere in the comments I left a comment about the financial business and tax side that I'm clueless haha. Finished watching your video and my question was answered haha. Going to find a cpa to take care of all the crazy stuff, while I try to get this business started.
Yep they’re there to protect you and guide you thru all the crazy tax laws!
My friend and I are planning on buying a house or two to start a business! These tips were insanely helpful. I really appreciate the finance and hire a helper tips. What size BH/slide do you recommend to start with?
We want to start with houses and slides, then slowly start to graduate to more! I can't wait to get started.
Congrats Jessica! You’ll do great with an attitude like that. I have a video called “how to buy your first bounce house” that will help you a lot! Go watch that. Short answer though 13x13 is light and small so it can fit in a garage and be easy to move so you can get your feet wet and learn a little before going to big stuff.
Here from the Facebook group! Gonna binge your vids! Ordered my first inflatable last week!
What’s up Scott!! Congrats man glad to hear it!!
I JUST started a Discord Community if you wanna jump in. More conversational than the FB group. discord.gg/9r8s2RHC
